I always get the Troublemaker, the Troublemaker Pileup if I'm here for brunch, or a side of the Trouble sauce if I get one of the other entrees. No regrets. The Trouble sauce is mouth-watering: creamy, slightly sweet, and spicy. Most of the brunch items are very good choices if you're here on the weekend. Otherwise, get a sandwich. I've not been impressed with the nachos, hummus, quesadilla, or salads. Average bar food. Mimosas are generous and refreshing. And I appreciate the outdoor seating! read more

I love this place. Amy is an awesome bartender, never skips a beat. She's one reason I go here. The others are excellent food, cheap PBR on tap, and yummy specials. $1 tacos on Monday that are yummy and a fantastic cream of poblano soup, regular hot sandwich specials too, and let's not forget the frito-pie which is a bowl of chili topped with a generous amount of fritos, sour cream, and jalapenos. It's definitely a bar, but feels more like a restaurant with a bar. The decor is cool (old motorcycles and constant running vids of motorcycle racing, old and new), plus they have a great deck open spring/summer/fall with a gas fire surrounded by a big table for chilly evenings. I love that Smarty Pants does brunch now. I used to love going here for lunch when I worked in Georgetown, but these days I only seem to ever make it down there on the rare weekend. Their tofu scramble is hands down the best I've ever had. I get it with onions, mushrooms, and black beans and it's like a big plate of vegan heaven. Their hashbrowns are so greasy and crispy and perfect, and their mimosas are the best I've had in Seattle. A few months back I ordered the tofu scramble, but was brought eggs instead- when I let the waitress know, she put a rush on my new order, gave me a side of avocado, offered to give us free drinks, and then STILL comped my meal! I ordered the grilled cheese, which probably would have been delicious if it had been hot and the cheese had been melted. But I got a sandwich that looked like it hadn't even been on the grill, the bread was still completely white, and the cheese had just barely broken out in a sweat. Usually I'm not a picky eater and I hate to complain but I politely asked the waitress to have them stick it back on the grill for a few more minutes. She looked at my uncooked sandwich and grabbed it away, saying "Oh yeah, we've been slammed so they're cranking out sandwiches." Well, does this mean everyone else is getting undercooked food too? That's really a poor excuse. She disappeared with my sandwich, during which time I sampled my friends' sandwiches (meatloaf, BBQ) which were delicious. 10 minutes later she returned with my sandwich. I honestly think they let it sit on the counter for that 10 mins and didn't even put it back on the grill. It looked exactly the same, but it was colder. I took 2 bites and was done. I would have asked to have it taken off my bill but we had to wait a long time just to get the harried waitress to give us our bill, it wasn't worth the extra effort. They do have some sandwiches which are delicious. But they won't be getting any repeat business from me, because when I gave them a chance to remedy their mistake they failed. They need to hire more staff during lunchtime (only had 2 waitresses for the whole place) and pay more attention to quality during busy periods. read more

Good bar with good bar food, which, on it's own, does nothing to set it apart from all the other good bars with good bar food in Georgetown. What does set Smarty Pants apart, however, is their nice little beer garden and the best happy hour in Georgetown. If it's a nice day, or it's between 4PM and 7PM, this is my go-to place for food 'n beer. read more

My bf and I stopped here for lunch on our way through Georgetown. Neither of us had heard of this place, but the menu looked pretty good esp. to me being a vegetarian and their having decent options (Field Roast). Decor is warehouse/exposed brick/concrete floor with some pretty cool racing motorcycles above the door and an overall motorcycle motif. Pretty cool. Evel K "ring of fire" on the wall! They have a patio, but I didn't actually check it out. You can see the open kitchen from the seating area, pretty cool. Our waitress was terrific; service was quick but friendly. She was helpful in guiding me on a toss up between 2 sandwiches; I went with the field roast ruben upon her recommendation. It may have been the best veggie ruben I have had! What set it apart was that it wasn't super greasy. Others I have had toast the bread like a grilled cheese and it gets all greasy on the outside and that combined with the cheese and dressing can be a gut bomb, but this one was darn near perfect (not just like plain toast either). My bf got a "miss piggy" - some sort of house made BBQ pork with slaw on a hoagie roll. He said it was good; bread a little overwhelming in size. Overall didn't rock his socks off. He said mine was much better. We both got coleslaw as our side and unfortunately it needed a some Q.C. Piecescut pretty uneven and very thick and almost no dressing nor any seasoning. Wouldn't recommend it. I would recommend Smarty Pants overall though. Nice staff. Good food. Great service. Terrific Veggie Ruben!! read more

