I have been shopping at this location for the past 3 weeks as my primary weekly grocery shopping store. My experiences have now all been very positive. Most other shoppers I have encountered have been polite and have said "excuse me" when trying to get past. The clerks have all been friendly and efficient at the check out. Also, props to the clerks that are stocking the shelves when it's been so busy and they have to work around customers that are checking out products in the display they need to stock. The produce has been too notch. I've seen some strawberries that have seen better days but all in all, everything is extremely fresh looking and tasting. Each trip I check out new-to-me products and have liked them all. Even the parking lot has been a better experience. It's still busy at the time that I shop but at least no close calls to getting hit. read more

Reading the Fearless Flyer again and discovered Al Pastor diced pork shoulder in the refrigerated section. DELICIOUS! Perfectly seasoned. We made tacos and added onions, cilantro and cheese. This will be a regular staple in our house. read more

We ran over here for a quick shopping trip on a Wednesday evening. I've never been to a Trader Joe's with such great parking! The lot is big, the store is big, and when we were ready to check out there were several available cashiers. The store had everything on our list and we were on our way quickly. I absolutely love my local Trader Joe's. Everyone here, and I mean everyone is so kind and helpful. They take pride in their service and it shows. From the moment you walk in and someone is there to greet you or help you get a cart. I always love when they get new items in. Like the Chicken Bacon Cheddar Dip that Rob was sampling today. Guys! It was delicious. His tip was Jalapeno Poppers! Might my the winning appetizer this Super Bowl! The store is always clean! Even the bathrooms. It is well organized and I love that they are always looking for ways to improve the shopping experience with the flow of where items are placed. I have always had a positive experience at Trader Joe's, but my local one seems to go above and beyond! There's a smile on my face everytime from the interactions with the employees. I rarely write reviews, but I felt the need to share my experience. I've visited this location several times and the cashiers often seem dismissive with no greeting, little eye contact, and very minimal interaction. At first I thought it might just be me, but I've had the same experience each time I visit. I have also noticed much warmer interactions with other customers who may not look like me. After reading some of the other reviews, it seems others may have felt the same way. I hope management takes a closer look at the customer service here and ensures everyone is treated with the same respect. read more

I was in the area on a trip and decided to come in. The store was very clean and organized which was nice. Employees were actively stocking the shelves and making sure there was enough product for everyone. I came on a Friday around 1pm and it was a little busy. I was able to walk all the isles to see what I wanted. I went to check out and Quinn was very nice and helpful. If I'm in the area again I will definitely be back. There is plenty of parking and other stores in the same plaza which was a plus. read more

I have to agree with the other recent review about racist microagressions from cashiers. My cashier("T . Beau") was so nice and friendly to the woman before me, yet he didn't bother to greet me as he scanned my items. A few items in, I said "hi" first, and he gave me a limp "hey". Zero eye contact that whole time, and was looking all around the store as if it would've killed him to make small talk with me, let alone look in my direction. Bagger was friendly and definitely caught on that something was weird because he flashed me a bunch of awkward smiles during the transaction. The other location in Ventura is way better. I can't say all their cashiers are like this, but I can confidently say I will never come back. read more

I try to avoid this location unless I absolutely need something. The workers here are rude, never greet you or help you out, and openly talk about their personal business out loud in front of the customers. They seem agitated most times. Smaller Trader Joes from what I have experienced. The freezer section is only one aisle. They have a decent sized liquor section though. Staff is nice as always. Good selection of chicken, beef, and salmon. Good selection of sandwhich breads, I found gluten free white bread. read more

GETTING HERE: This TJ's is the one located next to Target at the Pacific View Mall on Mills Road in Ventura. Convenient access to parking and other businesses in the area. This is my TJ's of choice :-) REVIEW: Here is another business that I have not yet reviewed. Much to my chagrin! I prefer this Trader Joe's over the other one for many reasons. Their shelves and items are better stocked and I just get a better vibe here from their employees and their customer service. Maybe they're friendlier because they're closer to the beach, haha. I've always been pleased with whatever I purchase here, and if there's ever a question about an item location or why they do/do not carry an item, I feel heard and respected when I ask. That's v cool. I love their Tangerine juice, ALL their chocolate thingz, they also have this caramelized onion chess that is Heavenly. Find it! Their salads are fresh and also convenient, and when I pop in my go-to staples include their Beet Juice, too. So dang good. Recommend. Thanks TJ's! read more

