    Since the pandemic started, I've been using Doordash quite a bit from Smart and Final Extra, like once every two weeks or so. I did finally shopped in-person once and I found the store clean, with produce well-organized and fresh. The real reason I like Smart and Final is that many of my favorite items are far less expensive than nearby Safeway: * Horizons DHA Whole Milk for the kiddo - normally under $5/half gallon * Crystal Geyser Bottled Water - my favorite, usually $1 to $1.35/gallon * Bundaberg Diet Ginger Beer - under $7 for 4-pack. * Its It Ice Cream Sandwiches - You can get 3-packs of Mint or Vanilla for under $4, or a 12-pack vanilla for $10

    Price label clearly says $2.99

    I think that on purpose they put the wrong label in view of a product. If you don't pay attention, you'll be hit at the register like I was. The unfriendly cashier told me to go back and take a picture of what I was talking about and here I am in a motorized disabled cart speeding around the store to take a picture and sure enough another shopper said " they do this on purpose," and she pointed that the price did not match the raspberrlies but rather blackberries. Another cashier came said "well I'll let you have one at 2.99 price but you have to pay 4.99 for the second one fine but when I left looking at my receipt, the original 499 twice still appeared and was not removed. I asked to speak to a manager who did not look the part nor behave like a manager as in "customers always right". Very unpleasant environment.Quite frustrating.

    Decent selection, doesn't match pre-COVID, but they do restock regularly. If you can avoid it, weekends are slammin'!!

    High class prices and foods.....low class customer service!…read moreI drove 50 miles roundtrip from Oakland to their store in Danville on Saturday afternoon to purchase premium sandwiches for a party we were having. At 3PM I attempted to order 6 sandwiches from the deli department....the guy working there said he was out of rolls! What? Out of rolls at only 3PM? How can ANY huge supermarket run out of rolls? So, I went over to their bread department and found some rolls. He then told me he can not use rolls from their own bread dept to make sandwiches. I made it clear to him I was willing to pay extra for the rolls but he said he couldn't do it. So I went and got the store manager on duty, a nice fellow named John. John was very apologetic about having run out of rolls and he also agreed that his staff should have made my sandwiches with bread from the bread department, given they prematurely ran out of rolls. He went over and spoke to the woman behind the deli counter. She told the Manager that they never said they wouldn't make the sandwiches from alternative bread, it was just that I did not say I would be paying extra for that bread! That was not the truth. When I said to her directly you are not speaking truth to your manager and I said do not put words into my mouth, she insisted I never told the guy back there I'd pay extra for the bread! Who needs such confrontations and frustrations over sandwiches after driving 25 miles each way to buy some? I walked out. We will never be shopping at Lunardi's market again. They sure know how to apply excessive high prices to their goods while at the same time not providing any exceptional customer service! That store has some major issues with their staff and attitude problems. This is the fault of upper management not instructing their underlings what a "premium store experience" should feel like. I certainly could have gotten a more customer friendly, positive experiences from any local Dollar Store, compared to the circus I received at Lunardi's Saturday!

    Update on my attempt to get a good Nathan's hot dog. Safeway still hasn't figured out how to not…read moreserve burnt hot dogs. They put the hot dogs in a pan directly on the hot metal warmer surface which still burns the bun after a while. Safeway needs to invert the pan so the hot dog doesn't sit on direct heat. I bought two for lunch hoping that buying them mid-day the bun would not be overheated. The bun was burnt but still eatable. I will try again earlier and hope Safeway figures out how to keep the hot dogs warm without burning the bun and/or hot dog. I still like the other heated food. I saw a burger that looked good and hope to try one next time they make some.

The register froze after I tapped my card. I was told my Chase card "jammed the system" and that it was stuck in an endless loop. We stood there, staring at each other with no solutions until eventually the lady a different register said she can switch it to hers. Same issue there. First employee said, "I hate Chase cards. This always happens!!" he said their POS system always malfunctions when somebody taps a Chase card. Both of the two cashiers insisted this is a normal problem that happens at Safeway and Costco. They didn't say sorry, just said yeah your card is the problem. My card did not decline... They even showed me the screen glitching. This apparently has been a long-term pattern for them at this location whenever somebody pays with a Chase card... and no this doesn't happen at Costco. After a very circular conversation, I asked the cashier to get a manager, and she refused. The other employee backed her up that a manager won't help. I asked if there is a manager here and she said yes, but he's not gonna do anything. I asked her to please get him to see if anything can be done. Eventually the disgruntled "manager", Bobby, arrived. He looked at the screen, suggested retrying something that had already failed, both employees said that wasn't gonna work, and he walked away without acknowledging me. I asked Bobby if there's anything else that can be done to reset the system or manual card entry as I spent quite a while trying to get my groceries. He looked at me impatiently, said no and continued walking away. I understand that systems are imperfect, but it was shitty service to blame this on me, not acknowledge their own system failure, an apology, nor a single alternative solution. The young man who was originally helping me offered to pay for my groceries himself if I paid him back. He said he does it all the time for other customers that have this issue. That was kind, but no employee should feel responsible for covering corporate system failures and poor management out of their own pocket. I declined because I'm not confident I'll be going back to that area anytime soon, I left without my groceries. I stepped outside and called my boyfriend who gave me his virtual card to try (not a Chase card) and came inside a few minutes later to see if they could try that, and they said no they are already putting away my items. Poor management in need of customer service training. Will not be returning.

The walls are lined with so many different flavors you can read about and sample. We stayed in the balsamic vinegar corner where there were all types of fruit flavors and had signs offering recommendations of how to use it (on salads, fruit, cocktails, even ice cream). We didn't wander to the olive oil section, but I definitely will next time. They have the following price breakdown for bottle size: Small: $8 Medium: $14 Large: $21 They also have tinier bottle sizes and gift bags which would be fun to give/receive. I believe the owner rang us up and she sealed our bottle for us to preserve freshness (it was just corked when purchased). She said to come back with the empty bottle for $1 off!

Not what I thought it would be. It tasted like a soda without all the sugars. It was actually quite refreshing and delightful. I asked what their top 3 flavors were: - Cranberry Pear - Peach - Sicilian Lemon I decided to try Peach. She added sparking water to it. Omg! That was even more delicious. I'm pretty sure any of these flavors will be a hit. Different flavored vinegars and olive oils adorned the walls! Each flavor has a sign with its name, what they are best used for, and what they are best paired with. I wish I could try them all but I can save that for another visit. They also sell pastas, tea towels, little bowls, and other cute things to go with their products. Also found out that Maison Benoit uses their products at their bakery. Love local businesses supporting each other!

I never received the text message they promised. I returned on Friday, and once again they couldn't locate my prescription. After more searching, they finally found it -- but they also tried to give me someone else's order at the same time. I had to explain that I only had one prescription and asked them to verify it using my phone number, not just my last name. The entire experience was very unprofessional, disorganized, and frustrating. On top of that, the drive-thru wait was over 20 minutes. For something as important as prescriptions, accuracy and communication should be a priority. This pharmacy seriously needs to improve its customer service and organization.
