This probably isn't going to be a fair rating just because I wasn't here for drinks. I was here for some solid chicken and waffles. I had expectations to tell you the truth, but I was let down a bit. Although, I was convinced to try out the mozzarella sticks and that was a fantastic starter. Highly recommend it. They were huge and thick with the good white stuff stretching out of it when you pull on it after your first bite. Best mozzarella stick I've ever had. As for the chicken and waffles, that's another story. Now, this isn't your normal chicken and waffles here. It's a spicy chicken and waffle sandwich. Someone was trying to be clever with this one and granted, on paper it sounds like a good idea. Execution was pretty poor however. The spice on that chicken was overpowering. There was a lack of syrup when there should've been more. And the goat cheese made it worse. Honestly, if it were just a regular fried chicken that was not spicy and had a good amount of syrup with no goat cheese in the sandwich, it would've satisfied my craving hands down. It wasn't that unfortunately. Should just keep it simple with that one. I would've been happy with that. The stroganoff was solid though. Did not expect that to be so good coming out of a bar. Way better than what Olive Garden could ever dish out. So maybe that says a lot for some folks. I'd come here for the stroganoff and the mozzarella sticks. As for the place itself, it definitely has a saloon vibe to it. Place looked pretty slow when I was there, but there was a good amount of people finishing up their meals, so I probably just missed the breakfast rush. While looking for a new place to do brunch in Geogretown Seattle's oldest bar, Jules Maes popped up. The brunch menu was super small, but it had stuffed hashbrowns on it and that is something I had to have! Super easy parking on a Saturday morning, I thought I was going to be the first person, but there was already a full table...good sign I'm in the right place. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely kept the saloon vibe while it's clearly been somewhat updated and doesn't feel dumpy. This bar is much larger than I give it credit for - go back past the bathrooms and you get several arcade games and a performance stage! Could be an interesting place to catch a show. I went with stuffed hashbrowns with mushrooms. It came out super hot and while I was disappointed visually, the flavours were great and I'm eat it again. Glad we stumbled into Jules Mae Saloon. The people at the bar welcomed us and our dog, Louie. Wish I got the names of the bartenders, they were so friendly and accommodating. We make our own version of hot Toddy but loved their twist. Without giving it away let's just say all 4 harmonize perfectly specially on a fall evening. The Goat - a rustic flatbread pizza with goat cheese, caramelized onions and arugula, another perfect combination. And finally the bbq chicken wings, one of the best versions we've had, literally finger lickin awesome. Visiting the oldest bar in Seattle made us appreciate the down-to-earth, chill and laid back vibe. Will be back for sure to watch Improv shows and lunches with live music. read more

I thought this was going to be one of those "I guess this is the only thing still open this late" type of places so low expectations. My Improv classmates often frequent this spot after class. It exceeded my expectation because when I think of bar food, I think greasy, unhealthy food that I would deeply regret spending daily calories on, and don't get me wrong, it deep fried food probably aren't the healthiest, but holy moly, the spicy BLT sandwich I got was something I would definitely order during the day time also. Usually spicy is not very spicy in American establishment, but whatever sauce they use, it was and it was tasty! Tatar tots were also light and crispy. Nice comfy feel, very much an old saloon vibe. We grabbed a table by the front window, and were able to chat and drink and eventually eat without a rush on a sunny Saturday afternoon. We grabbed food from the brunch menu. I ordered a veggie omelette with cheesy grits. Good portions, well cooked. I did really like the grits, you just don't come across them very often. Hubs got the Monte Cristo. It was served with a fruit cup. Very filling, well cooked. I did love the Bloody Mary. It packed a good punch for brunch, and was served with quite honestly the spiciest pickle I've ever eaten. Yowzer! read more

Came here for lunch and first thing I noticed is the look and feel of this historic building. The bartender, who was awesome, gave me the tour of this giant place that has a stage even and hosts shows. Oldest saloon in Seattle! Even if its strictly not the original location, it still feels like an old timey western saloon. Suprisingly decent bar food eats makes this a good lunchtime option in Georgetown Stuff tried: Mozzarella sticks: large sized sticks with a super crispy crust. Huge serving with the order so good for sharing Veggie melt: lots of veg and a good garlicky pesto sauce. Side of tots makes this a super lunch time snack Three way mac and cheese: changes daily and great for mac and cheese lovers. I think i got a french onion one, green chili one and buffalo chicken? This place was once Dimond in the rough. The Dimond was the food and the rough was the decor. Now it just, rough. The food that once was here has collectively took a step down. I used to love going here and was a regular, now i'm just indifferent. Outside of cost savings it makes no sense that the have pizza here. Popped into Jules Maes the other evening for a night cap, only to get kicked out by yet another rude bartender (see previous review) because I had a birthday and my license was expired by a day. I provided proof from WSDOT showing the renewal was in tact and my license active, but it didn't matter. With so many other saloon/dive bar options close by, don't bother with this place. The other reviews about shit service are legit. Won't be back. By the way I'm 36 so.... it's not like I'm trying to fool anyone haha read more

