Worked with Kukal and Chavez who installed my EV charger. They failed to inform me of any issues with my system prior and installed it anyway. Less than 2 weeks later my main panel overloaded and took out all my 240V systems. I scheduled a service call and their master electrician Clifford Black came out to assess the damage. I was assured that they would replace the guts inside my main panel free of charge. Following this, I was left without 240V for 3 days, and I had to remind them to send me an electrical proposal on paper. Now they claim my panel had thermal damage and refuse to restore my system unless I pay them for a full panel upgrade. In addition to this, during the service call they took my breakers that melted making it harder to get the cause diagnosed by another electrician. I was left without 240V systems in the Texas heat for over a week. Update: On the followup they said my part for replacing my panel was not available. This was not actually communicated with me and the owner is trying to save face. In reality they instead sent me a bill and refused to restore my service. I used their website for a quote which took around 36 hours to receive back, once I got it I was satisfied with the thorough quote which listed out each part to be used and service needed. Clifford and Chavez were a bit ahead of schedule and called to confirm if they could come early, which was fine. They worked diligently to install a Tesla Gen 3 Wall Charger. It is charging at the full 48A and was mounted cleanly in my garage. The install took about 1.5 hours and at the end they explained everything. When we built our home, back in 2013, we had three Chevy Volts. We had two 240V outlets installed as part of the original house. 10+ years later, our garage is a stained glass workshop and parking place for three eBikes and one traditional bicycle. We needed to move one of the outlets from the head-in wall of the garage to near the overhead door opening. Since the head-in wall is insulated, we left the wiring in the wall and capped the old outlet and ran conduit to the new location. I contacted Smart Charge America to get the job done. Y'all, we simply COULD NOT be more pleased with Smart Charge America! The extremely reasonable price that my husband was quoted was what it ended up at, and the whole experience was excellent from beginning to end! For some context, we live in a classic, early-80s-built neighborhood in the north side of Austin, so we were a bit worried about the whole 2022 electricity needs in a seriously 80s real estate world, and, after loads of quotes, we were even more worried! Smart Charge America rolled in, though, and we just knew that we had found our peeps! They've obviously done this a few (thousand) times, so that assured us that we were in good hands, but it was really when Damir and Anthony showed up on install day that all was good in the world. They rolled in clearly knowing what they were doing, and they took it from there. Smart Charge America instilled confidence in me and I accepted their bid to install an EV wall mounted charger because their diligence in scoping the project was thorough. They were not the cheapest bid I received. One hour before the install was to occur they called me to let me know that the price for the job was increasing by $900 because they needed to drill a hold in concrete. After explaining why this was unnecessary and showing proof, they tell me instead the increase was instead $650 due to an increase in permitting costs (did it really go up that much in the 10 days between accepting the bid and the install?) and for "labor and materials", whatever that means. In 2020 Smart Charge America installed wiring and an outlet for my Tesla mobile charger. In 2023 I was getting an alert that the amperage to the charger was being reduced. A service call was made. A new outlet was installed along with a larger box to cover the outlet. I was assured that the change and the proper wiring was correct. In March of 2025 an alert again indicated the the amperage was reduced slowing the charging time. I suspected that the outlet wasn't adequate for the charger. My investigation proved my point. The outlet was a Leviton outlet which has been identified has a problem associated with over heating. A recent call to smart charge suggested I can replace the outlet for $80+ and a $300 service charge. I expected this to be a no charge service. The outlet is a low price outlet designed for a clothes dryer, nor a heavy duty outlet designed for electric car charging. Also, was found that a ground wire was not installed for the electric panel box to the outlet. This is a code violation. I would advise using a local contractor which you can feel comfortable with the proper install and materials. I will not use Smart Charge America to correct their mistake. read more

I was recommended to smart charge by a good friend of mine who had a great experience so I contacted them for a quote. After sending videos pictures of my home I was given a quote for everything installed over the phone for $1800 that included everything. Shortly after I received an email with a quote that was $650 over what I was originally told and it said I would be left with drywall repairs I would have to fix. I called and spoke with Dovie again explaining how I did not like that the quote was much higher and I would be left with damaged walls. I was told smart charge would send someone out to look at my home and give me a better quote and explanation. Mike the electrician stoped by the next day and told me the installation is not as difficult as they though and that he could do it all for $200 over the original quote but had to check with the company first. Few days after I get a call back from smart charge about how they can't lower the quote that it will cost $1800 in parts alone and after that they try to convince me to continue on with a 10% discount which is still more than I was originally told. I agreed to have it done for $2125 but that was not enough so they contacted me again about how they can't go lower than $200 off the $2458 quote and It makes me feel they are just haggling to raise the price because they know that I desperately need a charger installed. Few days later I get a call from smart charge, and I am told that the best they can do is what they told me and I told them that I will go ahead and shop around and I will no longer need any help. I was told they can send me another quote minus the charger itself if I was to buy the charger. I respectfully said no I will find another way and do not send me anything. They later I get a text and another quote, which is the same minus the charger that I would have to purchase. Just because there is a lot of good reviews and people have had good experience It does not mean that you will or they will treat you the same. Before you pick a company by just the rating make sure you shop around. This entire process felt like dealing with a used car salesman and we all know how that's like. Needless to say had a horrible experience with smart charge, even though they didn't even get to install anything for me. Great experience from start to finish. I requested estimates from several installers for our 1970s-era home and it took them a little longer to respond but was