First time in the store and they got my order wrong. I ordered a spicy jalapeno baja burger and they gave me a burger patty with 4 jalapenos and regular mayo. When I drove back they remade the burger but the customer service was lacking. I have had restaurants mess up orders before but they always apologize for me having to drive back and typically offer some kind of compensation whether it's a refund, dessert or something. There was no apology. For a restaurant with custom burgers, you would think they would have some attention to detail when preparing the food. I will not be going back. read more

Ordered online and arrived 5 minutes prior to the pickup time. FRESH! FRESH! FRESH! All fresh ingredients with off the grill super hot when served. Yo get what you pay for and that is quality all the way around. I love this place. I have gone twice and each time the place is packed and you have to stand in line for a bit of a wait. The wait doesn't disappoint! The food is so good. The build your own which I did the second time was amazing. The first time I ordered the Alaskan Denali which was also good. Nothing bad to say about this place as of yet. Terrible food at a high price. The hamburger I got was undercooked with raw red meat in the center. Everyone knows you have to cook hamburger in the middle to kill the e coli bacteria. First time at this restaurant - August 27, 2016 at 12:15pm. It was packed and no table space inside or out. It was disturbing that Gretchen a manager of the store was sitting at a four top table with a laptop with papers spread out taking a table from customers. This was very unprofessional and did not show an interest in serving her customers. The line went quickly but we had to take the food to go because of no open tables - Gretchen took up a huge space with all of her stuff!! We tried a beaf burger, chicken burger, fire fries, fried pickles and two milkshakes. Burgers were good but the chicken could not be any thinner! Fries were a poor portion and not flavored as advertised. Pickles were too salty. Shakes were good but way over priced for portion size. Tired to sign up to the smash club and reply to the survey on the receipt but it did not connect. Guess the technology is not working yet. Should have this going in day one. They need to make sure managers are not taking over tables during a peek time. VERY BAD image to the store - Gretchen should be reprimanded for her poor focus on customers. Also found hairs in the fry box at the bottom - very disappointed with the lack of concern to the details. Anchorage has many burger places. There was not a line but the house was full. I placed my order and the tale tale of a bad order is usually when they are out of an item. No avocados. I opted for a build my own. My order came up fast.. faster than McDonalds by way of the drive through. I had my order to go... my fries were almost cold 5 minutes down the road. Well first off seating is horrible. They gave us our milkshakes WAY before our food. When we got them they were almost completely melted. On top of that I have no idea what I got but it was a sad excuse for chocolate. It was grainy and chunky yet melted. Worst milkshake I've ever had. Then the food came a lot later. I don't mind at all, it's a new place. My rating is not due to the wait, I knew that coming in. The french fries were cold but they would have been awesome had they been warm. I love shoe string fries. My crispy chicken sandwich was really good. Huge piece of chicken. The bun was nice and soft and good taste. My complaint, I asked for bacon $1.30 extra and I got half a strip of bacon.....really?!?! I should have taken it back but the line was insane. I'd come back maybe once it settles down but they will have to improve hugely before I give this place anymore than 3 stars. Right now it's two. Oh and the bathroom was a mess. Finally went in there as the line has been ridiculous since they opened. So 9 people in front of me in line. Line took forever. I ordered a classic smash burger and smash fries. 40 Minutes later I finally got my burger and fries!!! Its absurd for a fast food place. The fries were very good but the burger was so so. Way smaller and not near as good as good as Long Branch. Supposedly their buns are supposed to be good but they are nowhere near as good as long branch. I would say the burger here is about 1/3 as tasty as a 5 guys burger and for what they charge and the time it takes, you are better off going to an actual sit down restaurant. read more

