a car parked in front of a store

Came by to grab some groceries the other day and it was a quick and easy experience. Parking was plentiful in the private lot. The interior of the grocery store was dimly lit and felt a little grimey with the beige/brown/grey tones throughout the store. The produce section was perhaps half filled and the dried merchandise seemed to be well stocked. Checkout was quick and easy with a minimal wait.

SFE is sticking some interesting cold brew selections- one of my favorite places to shop just got better

LOCATION: Super convenient; this is my favorite location because it's so easy to get in and out - parking is always a breeze here on Mary & Fremont. They have a steady flow of customers but never over crowed; the cashiers and managers know how to work together to keep the store flowing. SELECTION: their produce section is always organized, fresh offerings and interesting finds. From the greens to the bakery, frozen section, candy delights and liquors galore they have it all - always stocked and organizedZ CUSTOMER SERVICE: the staff is super friendly and fast to help; they keep the lines flowing. Bonus: Rotisserie chicken kiosk is stocked twice a day with fresh hot chicken to-go! Easy dinner

I've always had good luck at this one , most of the items ( well maybe I could find every thing other than salt for the water conditioner ) they have on stock for being a smaller store. Produce selection is very good and for the drinks and spirits selection surprisingly large again for a smaller one. Staff is always super friendly from the cashiers to the asst manager who have needed help from in the past. The overall place is always clean and bright with items well arranged. Other than sometimes the water in bulk not being in the size you want. Nothing but positive here. Also great parking and never too crowded

$1.49 for 6 ounce of raspberries

Shopping here twice in one week at the height of the coronavirus pandemic! Don't often come here, as a 2 mile walk from my house, while Safeway, Trader Joe's, Dollar Tree, and Sprouts all within 0.5 miles walking distance of my house, and Target 1 mile from my house. So there has to be something special on sale for me to drive here. Came here at 7am on a Monday morning, lured by several bargains in the newspaper ads: 69 cents a pound Bartlett Pears, 99 cents for a head of lettuce, $1.49 a pound black grapes. Also needed to warm up the battery of the Honda Fit, as hasn't been driven in 18 days. Sign outside says it all: all customers must wear masks, no more than 2 customers per party, no outside bags permitted, 6 foot social distancing within the store, no customers coughing or fever allowed. Store hours 6am-10pm, with Tuesdays and Thursdays 6am-8am reserved for those age 60+, the disabled, pregnant women and hospital medical first responders. I grab a cart that has been stored overnight in the rack, to minimize germs. No hand sanitizer at the entrance. Get pears, grapes, lettuce, potato salad, bananas at 55 cents a pound, 64 ounce apple cider at $2.29 each, and even a dozen eggs at $2.49, only to realize when I got home that the eggs expired today! Found 6oz packages of raspberries on sale for 99 cents apiece. Leftovers from the weekend, I take the bottom packages next to the refrigerated cooler rack. Got to eat these within 24 hours before they mold. Also got a 24 roll package of toilet paper for $13, the first time I have ever seen toilet paper at S&M, I mean S&F during the pandemic. Add this to my 3 purchases of 4 rolls apiece from Safeway, 16 rolls from Dollar Tree, and 12 rolls from Trader Joes, bringing my total purchases to 64 rolls in the past 48 days of the pandemic shelter in place. At checkout, I load up the conveyor belt with packaged food first, and produce last, so that I can move 10 feet over to watch the products and prices appear on the screen behind the plastic barrier. More likely that cashier will make a mistake in hand entering the 4 digit produce code, than the automatic product scanner. Sure enough, as the young cashier failed to notice that the 3 packs raspberries were on sale for 99 cents each, and rung them up at $2.99 each. All sales final, so once out the door, you're SOL if you get overcharged. And if you are walking home, don't rely on them giving you a bag. Like a lot of supermarkets, S&F ran out of bags on the weekend, so Monday you have to carry everything in your bare hands the 2 mile walk home, or push the shopping cart home! This is not a good idea, as they scan the id marker on the bottom rack of the cart with each purchase, to link the customer credit card number to the cart. If the cart is missing at the end of the day, they would look up the last transaction, and your credit card number could be charged. Also you could get a within 6 feet visit from the Sunnyvale Police, while pushing that cart on public sidewalks!