Only negative was the bloody mary was weak, but it was deliciously made...just not enough vodka. Service was quick, cool and chill vibe, great portion sizes, and the food was well put together and cooked. Love these laid back/diner joints. Been here twice and I like it! First time I went because I had been working at a coffee shop in Georgtown. I was really hungry but all I wanted as a really good turkey sandwich. I found this place mostly because I saw someone on the street shouting to a friend "This place is fucking good!" So with an endorsement like that, how could I not try it. Got a couple of beers and a turkey sandwich which was really good. They didn't have fries which was a little sad, but it wasn't like they were out, the sandwich just comes with chips, or coleslaw, or some other side I can't remember just at the moment and I didn't really want fries anyway. The sandwich came out and was really good. I drake my beer, ordered another, then ordered some fries because I wanted to sit and watch people for a bit. The bar is motorcycle focused, which is not to say a biker bar. It's really into motercycle racing, so I people watched a bit. Most of the crowd was nice and talkative but didn't mind ignoring the guy with the book in the back picking through his fries. Recently I came back with my boyfriend. He had been talking about wanting a Chicken Parmesan Sandwich for a week and I remembered that they had one here called the Thunderbird. He got that and I got the Chicago Italian Beef. Both were just awesome! Great taste, great bread! All of it. I'd totally go back. read more

Great sandwich and friendly staff in this classic motorcycle themed establishment. I had the troublemaker, the most popular of their sandwiches. The hoagie style bread was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside filled with a delicious melange of ingredients. One of my favorite spots. Sandwiches are pretty delicious. Usually a good beer on tap. GF is vegetarian and loves the option to have Field Roast in the sandwiches, especially the rueben. Beer selection isn't huge but there's always something good. GF hasn't had much luck with the cocktails, though. Stopped in for the happy hour today. I've eaten hear many times before and love the sandwiches. I had the 3 sandwich sampler for $7. I would recommend spending the extra $2.25 for a full size sandwich with a side. It's twice the size as the 3 sampler. Another happy hour gimmick menu. As far as Georgetown establishments go, this one rates pretty low. The food was really low grade and kind of gross. They cut too many corners and slop stuff together that ends up lacking both in presentation and taste. The drinks are pretty weak and overloaded with other non-alchoholic ingredients. Service staff was pretty friendly. read more

best potato salad ever. i didn't even know i liked potato salad. we eat here at least once per week and are always happy. there has been a time where the potato salad hasn't been the best but largely it's fab (i'm obsessed). service is great eat-in or carry-out. always a good group of people working there and eating (or just drinking) there. read more

Between 3 and 4 stars for me, but I'm erring on the side of caution since it was my first time. Tried the Miss Piggy and it was very good...a little pricey ($9.25) but it was big and tasty. Also tried the Ruben with Corned Beef. That was not good at all. It was a thin slice of corned beef burned on the grill top and smothered in kraut. Maybe one of the worst I've ever had. I've been coming to this place since they opened and have never been disappointed. It's a great sandwich shop with good beer, cocktails, service, and a fun atmosphere. I checked this place out because it's close- located near my business, it seems to be a very well visited lunch spot- I was disappointed. The food was "ok" it's a sandwich shop- I didn't have the highest of expectations. Spotty service at best. Ill be back to try again- maybe- but honestly- I really expected better from such a busy location and a place that seems to take pride in being a "georgetown staple". A Georgetown classic! Awesome sandwiches!! It has also become my Monday night go-to spot. You can't beat $1 tacos and $1 PBR! These tacos are authentic 2-tortillla taco truck style. A little warning tho- not for the weak- these babies are spicy hot! For under $10 it's all I can do to waddle out the door and climb on my bike to ride home! Glad the place is close! read more

This was my best trip to Smarty Pants yet. The server was quick and attentive, the sandwich bread was the perfect chewy texture, and the beer list was such that it was hard to pick which one to start with! The scene is always good, and the food and beer selection have never let me down. read more