When someone orders a BBQ Bacon and Cheese burger, you would expect BBQ sauce and bacon on said burger. Both my husbands burger(mustard, pickles and lettuce) and mine were completely wrong. Consistently I have walked in and then out without getting any food. Only tried the food twice but will not go again. The last time I left was because I sat in line in the same spot for 5 min without moving, and the whole time no orders were being taken even though two registers were up. The times I did get food, both were to go. There is no waiting area for your food, and you end up standing in the way of other customers and the servers. Both times the burgers were just ok. Nothing to shout about. And it was made incorrectly one of the times. I work near by, but during lunch I forgo the short walk and opt for the longer drive to Carl's Jr. for my Burger. Took my roommates out to eat here tonight cause it's their first time, telling them how great it is and good customer service. So we all ordered , I get my food first then my roomies. And come to find out neither of them get any sauce on their burgers so one of them goes up to the front to ask for some sauce and an employee with no name tag snapped on her with attitude saying "do you want a side of mayo then" ...... like first of all say it politely and when you work in customer service you do all you can for the customer. We've all worked in customer service and know how it is. But do not ever snap on a customer , but sure enough another employee named Stephanie helped us out and made the first time better. And had the best customer service I've ever seen. I wish I could tip her honestly cause she was so great. But now my roommates don't even really wanna come here again unless it's just Togo. I was very excited to see Smashburger come to Anchorage! I tried it while I was visiting down in Texas and fell head over heels, and the one they recently opened in Anchorage did not fail to please! I had the mushroom swiss burger (quite swanky for a burger joint), salted caramel shake (they use haagen daaz from what I've read), and the awesome rosemary fries (VERY flavorful as you can really taste the rosemary). Um, yes please?! We also ordered the fried pickles, which sent us back to Texas with joy! I just wish Anchorage would build TWO of all the eateries they open here as the lines are quite long (seems the same issue is happening across town at the Krispy Kreme). You really need to try this place at least once. I'm only glad it's far from where I live or I'd be in some real trouble (weight gain, going broke...etc..). lolz read more

After reading the ADN review, I was excited to finally be able to get a hamburger with the crisp brown outside talked about in the review. I went the same day, waited in a long, but smoothly moving line. I ordered the classic without cheese, well done. Our order came quickly, BUT when I looked at the meat, it was gray and looked like it had been boiled! Absolutely NO brown bits. The regular fries, probably due to their skinniness, tended to be a bit tough. Until I hear otherwise, I will continue trying other places and Burger Fi for fries. read more

Good flavor for the burgers but the Restaurant is dirty, no one buses the tables or the floors, fries lying around on the floor and paper pieces. The staff just stand around and talk to each other, they do not bother to come try to get some tables clean for the customers or come back to check if there is anything you need, I get it that we have already paid for the meal and sat down but maybe i would like to buy a refill for my coke or get another milk shake. Worst thing are the french fries, they are the thin kind almost shoe string but they are without a word dripping in grease, there was literally a tenth of an inch of oil on the paper under my fries, so i could not eat the last layer because they were floating in oil. Just horrible, there are other places in Anchorage with better burgers. This is a new Restaurant it could be top notch, if the owners do not put some time into improving it I do not see it staying around. read more

Third time I've been here and I would have to say this is the worst time you pay $6.59 for a strawberry shake in most places it fills the shake all the way up to the top of the lid this shake didn't even go to about 3/4 of the cup!! I got up to go get my drink refilled and one of their guys came by and took my burger half eaten and threw it away . They should not be in that big of a hurry to clear a table and throw away a half eaten burger and fries when you got your coat hanging on the chair and your keys and phone set on the table they should know someone is still there working on it didn't even get offered a free burger for my next trip back so I will probably never ever spend another dime in that place!!!So with all those things adding up and to top it all off the service is really slow should not take that long for you to get a burger but when you got a bunch of people there and only one guy in the back cooking I guess I could see that don't think I'll go back a forth time will stick with the local Alaskan places and they are absolutely 10 times better than this place read more

!!!Updated review!!!. I stopped by late today, I had steadfast plans to avoid this place for a month or so but I was force to go to Target to get my little girl a new costume due to a washer failure.The restaurant was again a bit messy. Burger was O.K. not much better than fast food, they should have a drive thru. Stopped in for lunch around 2 pm today after placing my order online around 12:30. When I arrived I was told it would be another 45 minutes. Don't take on-line orders if you can't stand behind the time. Giving them an hour and a half to make what amounts to a fancy fast food burger should be enough. That experience alone would not have warranted the one star, it was the rude staff. When I asked for a refund the front counter girl was rude and then I had to wait for a manager to refund my money and that took another 10 minutes. Never did anyone apologize. The room was also very messy and most tables dirty and several other people standing in line had waited close to an hour for food even though they had ordered hours ago online. Had high hopes, but unfortunately this place disappointed. Waited a long time to place order, waited a long time to get order, since I place a to go order I took my food and left after glancing quickly that it looked right. While waiting for food I noticed so many things that just bugged me, for example workers rubbing their faces/nose with hands then handling cups and plates and food items, can you say gross!! So many employees standing around with nothing to do, but a line out the door, orders backed up 30 minutes. Made no sense to me at all. After all the waiting, when I finally opened my crispy chicken sandwich it was not even warm! But worse than that it was RAW!! I am so thankful I paid attention, that could of been a serious health concern and made me really sick. Sweet potatoe fries also cold. Unless they get someone in there who knows how to operate a resturant I don't see any customer waiting so long to place an order and then waiting even longer to get food if it's not worth waiting for.