Love the ample parking, prime location, and how spacious it is inside. The rewards system is essentially a 1% cash back at a 1000pt cliff -- meaning you get $10 after you spend $1000 but no redemptions before that. Being a member also doesn't get you any additional discounts vs non-members. But hey it's free so it doesn't hurt. I'll always support there being more Asian grocery stores in the West Side of the South Bay. H-Mart always had that spot for me, but now it's shared. Mega Mart's marketed as a more premium store, but it does its best when they're running sales. Price between the two are pretty neck and neck. You'll spend anywhere from $70-$200 per trip cuz the small things do add up. They used to have prepped food marked off anywhere from 30-70% off in the final and early hours of the day. Now, it's an inconsistent luck of the draw. However, I've never had an issue with food quality with anything I've purchased whether it be prepped food or raw ingredients. 4/5, solid store. Hope they continue to grow and thrive as a mainstay of the community.

Whenever I shop here, I grab mushrooms, bok choy, cabbage, sesame oil, and vegan kimchi. They have a deli area with lots of pre-cooked food, but most of it isn't vegan-friendly, so I usually skip the deli items. I've tried the veggie japchae twice, but it's been very inconsistent. The first time it was good, but the second time, the taste was off. They used to have really good seasoned vegan crispy tofu bites in the frozen section. I can't remember the brand, but I haven't seen them in a while, so maybe they didn't have enough interest to keep them in stock? The line can get pretty long sometimes, but it usually moves quickly. There's plenty of parking, but I've noticed that most customers park poorly (not within the lines), so it can be a bit tricky to find a good spot. I'd probably come here more often if they had a better vegan / plant-based selection.

It's been quite some time since I visited Hankook. I've always been impressed by their cooking…read morelineup. And as usual, their collection was extensive and comprehensive. They had the usual array of nonstick pots, which don't work very well for me. They had a small but useful section for clay pots. I thought Amazon and AliExpress had overpriced clay pots, but I was wrong. These prices were significantly higher. I can only hope these are the best of the best. Checking up on 99 Ranch, I couldn't even find clay pots in there more limited kitchen utensil section. I ran across one item where knockoffs are ubiquitous. They've completely flooded AliExpress and you have to watch it with Amazon. Hankook had the authentic item and at significantly lower price than both Amazon and Aldi express. I found a tea section to be well stocked. I also recognize some of the tea brands. 99 Ranch has gone with lower cost options, but if you buy 6 ounces of tea, are you gonna be stuck with an enormous supply. Better to go with reliable brands that I have enjoyed in the past. I loved the produce section. It was nice and fresh. It also had wider selection of produce than other supermarkets. The store itself is stunning. The the aisles are spacious. The store is meticulously clean. The shelves are fully stocked. There were only about two items which were shopped out. The snack area and the frozen foods were even more interesting. It's obvious in those two sections that there were many more Korean brands. I should've tried some, but it's hard for me to resist snacks and there was a good chance that would finish the entire bag in one go. Better to skip it entirely. The parking lot for the supermarket is spacious. I had no trouble finding a spot even though I arrived in the late afternoon when everybody has gotten off work. I live about two hours away. And I am very jealous because there is no Hankook near me.

We have purchased a wok from here, twice, and they were reasonably priced (around $35 if I recall), and we got a spare lid for a reasonable price as well. They always have inexpensive produce, lots of fresh stuff. I got a bag of bok choy for $2. I think if you are looking for Asian produce, a great place to shop. They also have a lot of prepared foods, snack foods, etc. Everything is reasonably priced. They do have a large enough parking lot, and usually we park on the side to avoid the chaos.