Love their flower selection, hate the checkout experience. My husband and I have been going here for the past 2 going on 3 years and I have experienced that the clerks service to dark skinned people are subpar. I recently found out that it is in the job expectations that clerks must uphold some kind of conversation or politeness as in a simple hello back which is the reason for my review. Clerks have gone out of their way to be passive aggressive (one in particular which we avoid at all costs) or just ignore us and talk to the clerk behind them. I receive good treatment only when I as a woman go alone, he doesn't at any time and I find these micro aggressions to be unacceptable. We are paying customers and deserve some basic human decency! read more

UPDATE 3: Finally after a couple of reminder emails that I had to send to their corporate office the matter has been mended. I want to thank TJs for not ignoring me and actually trying to find a way to close this chapter so we can move on. I have changed my rating from 1 to 3 stars. UPDATE 2: Total lack of response from TJ. As I wrote before, the person who called me from TJ Ventura location, blamed me for my horrible experience. Sad, sad customer service. The corporate CS is ignoring me. UPDATE: Finally, after 2 weeks, and sending a second email to the corp office, I heard from someone at the location. Basically she was trying to put the blame on me, saying people bring non-TJ bags all the time and there are no issues and the cashier told her that the bag did smell. I did tell her that the bag was not only pristine, but after I put the content in the car, I brought the bag back to the store and placed it right on the customer service counter while I was talking to the person in charge to inspect. Frankly, I am not happy at all with this so-called resolution by TJ. I have been a Trader Joe's customer for about 30 years. I have been spending thousands of dollars annually at TJs, not just in California, but other states as well. But today, one of their cashiers, named Maureen (W, Maureen on receipt), at store 218, Till 3, really offended me and she did that intentionally. I always bring my own bag and I usually get thanked for it by the cashiers at TJs. Today Maureen told me that, my pristine shopping bag smells like cat urine. Although I don't know why she was so disgustingly rude, I can only image it may have been because the bag wasn't TJs. How vomit inducingly ugly and crass to talk a TJ customer in such a nasty way. How disgusting! I went to the customer service station and complained, but all I got was a phony, "we are sorry." They couldn't care less. read more

I don't usually leave reviews, but I really wanted to acknowledge the staff there today. I have always had positive, friendly interactions with the workers at this store. I was in there today and my toddler dropped a jar of pickles on the floor and it shattered. I am pregnant and emotional and I think they could see the immediate distress on my face. As soon as it happened, multiple people rushed over and acted like it was not a big deal at all and were extremely kind. Maybe it actually wasn't a big deal, but it felt like it in the moment and I'm so thankful for their reaction. If they had acted any other way, I could have very easily broken down into tears. I don't think Trader joes even needs a review because everyone loves their store so much. The foods so affordable for huge families like ours. You can get two weeks worth of groceries for half the price of Vons or somewhere. The foods really quality and delicious too. I go here on my days off for fun. I usually don't go to Trader Joe's but when I do it's always a hit or miss. I'm a hispanic teenage female and I feel like i'm always being stared at like if i'm doing something wrong. I went in today and I got stared at (nothing new). But as i went to pay the cashier (male around 50) took my items and didn't say ANYTHING to me. He rang me up, gave me my receipt and walked away. I don't know if maybe that's just me or if it was just kind of rude.. Usually the cashiers are so much nicer and make my experience better but this one made me feel not so good. Not so welcome. I wasn't even greeted at the front door like everyone else was before me. I'll probably be going to the other Trader Joes in Ventura. Also Ventura people please be nicer! I went to Trader Joe's with my service dog and as I walked in was asked/told (which they are NOT allowed to do) dogs are not allowed. I advised he was my support dog to which he said 'they are not allowed in'. I told him you can't ask me and if necessary I can show him his papers. He asking again is he a service dog I said 'yes' He said no you said he's a support dog. I said 'you're splitting hairs, I have paperwork stating my dog needs to be with me'. He said 'a service dog and come in but not a support dog'. OMG!!! Because I said support I instead of service he stood there arguing with me and would not see my dog's service paperwork. ---- which he has no right to ask for but I was willing to show. It is a pretty well stocked store however, the other store here is much better stocked with more different items. I normally shop at the Simi Valley store because it is closer to me. That is a much smaller store so if I'm in the Ventura area I will do my shopping here. read more

