I'm really not sure why there are so many bad reviews for this location. When I need to quickly grab supplies for parties when visiting my parents or in-laws, we always come to this Smart & Final and have never been disappointed. They always have what we're looking for with very reasonable prices. From packages food, to fresh produce, to paper goods. This S&F has always served us well. I will say staff can sometimes be hard to find outside of the checkout area. So if you are having some trouble finding an item, you might be on your own. But when you do interact with staff, they are friendly and helpful. I just wish there were more of them working the aisles. Parking lot is a bit iffy. It's busy and people often park really poorly either taking up 2 spots or parking so off to the side that you'll have trouble getting in/out of your car. But honestly, this Smart & Final is a great resource for your bulk item needs. Especially if you come early in the morning. You can often easily get in, grab everything you need, and get out much quicker than you could at other bulk item stores (you know what one I'm talking about). On December 15, 2025, at 7:23 PM, I bought groceries. Upon check out I grabbed two Sephora gift cards totaling 100$ as Christmas presents for family. Both were paid for as shown on my receipt. Upon leaving, the cashier stops to tell me that an additional receipt showed that the cards were "declined" from Sephora. Yes, Smart and final took my money, but no money loaded on the Sephora gift cards. so confusing. I was told that nobody could help me then, as the person to assist works during the day shift, but that I should call Sephora tomorrow and rectify the problem. Called Sephora, had me jumping through hoops. Decided to go back to the store and have them load my hundred dollars on new cards. They said they could not do this, that all sales were final. they said I could come back the next day (day 3) and speak to the dayshift supervisor. I think it's ridiculous that I have both the receipt of purchase and the subsequent decline, showing no money on the card within the same minute, yet I could not get my money back then, the next day, and have to go back tomorrow. This sounds like a them problem!!! such a scam...cash given to family from now on. read more

Just, someone painting a wall in the aisle or fixing a sign. A loud pa system that damages your hearing. Some items are priced higher than grocery stores charge, like prunes. If they have it, big expensive packages only. Parking crowded up to one spot and risky intersection. read more

The line was very long and there was a ten or less lane so we went to that line but it had a closed sign but RAY was still checking out bags , and I asked him if he can check out my bags he pointed at the sign and said "closed" and verbally assaulted us saying "did you guys go to school can you read" He's probably RACIST because we're Mexican. I love Smart and Final, its a smaller Costco, all though they don't carry everything else Costco does, they 're more smaller and more efficient. It can busy at times but they always call for re enforcements. They carry a lot of items for restaurants but many other great household items. I often buy the 30 Pack candy bars for fundraisers and also supplies for large parties like paper plates, napkins, etc. read more

As Karla is ringing up a customer, she stops every second to chat, complain how she hurt her back, laugh, and joke with other co workers who are by the way also ringing customers. Grocery store seemed decent enough. Wasn't to happy about the prices here due to the fact I've seen better else where. But they have a lot here to sell and I'm sure if you have a no-budget-limit, you'll be fine getting everything you need here. It was very cold inside so you'd wanna where a jacket once you come in. I work for a large company that places 12 orders a year to feed and entertain thousands of people (pallets size orders) We place our orders with Smart and Finals all up and down the coast. This Smart and Final has been the worst one to work with (2 years in a row, 4 events so far) It's very important that they get EVERY LITTLE THING we order correct or things won't go smooth for our events. I send them a very detailed order (with PC codes!) on what we need and how many. First order was never followed through on and they didn't have anything ready for us (had to make 3 trips!-45min drive). Second order the "big boss" got involved and STILL they were missing product that caused me to have to scramble and search town to collect as much of that amount I knew I needed. Mind you they get these orders a WEEK in advance with multiple follow ups reassuring me "we will have it all". I don't have this problem with other stores and we WONT be using this store again. Lock your vehicle as a person of interest has been seen checking parked cars doors if unlocked at this Smart & Final. There is price gouging because of outbreak. Restroom smells, Their refridgerators power shut off due to PG&E so bought food during those times should be careful. This place is OK to shop but since the Corona 5G Virus it is not as safe or easy to shop because of the sanitation issues. Plus, check the price matches that on their computer check out. read more

Low prices, bulk buying, & most importantly no club card fees! The prices here are very competitive and hard to beat I also have a Costco Card but I still find myself coming to Smart and Final again and again. This location also has a new produce section that has a descent selection. I go grocery shopping here from time to time for large parties they have everything in bulk, produce, utensils, meat, paper plates, sodas, and even kitchen pots and pans. read more

I own a business in Soledad, so I used to go to Smart and Final Salinas at least 3 to 4 times a week, unfortunally there is a girl in charge of the produce dept, whose attitude is terrible and seems like she's forgotten where her pay check comes from, she has no customer service skills and is not helpful at all. I got tired of complaining about her attitude and nothing ever got done so now I just go all the way to Seaside, to get what I need, Yeah my drive is longer but at least they are always nice and helpful.. read more
