It's rare that I was this compelled to write a review because either the customer service experience or food has to be unforgettable. Let me tell you I have been asleep on Smart & Final baked goods! Let me explain. So cinnamon rolls for the people that really love them are a hit or miss from restaurants, frozen, pastry stores etc. Not sure what is considered top tier but Cinnabon is one that checks the box for most people but there is way too much frosting. Most places, the bread texture is off or dry or the ratio of cinnamon, frosting or bread isn't balanced. Last week I was surprised and thought how I have never eaten any baked goods from here except the croissants. So I took them home (don't let the appearance fool you). They don't look big and fluffy. But something about them omg. When I got home I popped one in the microwave for 30 seconds. The texture is sooooo good! It was like a cross between a crossaint and a cinnamon roll. The ratio of cinnamon, frosting, bread were just right. I'm not a big sweets fan but I was pleasantly surprised because the only fresh baked cinnamon roll that you can get is Arts Corner Cafe. But theirs is a whole different review. Different on many levels. In short, Smart & Final surprised me with this one and the variety last week of mini cakes and unfrosted cup cakes. It was hard to choose what was making it to the register. In living a few blocks away, I really overlooked this place but not anymore. Thanks for opening up my tastebuds. Terrible experience. This is the first time I ask for delivery, I'm sick and the Manager called"Lallo" said I had to go in person to get the Bread they decided not to add. Attitude, I'm with pneumonia, after traveling by plane for 12 hours and there was no careing or "I'm sorry" from these employees working there A manager like that is a poor example. I will avoid SMART AND FINAL LIKE THE PLAGUE. read more

This place is hit or miss...your either going to find everything your looking for, BUUUT your going to wait in a looong line or you will find a few items and check out fast theres no happy balance...store is clean and nicely stocked my only gripe is seeing them throw away organics in the alley instead of donating to a food bank or our local homeless (sad emoji) other than that its a great place to shop! read more

Terrible I was the only person in line and the person at the register ignored me walked away from the register and began doing other things for a few minutes. While continuing to ignore the facts that I was there and when some one on the income said to her that there was a customer. She responded with "you come help them then". I am all about the neighborhood market. I love that it is close and convenient. Prices are very reasonable. There is one qualm with this location... the parking lot is sooo dark. Unsafe is an understatement. The lighting is good over by the Laundromat but near the store it is unacceptable!!! Not only is it difficult to see people crossing to their cars but it is uncomfortable going to out cars in general Please do something about it, whether it be moe lights on the front of the store ir removing some trees from obscuring the existing lights!!! read more

This is a great neighborhood grocery store. They carry a lot of bulk items much like Costco, without all the crowds and the hassle of membership. You can also buy items in smaller quantities much like a regular grocery store. However, they do not have quite the selection of a full service supermarket. I have found that most of the items that they do carry are usually priced a bit cheaper than the supermarket as well. The rotisserie chickens are also quite excellent, and make for an easy and quick ready cooked dinner. read more

The rotisserie chicken here is absolutely the juiciest most tender chicken I've had in Oxnard. The employees don't seem the happiest though . While I was there the customer service clerk was on her phone instead of finishing up my check out process. She was irritated for some reason. The woman in the liquor aisle was also hiding around the corner on her phone. Eh didn't let it get to me we all have things that need to be taken care of at home. Having a Smart & Final Extra nextdoor to LA Fitness is awesome. Major quality of life improvement. Affordable fresh produce and groceries means a lot to me. Plenty of wide open parking. Management does a good job keeping this store stocked and clean. I no longer need to drive accross town for supplies for my BBQ's and stuff. Life is good. read more

Having said, i've Been on R & R, needed a few vittles since i decided to stay here a few extra day's, so looking thru Yelp, this area Oxnard & Port Hueneme, isn't favorably generous with a lot of Super-Markets, of course there is a Von's, Ralph's, but Smart & Final Extra was the nearest Market so i took a quick jaunt down Ventura Blvd & Channel Island, they dfinitely have a big parking lot and the store is Huge as most have stated, almost like a Costco's or Sam's, rows and rows of isles, and a good abundance of dry goods, frozen food,....got my Diet Coke and some water, now come's the down-side, the cashier wasn't overly friendly or happy, not rude but as some else mentioned a Smile goes a long ways for customer service, also never asked if i needed a shopping bag or help, i'm Being generous giving this store 2 Stars , and will not be returning anytime soon, hell might as well go to a Liquor Store!!! read more