Trader Joe's on Mills is yet another wonderfully consistent and refreshingly positive TJ's experience. I normally visit the location on Victoria, but recently started riding my bicycle to run errands and the Mills Road location is much closer to my house. As a result of my substantial and ill-advised investments in cryptocurrency and jojoba oil, both of which took a real beating this year, I've had to drastically cut my expenses. I stopped driving my car and don't eat out nearly as much as I used to. Instead, I've started focusing on the simple things in life like gardening, riding my bike, and spending more time on the open road with my pet chicken, Lorraine. Excusing myself to "take my chicken for a ride" is therapeutic for me but generally requires some explaining to others, which is a sad commentary on our limited suburban existence. And, for the record, salacious euphemisms are the lowest form of humor. Trader Joe's customer-centric business model is far superior to most other retail grocery stores. In fact, I'll often visit TJ's just to engage in positive social interactions. TJ's staff is helpful to a fault. On occasion, that positive support has backfired on me, however. Eight years ago a TJ's crew member encouraged me to pursue my dream to be an MMA fighter. That dream ended 20 seconds into my first amateur fight when I was punched in the face so forcefully that I saw my paternal grandmother who died two years before I was born. More recently, a TJ's crew member who was stocking the nut shelves at the Victoria location agreed that an electric blanket is a great Christmas gift. In her defense, she had no way of knowing that my Uncle Bob was a bedwetter. Uncle Bob is fine now, and the surge protector works like a charm, but that was a tough holiday season for everyone. Trader Joe's stores allow you to fall into a comfortable and supportive shopping rhythm while enjoying high quality goods at a fair price. One is also able to grow and develop in one's personal tastes and appetites, insofar as new TJ's products are continuously showing up on the shelves and favorites disappear without warning or fanfare. Ultimately, we are all responsible for our own choices in life, but having someone supportive in your corner who helps us grow in some way makes all the difference in the world. This Trader Joes is conveniently located for me. It is at the end of the Pacific View Mall, and has lots of parking which is good. Despite these plusses, I really prefer the Victoria Avenue TJs. This one is smaller, and has a more crowded feel to me. That said, TJs is a TJs is a TJs. This one carries the same collection of good food, wines and other items you expect to find. read more

This is one of the nicest and best laid out TJ's I've ever been to. It shares a mall parking lot, so there's plenty of parking. As soon as you enter the store you notice how open and well-laid out this store is. The aisles seem wider, the displays seem more organized. The grocery shopping gods are happy here! But wait -there's more!! The store is flipped from usual tjs in that alcohol section is first (to your right when you enter) and the produce is on the other side . Yeah!!! Now I can get my adult beverages first, and then my food after. The service here was really friendly, I spoke w a few employees about some products and they were happy to help. Also, the cashier opened a choc bar I wanted to buy to let me try it, which I know is tjs way, but I've been at a few locations where they act so stingy on letting you try before you buy. I'll definitely be coming to this store for all my shopping when @ California home. read more

