First time shopping at this Smart & Final, and I actually really liked the store. I was ready to become a regular customer--until I dealt with COLLEEN at the front. Her attitude was honestly terrible. She was rude, dismissive, and spoke to me like she was ordering me around rather than helping a customer. She barely acknowledged what I was saying, and had a constant annoyed attitude. It's a shame because I really liked the store, but one person's attitude completely ruined my experience. I went to this location since I was visiting my cousin's cookout and was asked to bring some grocery asap. The food there smells bad, some of the meat definitely look spoiled but they have it out anyways for people to grab. If I wasn't careful I would've been a victim of severe food poisoning. read more

I travel back and forth from Rancho and upland and passed by this smart n final. It's more of a convenient store that isn't too convenient. It's really small. And doesn't have a lot of produce and other options like the normal more larger stores. Went in with a list of regular items in produce and meat, and left with about 75% still on my list. I come here often. But this place is notorious for bait and switching on their prices. They would label an item for a certain price and then when you pay, they charge you a different price. This practice is prohibited under California Business and Professions Code § 12024.2, which states that at the time of sale, a person may not charge an amount greater than the price advertised or displayed for that commodity. Today was the fourth time this has happened, and the checkout price was about double what was on the price tag. When you confront them about it, they play like they don't know. This is a predatory practice. At the very least, honor the tag price. I won't be coming back. And I will be reporting this to the Department of Weights and Measures. I went shopping there today to pick up a few things, they have chicken on sale because it's Best Buy date is tomorrow and the next day. I purchased a chicken with the rest of my groceries took it home and opened the package to put it straight into the oven. The chicken was rancid. Obviously had been for a while. I immediately took it back to the store to exchange it for one since I needed to cook chicken today. A different lady at the register said get in line and will refund it for you. I said well let me go get a replacement and we'll just do the difference and I set the chicken down. I went and picked out a replacement that was not on sale. And I saw the woman that had cash me out 15 minutes earlier so I thought I'd be polite and say the chicken that I had bought was bad so that no one would get sick she said well they'll return it for you at the front you did bring your receipt right? I said no I didn't and she said we can't refund it without your receipt. I said you rang me up 15 minutes ago what a nightmare don't ever shop at this store. read more