Really enjoyed the ambience and look and history of the place. Lots to see, cool photos you can take. But what really lacked was attitude of server, and the wings on the late night menu. Cheese sticks were wonderful, super delicious, giant. Tater tots were fine, definitely frozen pre-made but good little snack Drinks were okay, not great. It was actually pretty slow for a Friday night...quite empty. We came in as a group of 9, server seemed really good at first. After she came back and checked on us, when I mentioned to her how extremely salty the wings were, and I mean SALT , I love salty food, I'm legit borderline HBP because of my salt intake, and this level of salt was coated on your tongue and lingered, and all 9 of us couldn't even eat it. Anywho. The server seemed reluctant to believe us, she said it's the batter and they can't change it. Anyway, she kinda closed off on her entire demeanor after we mentioned it. She took it off the bill, but had an attitude about it. And never said have a goodnight or anything after we paid. Just dropped off out credit slips and walked away... We all work in restaurants 20+ years of experience...it was honestly disrespectful and sad to see. That really ruined it for all of us. We had a GREAT time up until that point...anywho... we visited evening July 29th 2022 if management wants to see who it was. Not a bad stop in Georgetown. We shared the mozzarella sticks between four people and they were really filling and tasty. I had the fish tacos, they were grilled cod and it came with three tacos. It was a cold dreary day when we stopped in. Very cool Saloon style pub. We were immediately greeted as we entered. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. My husband had the cheeseburger. He said it was the best burger he's had in a long time. He said it was a 10 out of 10. I had the three cheese flatbread with pesto. It was really good! My nephew had the Turkey BLT. He loved it. Stopped in here on the way home. It was completely empty. We were greeted and was able to choose our own seats. We sat in the booth by the window. We placed an order for the mixers sticks, gluten free flatbread pizza and the spicy chicken and waffle sandwich with tots. We also had a mezcal mule and a root beer. Our food arrived about 10 mins later. My hubbys pizza didn't come out because the forgot it was gluten free. The mozzarella sticks were huge!!! They were also really good. I was not happy with the chicken and waffles. The chicken looked like it had been over cooked or the grease needed to be cleaned and the waffle was not hot. The tots on the other hand were great. Hubbys pizza was was just okay. The way it's built doesn't allow the cheese enough time to melt and set on the pizza. Overall it was okay. While I was waiting, the bartender was attentive and provided world class customer service despite me coming in looking like I was ready to go to the beach. So..... I don't know. This used to be a truly great place to eat. I guess new owners recently took over and now, to be fair, the bar still has the same, rustic , comfy vibe. They din't mess with that. The old wood draws you in and makes you want to stay all day. It's still a saloon. They have fine basic drinks. The servers are helpful and pleasant to be around. But... the food, well, the food is possibly actual garbage. I can be a real hardass about pizza. Okay. That's true, but dude, this is NOT pizza. I'm sorry. I can be a real New York snob about pizza, but I'm not even doing that right now. They said this was a flatbread pizza. Just look at it. All the ingredients on their own were somehow fine, but the preparation just boggles the mind. Gobs of shredded chicken piled under thick chunks of onion and mozzarella. They somehow managed not to melt the Mozarella while burning the flatbed crust to a crisp. I got a mouthful of cold cheese with charcoal flavored bread and room temp shredded chicken and onions slathered in barbecue sauce that seemed to have been dumped on after the fact. Now that is actual garbage. We threw it away. In case the "chef"is reading this, the thing that makes a barbecue chicken pizza tasty is the way the barbecue sauce caramelizes on the crust when cooked. You have to actually cook the ingredients with the barbecue sauce, like the meat should touch the sauce while it cooks. Also, you could use about a third as much chicken and it would be less overwhelming for the mouth. And please, cook longer on lower heat. Just fucking lose the onions all together. And serious talk, If your flatbread is already fully cooked because it's from a package, there's not going to really be a right way to do this at all. Anyway. I loved Jules Mae. Second strike, my salad and chicken order was terrible. It took 25 minutes to put do what they called a salad and chicken. So I had a thin sliced roasted and bland chicken breast over an abundance of romaine lettuce that clearly came from a bag pre-cut...maybe from Costco. Included in that salad was large