For a service that families rely on during moments of grief, empathy, clarity, and reliability are essential. We did not feel supported or confidently guided through the process, and that was very disappointing. The owner and the tall gentleman helping were good - we have no complaints with them. I hope Chapel of Flowers takes this feedback seriously and improves their communication and coordination, because families deserve much better care during such sensitive moments.

Very small parking lot that has one driveway entrance that dead ends (meaning the kind of parking lot where you'd have to back out of you can't turn yourself around to drive out head first). Fortunately, the parking lot was practically empty when I arrived late afternoon within an hour of their closing. The lady at the store was very helpful and understanding. She told me that since the body would be collected at El Camino Hospital, she recommended that I contact their Mountain View location on Castro St, due to proximity to the hospital. She gave me a helpful informational checklist. And she told me more about their process and pricing. This location has a small show room with full size caskets; the Mountain View location is smaller than this, and only has "sample" size display examples mounted on a wall.

My mother passed away two weeks ago, and today I went to bring her home. We specifically upgraded and paid for a "gold/bronze" boxed urn to bring my mom home in. Instead, after getting home and unwrapping everything with my family, I discovered that her ashes had been placed in a plain plastic container. Because everything was wrapped when it was handed to me, I had no reason to believe anything was wrong. This isn't something most people have experience with, and in that emotional moment I trusted that everything had been prepared correctly. What was equally disappointing was the complete lack of empathy during the pickup. I was simply handed my mother's remains with little acknowledgment of the significance of the moment. There was no effort to verify the contents with me or ensure that everything matched what had been arranged. I have spent the last 20 years caring for my mother, and I also work in healthcare. I understand that people in this profession deal with death and grief every day. However, for families, this is not routine--this is one of the hardest days of our lives. Compassion, attention to detail, and respect matter immensely. The only positive experience I had was with the woman who originally helped my mother make her arrangements about a year before she passed. She was kind, thoughtful, and compassionate. Unfortunately, the care we received afterward did not reflect that same level of professionalism. This was one of the most painful experiences of my life, and the mistakes and lack of compassion only added to our grief. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this business. After discovering the mistake, I immediately contacted the business and am currently waiting for a return call. I sincerely hope they take responsibility for what happened and make this right. I will update my review based on how they choose to address this situation.

Stephanie was efficient in handling the communication via email and we flew in and let her in person today to pick up the death certificates. They definitely encourage using the chapel for 200 guests and it's fairly expensive but hey, what a great business this is since everyone has to deal with the death of a loved one. It's definitely a low key hustle which I totally respect. It's extremely overwhelming when you are dealing with grief but it has to be done so let the experts here help you through it. When we walked in, it was immediately a different vibe from what I've been accustomed to as far as funeral homes go. The interior of the space was really nice, clean, and well-lit. It was very modern & updated. It was a refreshing change to walk into a space like this and feel the lightness of the atmosphere vs. the heavy grief that perpetuates in a traditional older funeral home that tends to be more dimly lit and draped in warmer, more old-fashioned decor. There was ample room for the formal memorial and the reception that followed. The memorial was baseball themed to honor our friend and there was a food truck that was serving hot dogs outside in the back area of the space - it was nice that there was a side door that led people out there & that there was room to accommodate this. The staff were very attentive and kind. They were super-ftiendly & ready to provide support & assistance at the drop of a hat. It was nice to know that our friends/their clients were in good hands during a difficult time.

I found myself in a crisis situation where the sheriffs department told me to call a mortuary to come take care of a relative. It was a weekend and I had absolutely no idea how to proceed. I got out my phone and did a search for the closest mortuary and Alameda popped up. I gave them a call and explained my situation and the wonderful woman who answered my call walked me through exactly what the next steps were. I didn't get her name, but she was absolutely fantastic to work with in a very difficult situation. A few hours later, the right folks arrived and took care of the situation. The following Monday first thing in the morning we went to the funeral home and met with Paul. Paul was right out of central casting for somebody to guide us through what would happen over the next two weeks. Paul spent about an hour and a half with us that morning walking us through all of the things we needed to make decisions about and next steps. He was absolutely fantastic to work with and I can't possibly imagine how that very difficult experience could have been any better than to have been guided by Paul. I hope that if I ever find myself in this situation in the future, I can find Paul or somebody exactly like him. For the funeral itself, Michael was our funeral director and again we could not have asked for a better person to be in charge. Michael knew exactly what to do intuitively and working with him at the cemetery was absolutely fantastic. I really can't recommend Alameda Family any higher. Everything was taken care of in a perfect way.

My dad was buried here a little over a year ago and this is the second or third them I've come to see his plot only to find it covered in a pile of dirt and gravel from nearby burials. One time I even came to see that the stone had tire marks on it. I just find this extremely disappointing and I think the staff should either be more consistent with upkeep or just literally be more mindful of where they leave piles of dirt... I'd love to come see my dads plot for once without having to call the office to have someone clean it up and wait a few days for it to actually happen. Well, from my very first call (when my husband started hospice). I had no clue what I was doing, or what to ask, but Vince was professional, compassionate, and informative. He gave me pointers on how to purchase a burial plot, and offered additional helpful tips. As we ended the call he offered "Call me anytime with questions - even if you don't select us." Who does that?! Lima-Campagna-Alameda does! (I love that they truly are Family Owned) I'd looked at other funeral homes and then met with Angelo (also at Lima) - with my friend in tow. He was equally warm and helpful, and we even managed to share some laughs (thanks to my friend). And after seeing their facilities, the decision was made. Yes, it was a funeral home, but it just felt "right." Very warm and soothing (I know that sounds weird!). Hubby passed much sooner than expected, but we ended up making the final arrangements with Vince (Angelo was sad he couldn't be there that day!). I had taken their advice about finding a plot, and purchasing a casket. They saved me literally thousands of dollars (no joke!). Mind you, funerals ain't cheap - and Lima is not the cheapest (they're definitely not the most expensive either!), but they got us through the whole process as smoothly and painlessly as possible. And I never once felt like I was being nickel-and-dimed to death (can't say the same for some other mortuaries). They don't even make you pay to play your own slide-show/music on the big screen TV during visitation. My husband's funeral was yesterday and it was absolutely perfect in every way. We'd emailed a recent pic to them, and they did an amazing job of making him look very natural.
