a dozen cupcakes in a box

Random stop-in for me to buy a "prize" ("surprise" in 3-year-old vocabulary) for my nephews while I was in town. And of course, if you're in KC and you see Chiefs cookies, you MUST BUY THEM. The cookies were a huge hit, more than the delicious (because I had one for myself) cupcakes. Thank you Smallcakes for having such a good selection of treats for stop-and-shop visitors, like me, looking for the perfect "prize" for small people in our families.

Visited Sunday, February 5th at around 3:30. The experience was extremely different from last time. The girl who helped us was extremely sweet, huge, friendly and patient. Cupcakes were delicious, and so were the cookies. The icing on the cookie tasted much better than it did a year or two ago.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my cake!! This was my birthday present from my husband and it came out more than perfect. I had given a few example photos and she listened to my design ideas, colors, and flavor combos. I was so over the moon with how this turned out and can't recommend them enough. I had four cake for my bday celebration week (unintentionally) and this was my favorite. I was so happy she was able to make my fav cupcake flavor of theirs (chocolate cream/hostess cupcake) into a full cake. Thank you for making my cake dream come true! I've been bragging non-stop and it make my day so special.

Ordered 6 cupcakes for a birthday celebration and was very disappointed. When I picked up the cupcakes, I asked if they had been baked fresh to order that day (7/26/23). They responded yes. Unfortunately, the cupcakes didn't taste freshly baked. I will admit they did look nice, but the frosting is heavy and doesn't taste good. Also, the strawberry cupcake doesn't actually have strawberry slices as advertised on the website. As you can see in my photo, it's just a grocery store standard cupcake with sprinkles. And it tasted like a grocery store bakery cupcake. I had high hopes for these wonderful sounding flavors, but there was nothing signature about these Smallcakes. Such a waste of money.

So I like small cakes bc their close by for a quick sweet tooth fix on a busy work day. I've been challenging myself to try their cupcake specials during the week & so far the cinna one is my favorite. This will be one of my go to stops each week!

For her Birthday I offered to make her a cake. She chose to select a variety of 'Small Cakes!' She chose these!

Delightful array of foods (cupcakes of all sizes) you either never thought about, or thought you could never live without. If you enter the store a member of the first group identified--chances are you'll move to become a member of the second group after enjoying your first moist, flavor laden masterpiece! My favorite for the moment, is devils food, caramel icing with small pretzel twists stuck in the icing! Nice concept--even better execution!

I stopped in here about a week ago to kill a sweet tooth craving that was so bad it was keeping my mind off of anything else. When I walked in I noticed the following things: 1) I was the only person in there 2)The walls are cotton candy pink 3) There were very few cupcakes out to choose from (it was mid-day) 4)It was dead silent ( a little music would certainly help the ambiance, folks!) 5)The woman behind the counter was NOT thrilled to see me or wait on me So....I probably should have left. But my desire for calories I don't need was stronger than the resistance from a stranger to wait on me, so I persisted. I ordered a cupcake that had chocolate frosting, white frosting and caramel on it. I asked what it was, and couldn't hear the answer. So, I asked for the name of it again. This time I *thought* I could hear the answer, but heard the word "drum", so I was confused. So...I asked again. This third request was met with an eye roll and a big sigh (how dare I ask the name of the food I am about to pay for and consume!), and she said "Chocolate caramel drum." I stared at her and blinked. And then had this painful conversation: Me: Uhhh....DRUM? Her: Yeah Me: *silent staring and blinking, waiting for an explanation, but there wasn't one* Her: DRUM Me: Yeah, that's what I said, Drum. Her: Drum Me: That doesn't make sense. Her: *eye roll* Like a DRUMSTICK (clearly thinking I'm a fool while visions of actual drumsticks used to beat on actual drums float through my head) Me: Uhhh....ok??? Her: *deep sigh and another eye roll* LIKE THE ICE CREAM DRUMSTICK Me: Oh. So yeah. Five excruciating minutes later, I was out the door feeling like a moron after some terrible customer service, and to top it off? The cupcake.....it was meh. Sorry, Smallcakes. I don't believe I will return.