My husband and I just recently started shopping here. The employees have always been friendly and very helpful. They have a nice assortment of different things and I find even the frozen items are good. Not your typical "Hungry Man" or "Swanson's" frozen dinners. We have been on a kick lately making our own pizza. Their pizza dough (herb) is delicious and easy to prepare. We also like their pizza sauce. I was here last night for a few things and found that they carry Shamrock plants. What a coincidence, since it's almost St. Patrick's Day. I purchase 2 for our place. The other ones we had were so old and when we moved I decided that it was time for them to go. But the true history behind the plants is our cat. Shamrock is named for the plant that she liked to chomp on when she first adopted us. I felt like she was missing something, so I hope that these plants will bring her happiness. Besides the plants, I find that Trader Joe's is 1st - Very close, 2nd - Carries just about everything you would need for a meal, 3rd - There plants and flowers are keepers and last the prices aren't as high as I thought. In fact, I went over to Vons today and was going to buy 2 more Shamrock plants until the clerk at the flower stand was rather rude. Maybe she's having a bad day (I'll pray for her) But all I wanted was a carrier for the plants so the soil wouldn't leak out. They don't have anything like that. So - put the plants back and over to TJ's I went. I got 2 more plants which are twice the size of the ones at Vons and the price was less. Bonus Note: Trader Joe's is right next to Bev Mo . I typically have had many sweet, positive experiences at every Trader Joe's I visit, including this one. However when I went to purchase my groceries this evening I brought my therapy dog with my inside the store while I held her - she weighs 3 lbs. and is silent & a bother to no one. Unfortunately today while I was shopping i was aggressively approached by a short male Caucasian employee with brown hair wearing a blue Trader Joe's Hawaiin shirt and khakis (didn't catch his name unfortunately) and told "WE DON'T ALLOW PETS IN THE STORE." with an expression that said "GET OUT." This was appallingly inappropriate to me. I have a doctor's note for my therapy dog which I take with me everywhere. She is also a yorkie with no voice box so she LITERALLY doesn't make a sound. Not only was the employee horribly rude to me but also once I (quietly- the situation was very embarrassing for me.) informed him I carried a doctor's note for my therapy dog he responded with "OK." ...shoulder shrug and walks away. What the hell. I've never been so embarrassed or insulted by an individual while they were working at the establishment, especially one I usually so look forward to shopping at like Trader Joe's, that employs them like I was today. I almost started crying immediately; thankfully I was able to compose myself and then speak with the cashier that checked me out - his name was Matthew C.- was incredibly civilized and apologized several times when I related my anxiety and upset over the situation. I don't want the employee fired or on probation. I'd like him to receive inclusivity and disability awareness training. Also to be informed that maybe...he should just calmly ask about a situation of which he is COMPLETELY UNINFORMED & CLEARLY IGNORANT of and is blatantly assuming and not remotely apologetic regarding. read more

I haven't been in here since early March and I used to be a weekly customer at this store prior to the pandemic. I definitely like to give credit where credit is due and let me tell you every single employee I ran into today asked me if I needed help, made small talk with me, thanked me for coming in, and even offered to help me select a good wine lol. This location has got it together in every department from the greeters to the guys sanitizing the carts to the cashiers to the employees stocking the shelves. Very appreciative to all the essential workers and I will happily continue to support this store. An added bonus is that it's right next to BevMo and Target; makes running errands very convenient! I love this Trader Joe's in Ventura. It's in a busy area right next door to Bevmo which also shares their parking lot. The staff is very helpful and friendly. This store actually had in-stock during the holiday season what most other TJs had already sold out of such as their limited edition seasonal Danish Kringle. If lived in Ventura again, this would be my go-to grocery store! I love the energy of this location, the store size and the fact that they are always well stocked! What has happened to Trader Joe's? I know we are recovering from the Pandemic, but what ever the cause I have noticed a definite change at Trader Joe's stores in Ventura. The product line has grown stale, nothing knew or innovative. Trader used to be known for it great cheese selection, but you can get a better cheese choice at Ralph's. Have also been making more product returns due to spoilage or poor quality. Fun products seem to disappear from the shelves and are not replaced with anything as good or better. Just a basic old product line that has become boring. The wine selection has become boring too.....It's as if Trader's product buyers all quit....Simply put Trader has lost its zest and pizazz.....It's becoming just another old grocery store. read more