tomatoes and cucumbers that took a few bites to finish. Final strike was the tiny salad dressing they included that covered maybe a 4th of the salad. I ended up eating the salad plain since I ran out of dressing. $13 dollars for all this...absolutely insane. Unfortunately this place striked out for me and I won't be returning. We were really excited to try this place out. We wish we had a better experience because the food was really good and the vibe of the place was amazing. Unfortunately, there were quite a few problems during our visit. We made a reservation for our group for 6pm and arrived right on time. When we arrived, our table was not ready even though there were only a few other people there. We waited a few minutes for them to put a few tables together only for them to move us a few minutes after we sat down. Once seated at our new table, we ordered drinks and appetizers right away. Our server was friendly. Drinks came out fairly quickly. Our appetizers (poutine tots) came out after about 20+ minutes. They were very good. Tots were crispy and gravy was delicious. We put in our dinner orders at 6:40. We watched groups that arrived after us get their food before us. By 7:20, we had to wave down a waitress from across the restaurant because no one came to check on us after 6:40 when we put in our dinner orders. We were not offered any drink refills and no updates as to why our dinner order was taking so long. The waitress I waved over seemed irritated that I was asking her about our food, but our waitress had been ignoring us since 6:40. I let this other waitress know that we had to leave in 10 minutes to make our escape room reservation and asked if she had any idea how much longer our food would be. She said "you can pay now and I'll just bring you boxes with your food so you can take it to go." This was incredibly upsetting because the whole point was for us to have dinner before going to our escape room. The food finally arrived about 5 minutes before we absolutely had to leave. Most of us didn't even get to take a single bite of our food. The waitress told us the delay was because the cook was training someone. We all went to our escape room hungry. Pretty disappointed because the food looked and smelled great but we didn't get to enjoy it fresh, we all ate it reheated much later. Our reservation was at 6pm and we had to leave for our escape room at 7:35, we should have had plenty of time to sit and enjoy our food. I genuinely think our order was forgotten or not put in right away. I do feel that the staff should have offered us a discount for the inconvenience or at the very least an apology. I visited Jules Maes Saloon for happy hour with some friends and it was a solid place for some beers and bites. We expected a large group, so I called ahead of time to see if we could reserve a table for our party. The friendly employee who answered the phone gave me an e-mail address of the owner to make a reservation, which I did, and was responded to soon after. When we arrived at Jules Maes Saloon, our table was ready for us. In addition to our drinks, we all shared the chicken wings, hummus and pita and the famous Flatliner, which were smothered tots! The tap list was solid, with plenty of local taps, including Georgetown's own Georgetown Brewery. They also have a full bar, so cocktail it up! Of all the food I enjoyed the Flatliner, which Jules Maes Saloon is famous for. Smothered tots in melted cheese, green onions, tomato, bacon and sour cream, it's an appetizer to have with booze. Yet everything else was solid. Jules Maes Saloon has that, well, saloon-feel to it. I dig the casual and historic vibe, and the staff were super friendly. Definitely a place to have a good time. But: The drinks were simply bad. We were in with a group of 10+ people with different preferences, most of us ordered a cocktail, and the overwhelming consensus was the drinks were poorly mixed and the flavors unappealing. Wouldn't you think an old timey saloon's signature drinks would be classics like old fashioneds and manhattans, not dissonant lavender margaritas and fruity Moscow mules? Our group of 7 came in on a Friday afternoon to plenty of seats. Ambiance is very casual, with dim lighting and lots of wooden furnishing. We ordered two orders of the flatliner (which are essentially nachos, except with tater tots, aka totchos), two orders of the spicy dragon wings, the bacon wrapped prawns, and finally a hummus platter. I didn't notice they had much of a "happy hour" menu, or maybe there was and we weren't aware. Our server was knowledgeable in helping our group identify which items weren't worth getting and how many to order based on serving proportions. They had a wide range of beer, and I went with a pilsner. The tots were the winners of the afternoon, it was SO crispy (your standard tots, even the frozen kind), cheesy, and the toppings came together perfectly, without being overly heavy. I would most definitely order the flatliner again. I personally wasn't a fan of the wings at all. The batter was too thick, soggy, and overall disappointing - though some others in the group found the wings enjoyable. The bacon wrapped prawns were surprisingly tasty, and the hummus platter was just generic. For the serving portions, some items on the menu were overpriced, which we wouldn't have known - had our servers not told us. I'd dined here for brunch ONCE...and because the front looks so much like every other bar in Georgetown, I'd walked past it for beers on several occasions. Not this time!