I had never shopped at a Smart & Final until a little more than a month ago, but I'm glad I finally did. This chain seems to have it all--from fresh produce and baked goods to kitchen and general home supplies. I believe there are some hot food items available too. PROS: -The manager and his/her staff keeps the store very clean and well-lit. -Everyone here is friendly and helpful. -Good quality produce and baked items. -Great selection of home and small business supplies (i.e., takeout trays, condiment dispensers, cleaning supplies, napkins, etc.) -They carry Mountain High Yogurt (so good)! CONS: -$0.10 per plastic bag, because...California. Ugh. (On the bright side, the plastic bags are thicker and look reusable, so it's not a bad trade-off). If you live in the area and don't want to drive far to buy a few groceries, this Smart & Final is convenient. It may not necessarily have the largest selection of products, but it does the job. read more

Came here to buy a gift card for my Spotify account,turns out when i tried to redeem it it said card not valid.I really didn't care since it was just a 10$ gift card,so a week later i came by again but there was only a 30$ gift card, I thought to myself maybe the other one was just an error,but nope when I got home the card wasn't valid.I returned to the store claiming that the cards I bought weren't valid,they asked me for the receipt and I handed them the 10$ and 30$ receipt it was denied because i was missing the other receipt that comes when purchasing a gift card even though I never received one on either of my purchases.Over all a waste of time and money‍ read more

All vegan products have been removed. I asked the employee why they no longer sell vegan products. Employee stated some big wigs came in store and made a corporate decision not to sell vegan products at that store. Employee stated he did not unstated why, it was very popular and high demand I can go to Ralph's or Vons to buy what I need, no point to visit Smart & Final anymore. read more

Best customer service ever! Try to ask an employee about an item they're not just gonna say "oh aisle 3 on your left" which we commonly hear from mostly every store. Absolutely the worst customer service of any store I have ever been in! This is not the first time that I have been treated disrespected by a cashier in this store. They cannot say hello or thank you . Today I was barked at because I didn't know where to place my hand basket. This store is absolutely not managed well and I'll never be back. The salaries of your employees are paid for by the customers who shop in this store. They need to be taught that without customers they have no job! These attitudes in your checkers was obvious before Covid-19 so don't use that as your excuse! And don't send me your corporate reply that you send to everyone else. The girl who checked us out couldn't be bothered to help us pack our groceries, even after I asked her to help. Then she has the audacity to start ringing up the people behind us while our groceries are still sitting there and we're bagging as fast as we can. WTF? Could an employee be ruder? I don't think so. No fast check out, shelves always empty, lines, lines and more lines to check out every time I went. This place is poorly managed and staffed. They need to implement self check out as an option. Did an instacart order here. The place is so organized and one of the workers, Skyla, was super helpful! She bagged over $350 worth of products, didn't complain, and was fun to talk to. I just stocked up on torani syrups. $4.49 when you buy six bottles or more! Online they are $7.99 and you need to spend $60 to get free 1-3 day shipping. The only downside is you can only get the more exotic flavors online. But Smart & Final is the perfect place to get your collection started. This store does not abide by the mandated wearing of masks. Shoppers are bragging online how they can go here and shop without a mask. I'm sad that I waited so long to visit this grocery store! I feared that it would be junky and over-priced like the other stores in the area. I was shocked to find that this store exceeds the quality of any grocery chain in Ventura county. Whoever does the buying for this store is a genius! For example, there's every Torani flavor available for your coffee, or baking, and a huge selection of ice cream toppings that would be perfect for a kids' party. The selection is amazing and everything is so well-stocked an organized. I was also impressed to see that everything that you might need for an outdoor party is there: gazebo, chairs, umbrellas, dry ice, etc.! Love this store! The staff are awesome too! I do some of my grocery shopping here. Their produce is excellent. They have anything you can think of in their produce section. They also have a lot of things sold in bulk, to stock up on or for a party. Every time I need disposable containers this is my go to place. They often have great deals with no coupons required. This is a fairly new store so their carts are all nice and work perfectly. The store is clean. Employees are ok. If you need help they will help but they are not overly friendly. There is rarely a huge line and usually two registers open. read more

This store takes no consideration for their customers. I was in a ten person line, the other line had 16 people and the cashier - runs to the back of the store twice to check on the price of a box of tissue. Really? Was it 97 cents or 99 cents? Everyone was just really frustrated by this behavior. I would like to say this was an isolated event, but the teens that work here just have no clue how to be helpful. read more
