Do not use this company. On the day of my scheduled install, I received a text message cancellation, not even a phone call. I was charged the full price. I was not given a reschedule date. I requested a refund multiple times via phone voicemail and emails with delayed and vague responses via email only. One week later, still no phone call, email, response or explanation. We recently had them install a Tesla wall charger in our garage and their company is one of the few in Austin listed specifically on the Tesla website. They were honest, professional and very efficient. Our car arrived earlier than planned and Mark was happy to move our appointment up to make sure it was ready by the time we brought the car back. First, Smart Charge America is the only company that respected my request to handle most things over email. I can't emphasize how much I appreciate this attention to detail. Their bid process is great. I submitted photos to their site as to where I wanted everything installed, and they were able to provide a bid. This was particularly nice because it meant I didn't have to wait for someone to be scheduled, then wait again to hear what their bid was, and then finally schedule the work. I got a bid before anyone else in the area even returned my contact request. Finally, they got the work done two weeks sooner than the next competitive offer. Since I am changing jobs and won't have much daytime flexibility in the very near future, this was a huge benefit for me. The install team were very professional, and finished very quickly. Overcharges for work actually done by inflating the amount of wire required for the installation. After the work was done they left a mess in my garage. I spoke to a gentlemen claiming to be the VP of the company and all he would do is go over and over things that were not pertinent to the questions I asked. Clearly an attempt to dodge the fact they were up-charging the cost of installation. Go elsewhere and get better service at a cheaper price. read more

Their installation was OK. They showed up with the wrong charger, didn't have the one we asked for, but only a more expensive one, and then made us pay the price for the more expensive one. Not a huge difference, so that's not really a big deal. The charger works fine. No real problems with it. However, they will tell you that you are eligible for a federal rebate. This is a lie. They are lying. The vast majority of people who buy a charging station do not qualify for this rebate. They made it seem as though everyone was eligible, and they put it in the quote when they calculate the total (final) cost of the station to you. Of course, you won't find out that you are not eligible until you sit down to do your taxes (note the date of this posting)...so by that time, what are you going to do?? read more

Joseph was GREAT to work with! I bought a new Leaf on Monday, had a charger installed by Friday. This was the week of New Year's Day, mind you, so some delay was expected. He does all the hard work (paperwork, city, rebates, etc.) so you don't have to. Not only that, their crew has excellent workmanship and attention to detail. They had to run a new electrical line from the back of my house to my garage, and it's all very well done. The lines are on the outside of the house. They ask for photos of main and sub panels, where I wanted the outlet in the garage, and other items. After I submitted everything I received a text message. It's been nearly a year since the SCR installed a Clipper Creek level 2 charger. I tried to work with BMW's recommended installer and was very disappointed in the response (lack of).