worth it. TL;DR on the estimate: Great price. I asked about some issues other installers mentioned and was assured that this install was safe, and in code. Rather than try to upgrade capacity on the breaker box in my garage, we opted to just put the 60 amp breaker on the main panel in the back yard and run conduit to the garage. The quote was cheaper then a couple other Tesla recommended electricians. I hired them and they were able to come the day after my Tesla was delivered. Which was within two weeks of me contacting them. The installation was scheduled for noon and they reached out to me around10am that day to see if they could come earlier. Technicians D and Brooks arrived promptly and discussed their ideas for installing the plug. This would entail them taking the plug above my door and into my garage. This method is what was discussed by Scott on the initial call and email. The two technicians completed the job in about three hours and included the 14-50 plug and a wall Mount to hold my plug. I had a fairly good experience with them, they gave me a fair quote explaining what that price estimate will include. My only problem was that I had to contact them a lot of times to get an accurate quote. Once that was finalized, getting an electrician to my house and installing it was a breeze. Disappointing. They were referred by Tesla dealer for outlet conversion. Filled out their online info to get a quote 4-5 times, but everytime I tried downloading, their system kicked me out. **UNPROFESSIONAL** The original salesman was the only good thing about using this company. Once the service was agreed to, they sent a detailed plan with dates, times and when services would be completed. The first day the electrician was supposed to show up to do prep work at 8-830. We waited until 930 and I contacted the salesman as no one had contacted us. When they followed up they said he would be there at 1. Unfortunately we already had plans and wouldn't be home but I told them the gate is unlocked and he would have access to everything. The electrician got there at 1:45, rang the doorbell and waited a few minutes before leaving. (Which tells me they didn't communicate we wouldn't be home). The next day they were supposed to be there at 8-830 to start the installation. Again we waited until 9-930 and no one showed up again. I contacted the salesman (as it's the only contact I had) and said he would follow up. We had to reschedule our day as we had planned for the power to be out and to work elsewhere for the day and get a sitter for our daughter. After waiting all day and still no communication, I followed up again. I was told the project manager would be there the next day at 930 to the work himself. I advised I didn't want the electrician they had to come as I don't trust him to work on my house. The electrician showed up at 845 the next day. The project manager called me and said they would get the panel upgrade done that day and was advised power would be back up by the end of the day. They didn't cut power to the house to start working until 1145 am, as they were still disorganized and not prepared for the job. The project manager messaged me at 330 that afternoon and said the electrician is still working and will stay until he is done but the power would be on by the end of the day. We came home around 730, as we work remotely and had to find another location to work. Once we or gone, the electrician said he had to leave and get a part. After an hour he returned and worked for another hour and then left again. This time he was gone for multiple hours. I messaged the project manager, Marlo, who kept making excuses for why it's taking so long but had no answer to why they no showed for 2 days. At 1140pm, we decided he wasn't going to come back so we decided to go stay with family for the night as our electricity was STILL out. (Myself, My wife and 9 month old daughter). As we were leaving the electrician pulled up. It is now midnight and he is working on our house. I returned to the house the next day at approximately 930am. They were still working on the panel. Power was finally restored about 1145am that day. The project manager told me he would have the VP, David Laderberg contact me. After 2 weeks, David reached out to set up a call, which already told me this want that important to them. After explaining the situation, he un empathetically stated he would look into it and follow up. He did follow up the next day and stared they would reduce the invoice by 5%. Still no real apology, just more excuses about it being the end of the quarter and bad timing. No answers to why the electrician no showed, about the multiple lies they told us I would stay far away from this company. Created a quote, paid for certified install of electric panels in California. Sales agent/representative coordinating has gone dark after an electrician came out a month ago to review submission of plans. Quoted us a 5/6 week turnaround initially, we're approaching 8/9 weeks, and have gotten about 1 update more than a month ago. Sent a followup email each week after no response. It's been 5-6 weeks since we heard anything, last contact date was 9/22. We've asked for update via email and left voice messages. There is never anyone you can reach by phone. Essentially, we've been ghosted. They were certified Tesla installers who promise this and that but are going to be awful at bothering with you the second you pay them. I'll wait another week and then start to consider legal action. read more

I'm glad some people had a good experience, and I expected the same because they had the best reviews of all Tesla recommended installers. They offered me a date and time to schedule, and I moved my schedule around it. They also emailed me the day before to confirm, with a list of things to do to get ready for the installation. Ten minutes (!!) before the electrician's arrival I get a text, not a call but a text, saying there was confusion with the scheduling office and they will be calling me soon. I never got a call though, and had to reach out to Madison myself to find out what was happening. I still have no answer why, but was told they would "try to make it right." They are double the price of other electricians, and I chose them first because you expect a level of service and professionalism with a company like this, but I got the exact opposite. I explained this to them, and the said they would try and make it up. I have a very busy schedule so finding weekdays to be available and at hoe is difficult. Not to mention with lost revenue from being home for the day. So instead of rolling the dice again, I requested a refund and chose another company doing the same installation for less than half of the Smart Charge America's quoted cost. A week later, they still have not refunded what I paid in full two weeks prior to the installation. If you don't value your time or your money, Smart Charge America may be a great option. I hired Smart Charge America to install an EV Charger. The installation was not straight forward as they had to run 80 feet of cable from the back of the house under an existing conduit through our garage closet to the front of the house. From the beginning Scott emailed me a few times so he can give me an accurate estimate for the job.
