Nice place and great hair cut but it was cash only so I had to leave and find an atm :-( it also is pretty pricey for just a simple haircut. I went to Smart Hair Studio last night for my first time. I could not be more pleased with the service that I received. Both Angela and Tanya are incredibly warm and made me feel like I had known them forever. The cut that Tanya gave me yesterday was perfect and their prices are excellent. What they offer is their full care, consultation, attention to detail and a great value. Ashley gave my short pixie a formaldehyde free keratin treatment/half head so half the price and threw in a much needed and appreciated trim so I looked super cute...then Stella did my mani/pedi. Great service and I've never had a regular polish last as long as a gel, but this one is still chip free. Quick-dry is part of the service, not an extra charge slapped on at the end.... I just got back from a great hair appointment at Smart Hair Studio. I brought Tanya a bit of a mess with my long, thick, over-processed, and too long in between cuts. I wanted a cut and color. Tanya took time to listen to what I wanted, then suggested some tweaks to make it even better. This was my first time trying red hair, and i had a bunch of mismatched colors and a long strip of regrowth. the color is now rich and vibrant and matches all over. She kept the length I wanted, but got rid of all the unhealthy ends. She was really friendly and gave me tips for styling and maintaining my color the whole time. These ladies are really, really sweet and know what they're doing. I came in wanting the Organic Keratin hair treatment but they consulted with me first and explained why a slightly stronger formula would be much better for my incredibly thick and curly hair that's been relaxed in the past. Same price and everything, just a better fit for me. And they were right! A day and hair wash later, my hair is feeling silky and smooth. During the process (which took three hours due to the craziness of my hair but would usually take around 2) Angela offered me drinks several time and made sure I was comfortable. While I was there I also witnessed Tanya giving a guy a haircut and he seemed really pleased too, so there you go, multi-talented! Would definitely recommend this place. read more

My hair is very damaged from over processing and being a previous blonde, and she really took the time to analyze my hair and make suggestions for how she could help and what we need to do to get my hair back in shape. To say I have unruly hair is an understatement and I can never find someone who can fully control all my random curls and cowlicks. Then I found Angela. Not only is she the sweetest woman ever, but she really knows what she's doing. I chose to go to her since on their website it says she specializes in men's thick and unruly hair. They were definitely right. She knew exactly how to cut and style my hair. She strikes that perfect balance between asking your opinion and using her own expert opinion to give you the best look possible. The newly expanded store is very cute and the rest of the staff seems super nice as well. Also, the prices are more than fair. I payed the same amount when I went to po-dunk salons when I lived in the south. This place is awesome. I booked an appointment for the Sunday before my wedding, for my 2 sisters, mom, and I. They basically let us rent the place out for the day as we all were getting multiple things done (hair + nails etc). Everyone was very patient, especially considering the fact that 3 out of 4 of us were late, I was being a total bridezilla and crying the entire time I got my nails done (about something unrelated, can't even remember), & we all changed our minds numerous times re: what to get. Anna (I think that was her name, purple pixie cut/?) did my hair, she was totally amazing. 2 days later I came back, realizing I wasn't crazy about it, and she fixed the highlights free of charge. All in all, my family & I were total nightmare clients and this place braved through with a smile. And my hair looked incredible on my wedding day, thank you everyone :) If I wasn't leaving NY, this would be my go-to place. Only complaint is their cash-only policy. read more

First let me start by saying everyone at Smart Hair Studio is incredibly nice and friendly! I got my hair colored by Tanya and cut by Texas, they both did an amazing job. My favorite thing about myself is my hair, i had been coloring it blonde/ ombre for a while and it looked great, then for the fall i decided to experiment with orange/ strawberry blonde, first time i got it done it looked great but the color faded fast and when i went to get it redone my hairdresser turned it bright red, and then in an attempt to fix it and go back to my original ombre- my roots came out super dark, close to black, and my ends where bleached blonde. And on top of that, the bleach completely killed my long hair. It looked horrible i was pretty depressed over it, i didn't even want to go back to my original hairdresser. After reading great reviews about Smart Hair Studio, i decided to give them a try. I'm so happy i did. I feel great about my hair, Tanya really fixed up the color and Texas gave me a really good hair cut- my hair doesn't look dead and shabby anymore and its still long! Everyone there was so patient and helpful in fixing my hair. And everyone is really nice and friendly. Hey, Great Haircut! I took my 15 yr old son, who is actually kind of particular about his hair, in for a much-needed cut. We were first time visitors, and live walking distance. Ashley was our stylist, and she put him right at ease, coaxing out what he wanted in his cut. Probably his best haircut ever! He has very straight, fine hair - she used a hand razor to take out the back & sides, leaving some length at the top. And she checked in with him several times to see if he liked the direction it was going. Great vibe in the salon - very friendly, knowledgable, patient. Sunny & bright. Tanya has been doing my hair for a few years now, even taking a call from another stylist at home so they could get my color just right (and ..she remembered it by heart?!?!) All of the staff is lovely, from the ladies who wash to those who cut and color. It's a small shop, don't bring a gaggle of people along, and it's cash or check only. Went there for a Brazillian wax yesterday and the service was great. I have not had a brazillian in a few months and typically it would hurt but it was nit that bad. It still hurt a little because it's wax to your skin but it's bearable. The lady I had I think her name was Stella or something but she was great and really experienced. I got my hair cut with Ashley, the junior style, about 2 months ago and it was the most positive experience I've had at a salon yet. Usually, I'm very nervous about getting my hair cut, but Ashley put me at complete ease. She asked questions about what my hair is like and how I wear it, then took time to show me she was going to do and why (i.e. your hair is like this, so we should treat it this way). Very friendly, and I loved the cut - I asked for a pretty basic style (Asian hair, medium length, some layering, side swept bangs), and she executed it so well. I decided to check out smart hair studio, and set up a free consultation with Tanya. she took the time to really get to know me. She looked at pictures I brought showing my past hairstyles and color, and was very understanding about my current budget limitations (I'm unemployed). She offered great suggestions that took into account my hair type, lifestyle and budget. She was kind and genuine, and I felt after talking with her that I could be confident she'd give me a nice cut. Well, the haircut she gave me is AWESOME. She cuts not only with technical precision, but also with aesthetics in mind. All the while, she made sure I was comfortable. Ashley even offered to get me an iced coffee when she went out on a coffee run... and when i was leaving, they lent me an umbrella so my new 'do wouldn't get wet in the sudden and unexpected downpour that started while I was there. Tanya transformed me (my hair hadn't been cut in 9 months, but that's a story for ANOTHER time...), and i now feel confident to go on job interviews.