I didn't get to go until they were a few hours in but they had a pretty good selection left. It's a small shop next door to a Honeybaked Ham in a shopping center on Black Bob. Pretty easy to get to. Has several tables inside if you wanted to sit in but we just grabbed several cupcakes, a Dubai Brownie, and a slice of Cinnamon Roll Cheesecake. While they were already sold out in a couple of my first choices (Triple Chocolate and Cosmic) they had some others I was eyeing. Lemon Blueberry, Strawberries and Cream, S'mores, and Chocolate Peanut Butter. Yummy. I think my faves were Chocolate Peanut Butter (how can you go wrong?!) and Lemon Blueberry. I haven't tasted the brownie yet but since brownie is one of my fave desserts, I imagine I'll like it. We were waited on almost immediately and they were super nice. They have a rewards program too which I get could be dangerous! lol They had quite a few different flavors of cookies as well and I noticed they had several gluten free options which is great for those who must avoid it! This is my first visit but I think they change out their flavors pretty often so I'm looking forward to trying some more!

She also got the chocolate Hong Kong waffle with ice cream and enjoyed it. I would have liked to try some of their food, but wasn't able to during this visit (through no fault of Tsaocaa). The plushies and other merch they had was very cute and I'll very likely buy something the next time I visit. The decor was also lovely, with some very happy plants in the windows. The staff were also friendly and gave me no reason to doubt their skills. My only complaint is that the seating was just shy of being comfortable. My friend said the bench seating was a bit hard, and while the chair I sat in was soft, the arm rests made it a little too narrow for me (I'm plus size and have chronic pain, so finding truly comfortable seating can be a challenge at most places. As a note, anyone larger than a women's 3X probably wouldn't be able to comfortably sit in the chairs at all and would need to sit on the bench). Overall it was a pleasant experience, and I plan to go again!

Very clean but small so there is no seating. Everything is to go. They have a nice selection of soft drinks and you can mix in different flavors. My partner hit a Diet Coke with coconut and lime. He got a 32 oz for $2. A 44oz for $2.25. A great price! I wanted to get a coffee chiller but they come pre mixed and I couldn't order it with less sugar. I tasted his diet Diet Coke and it was really good. We also got 2 orders of pretzel bites. We got regular salted with cheese dip and done cinnamon sugar with vanilla frosting. These were pretty good. I really love pretzel bites and these were not bad but also not what would make my list of great. You get a cup with a dip of your choice for $4.50 (or close). I also got a peanut butter cookie with Nutella on top. It was cold when I got it. It was good but I learned it is much better when it's warm because it sat in the car for a bit on a warm day. It was perfect and yummy. There's a large selection of cookie combos along with other sweets. There's sever more I want to try. You can also buy a by a half dozen or dozen. While waiting for my order, I did learn I can try getting an unsweetened tea as a base and then add what l life like and it can be made half sweet. I think I'll try it with blackberry and peach purée on my next visit. The two young ladies running the store were both very nice and helpful! I'll try to get photos on my next visit.

As a diabetic,I only get to eat sweets rarely or maybe monthly haha and I really take time to decide where to go or what to have, and I wholeheartedly loved Twisted Sugar. This is located beside the UPS store on 119th Street and when I went in the evening, I was surprised by the number of flavors they have to offer! I also noticed they offer different types of drinks as well (speciality sodas, coffee, hot chocolate etc.) I got a banana cream cookie (regular size) for my husband, and I got a cookies and cream small cookie for myself. It was a perfect small bite sized cookie for me. I like the fact that they have a smaller size options because it's great portion control for someone watching their weight or someone like me who is a diabetic and doesn't want to be tempted otherwise. Note: you can literally ask them to add ANYY topping on the small ones. Banana cream cookie - the cookie base was soft and had a thick layer of banana cream. It honestly felt like enjoying a tropical drink with bananas with buttery finish. It had a very strong flavor and my husband loved it. Cookies and cream small cookie - soft, creamy, and chocolatey, sprinkled with small chocolate cookie pieces and chocolate syrup. This flavor was definitely nostalgic. Both of these cookies were priced at around $4.80, and I think that's a fantastic price. They have a cute little shop with 2-3 tables to sit and enjoy your cookies with quick service but I noticed most people were taking their orders to go. A 5/5 for me, especially since they sell small, single cookies (any flavor).