Do yourself a favor & DO NOT shop at the Baseline location. Hands down the worst customer service known to man! Unless you love wasting your time; as sale items are consistently not restocked & there is always a insufficient number of cashiers on duty to expedite checkout. 3.5 Stars Smart & Final serves its purpose. The prices here are decent. I suppose they are known for being "the smaller faster warehouse store." Between all the various grocery stores we frequent, Smart & Final is probably second to Trader Joe's. Costco third and Ralph's fourth. We only shop at Ralph's or Stater Bros if there's sale on meat. I love Costco, but hate going there when it's busy... parking, banging shopping carts, and then the lines. Regarding Smart & Final....at least the times we go, there's never a line and we are in and out within 10 minutes. I would not dare compare Smart & Final to Costco... it should stand on its own. Some of their items do come in bulk, but nowhere like Costco. The only negative I could say about this location is the awkward parking lot with diagonal parking spaces. (Although the Smart & Final parking lot in Monrovia is the worst!) Smart & Final DOES NOT fulfill all our needs, but like I said... it serves its purpose and we can get most of the stuff we need here if we don't want to make a trip to Costco. What do we buy? ================== MEAT - e.g. Pork shoulders when they are on sale. My husband smokes them and makes pulled pork! Ribs, chicken etc. They sell excellent meat rub here. (dry seasoning) VEGGIES/FRUIT: 5 lb bag of cabbage, shredded lettuce, bananas, blueberries, strawberries. COFFEE: CoffeeMate is cheaper here than at Fresh & Easy (by like $1!). They also have sales on K-cups once in a while. SALAD DRESSING: I love their Asian Ginger salad dressing. They are usually on sale for like $3 something. My husband always gets the Italian dressing, Thousand Island and Chipotle dressing GREEK YOGURT: They sell Fage Greek yogurt here. I'm in love with that stuff. (The container at Costco is larger.) I usually eat it with honey, berries and granola. FOOD: Tortillas, Bread (they sell King's Hawaiian bread here! Rolls & Hamburger buns), Squaw, PARTY SUPPLIES: This is where the bulk items come in handy. For our potlucks or parties... we get those aluminum warming trays, disposable coffee cups with lids, table coverings, CANDY: I don't often buy candy, but had to occasionally for functions. Was in Rancho Cucamonga store (#467) at 3:58 PM on 4/21/22. Bought items totaling $8.74. Gave the cashier (Connor) a twenty dollar bill, along with eighty cents in change. Of course if you know math, you would expect $12.06 back. ($20.80 paid minus $8.74 owed equals $12.06 due back in change) What did I get back?? $10.36 ($1.70 short). When I told the cashier that it wasn't right, he explained he rang it up based on the twenty dollar bill (despite my saying I had the change) and he was just not able to do the simple math, nor understand how he had shorted me. WHY IS HE WORKING AS A CASHIER IF HE CAN'T DO MATH?? Yeah, sure, I could have argued with him, or demanded to see the manager, but why bother. We went into Smart and final this morning and lined up for toilet paper at 5:30. Store opens at six. Employees came and went and never said a word. Then when we finally got in, they were out of toilet paper or had no delivery. I thought it was completely rude that they did not notify us that they had no toilet paper. Absolutely no respect for the store in these times! Very very rude! And the manager Art was completely insensitive to the situation. He could care less that we had all been waiting out there for half an hour and they never said anything to us. I will not support the store any longer in the future. This is where to go in a pinch, when you don't have time or want to deal with Costco. Smart & Final doesn't keep a proper stock. Examples I've had problems with: laundry detergent , frozen items and dog food. You could speak to the manager and let them know, every time they are out, but you will get a blank look back. I was told they order 2 (yes, two) at a time of the particular detergents I buy. Case closed. Well, it seems to me there are more than 2 residents in Rancho. Someone's using my soap! Another pet peeve is that if they have a two-for sale (i.e. 2 for $5). You CAN'T buy one expecting to get it for $2.50. You HAVE to buy two. Grocery stores don't do that. There seems to be an inordinate amount of hate of this place, but my experiences here don't reflect it. First off, I don't (nor should you) expect this place to be a surrogate Costco or Sam's Club. If you do, expect to be disappointed. I come here because I can buy packs of luncheon meat not sized to feed a family of 10, or just common items like potato chips and such. They advertise mango syrup at a special price if you buy 6. The problem is that they never have 6 on hand. We asked to get the special price anyway because we would buy 6 if they had them. They said no. Thaty can't do that. They said to go back the next day, they still didn't have it. Why do they advertise what they don't have? Why can't they get enough supplies and correct me if I'm wrong but it isn't the customer's fault that they don't get enough supplies of the advertised price. This is a pretty small Smart and Final, but for the most part it's pretty nice. It's in a run down shopping center with a lot of older buildings and stores. The inside of this store is pretty clean though. Just not a huge selection like other Smart and Finals I've been to. read more

Sorry, but all groceries do that same 2 for one deal. You can't buy just one and expect 1/2 the price...no....ask them sometime to ring up just one. Also groceries always mess up the cost of items. And sometimes items don't even ring up the sale deal at all at the register. Almost 100% of the time errors are in their favor. Planned or accidental? So watch closely while they ring up the sale items. I catch them not giving me the deal that was posted at the item, almost 50% of the time. read more

The store is kept clean and they have good deals on many products as well. I also like the 10cent shopping bags or the bigger black bags for a $1.29 The parking lot can get full during the afternoon , but there is usually plenty of places to park in the morning or evening. Most of the employees who work here are nice or helpful. I like shopping here and the other cashiers are always friendly , just doing their job and making small talk without intruding on the customer. read more

Went and got ribs for the four for July holiday got home cleaning preparing three packs that's six slabs lotta work cooked a half of slab just to check them out to my disbelief the ribs were freezer burnt didn't taste fresh at all I believe they're probably just too old when they froze them and package them Took them back to the store I did get a refund but ruin my fourth of July holiday they didn't even look in the bag customer service was all right but I will not be buying meat from there again One stars too much at this point read more

Called the store to check the availability on a product, I talked to the manager and was told they had the item I was looking for but when I asked if he was able to hold it for me he quickly gave me an attitude even though I told him I would be there within the hour. Once I arrived I did some shopping and when I went to pay the same manager was going to ring me up. I had a few questions about the dry ice and how I'm able to purchase it (I have never purchased dry ice before) and he wasn't too knowledgeable but that was okay. The part I was completely offended by is when he kept telling me how expensive it was and if I was sure I wanted to purchase it because of how expensive it was. Just because I don't dress the fancy part and don't look like I have all kinds of money it doesn't mean that I can't afford it. I thought that was so rude.
