Although the portions were miniature in ratio to their price, the burger tasted great nonetheless. I had to wear a jacket the whole time I was there since it was quite nippy in the area. I just wish I would spend a bit less due to it's size because that burger was bomb. read more

My husband had been really wanting to try this place so we found ourselves here when we were having a burger craving. It wasn't very busy when we walked in, but by the time we left it was packed. My husband had the jalapeno burger and I had the truffle, an order of smashfries, haystack onions, and two drinks. It ended up being pretty pricey. The smashfries were pretty good but the onion stack was horrible and you could only taste grease. I also tend to like onion rings instead of minuscule onion shreds in a limp heap. The jalapeno burger had one slice of jalapeno but otherwise okay. For the truffle burger, the truffle is in the mayo sauce they load on it. I think there was more mayo than burger. There were also about five tiny pieces of mushroom on it. Overall, sucky. My husband's final analysis is that his diet coke was the highlight of his lunch. I was very less than impressed, and we will be marking this place as a permanent no on our list. This place needs to get it together. Almost every time we go there, our order is messed up. They have good tasting burgers, and I want to like the place, but after our last experience (my husband found a HAIR in his burger - which, by the way, was supposed to be a chicken burger but we didn't find out until we got home that they gave him beef instead), I doubt we'll be back any time soon. Also, they got rid of their baja cob salad, which was basically my reason for going there. Why on earth would they get rid of their best salad??? I placed a written order with clear instructions to leave off toppings that I'm allergic to. Despite this, they delivered my sandwich with two different items that I'm allergic to. When I called to ask them for a refund or another sandwich, I spoke to the hostess and the manager and both refused to do anything. With all the hype I wanted to try it what I can say is....over oriced, mediocre food. The food is ok. Nothing special at all. Honestly. McDonalds is significant better than this place. Be prepared to wait up to 45 minutes for food. Will I come back to Smash Burger? Probably not, with all the great burger places in Anchorage theres no need to settle for this burger. Actually I make better burgers at home than this burger joint. Place is packed, but line moves swiftly. I like that the menus are in a bin at the beginning of the line so people know what they want by the time they get to the cashiers, which no doubt helps the line move faster. The selection is huge and I like that they offer shakes and a variety of sides. I got the Alaskan kenai and French fries with an ores shake. I liked the shake and the fact that they give you the extras that didn't fit in the glass. Service is gonna depend on the line and how many people are there. They whip up the shakes fast though. They also use Reddit whip to top off their shakes. I had my order there, which meant that everything was served to us by the staff and our table is marked with a number. But I noticed that the staff was working as fast as they could to get the to go orders together in a quality manner. The burgers are put in a clear plastic container and the meals are carefully packed into the paper to go bag. The meal I ordered that day took about 20 minutes to get to me which is understandable with how many people there were waiting to be served, so I can't fault them for that. They serve the food to you with a smile and work interchangeably to keep the place clean and be ready to support each other with orders and machine refills and ingredient restock, which all of the ingredients are fresh, including the jalapeños. The meals are served in stainless steel grated trays and the staff clean up your tables for you in a timely manner at the end of you eating. My Alaskan kenai burger was very good. The meat was still juicy and the bread was soft but not weak enough to collapse. The fried onions were still slightly greasy, with fresh cut jalapeños on the top of the bun stuck on by mayo. The fried were stringy but good and lightly salted. I WILL BE SURE TO EAT HERE AGAIN. Watch your order! My office decided to order lunch from here today. I ordered the Avocado Club Burger with added cheese and fried egg. When my coworker returned to the office, neither cheese nor egg were added to my burger, though I was charged for the add-ons. My coworker's order was wrong as well. I know this place just opened but that's not the way to run a business and when I called to notify management, they seemed to take it in stride and never offered a credit for my next visit. I avoided this place for quite a while after reading the first batch of reviews complaining of long wait times and such. After peeking my head in on a whim and seeing an open path to the register, my son and I gave it a try. We were both pleasantly surprised! First off, the prices were very reasonable. Cheaper than Red Robin, Burgerfi, Arctic Roadrunner, etc. The burgers remind me of a higher quality BK product..... like a less greasy/sloppy but equally flavorful Whopper. Still in the fast food realm, but more substantial and with more options. I have heard people complaining about the fries, but I am a big fan. The buffalo fries were definitely stellar. The service is horrible. The burger is pretty good though. Orders were ready sitting at the window and they have a ton of payroll that appears to be aimlessly walking around joking with one another. Never again. I kid you not My fries were dripping oil and the container had a thick layer of oil which eventually leaked through the bag and onto my car seat. This place gets mixed reviews. It was the middle of the afternoon and was incredibly busy, I liked that the menus were on the wall you grabbed while waiting in line so everyone had their order ready by the time they got to the register and left at the counter while ordering. The burger was actually very good, it was a fresh patty not very thick and had very nice seasonings, cooked on a flat top so it stayed very juicy. The vegetables on top, lettuce and tomato was very fresh and crispy with a light, not dense heavy bun. Seating, on the other hand was a nightmare we originally ordered our food to go but was able to grab two seats at the window bar as we were ready to walk out. On days, i.e. when it's not raining outside... LOL there is a fenced in patio area with tables and chairs as well. This place was good for a fresh burger if you're in the mood for one. read more

Best hamburger in my life. The Kenai burger. Its made with the Kenai cheese dip. The bun, burger, bacon and crispy onions added to it's yummyness! I would really recommend the Kenai. It was $7.49, pretty spendy but once in a while it's worth it. We only had that but observed the sweet potato fries others ordered looking delish. The service was friendly but it was very, very busy and only one girl taking orders. I think they were cranking the food out as fast as they could and I noticed a sign stating that the dining area would soon be expanding. read more

I had heard that their service was slow so, coming for the first time when they were extremely busy was nerve racking, BUT, I had extremely good service and the wait time was short. I got food to go because I didn't want to dine in because I live so close, but it was expeditious and the food was delicious. So glad to have a good burger joint on this side of town! The Classic Smash that I ordered was delicious and went down faster than I was expecting! My husband was able to customize his and said his was equally as delightful! Beyond the food the service was fantastic! Many times with new franchise restaurants openings they miss the mark in the service area but not this place! First off, the burgers are really good. Worth a 30 minute wait for a fast food burger? Maybe not right now. I'm sure they will get better with time once they are open for longer. Ate: avocado club burger. Short line wait. Fries not served with burger. Ordered the smash fries, rosemary is a different touch to fries, but good overall. Small string fries, crsipy. Very good. Burger is smaller than anticipated, but it is the correct size per serving. Heavy on the mayo...... Way too many employees working. But they're all doing something. Pretty busy lunch hour. First time in the store and they got my order wrong. I ordered a spicy jalapeno baja burger and they gave me a burger patty with 4 jalapenos and regular mayo. When I drove back they remade the burger but the customer service was lacking. I have had restaurants mess up orders before but they always apologize for me having to drive back and typically offer some kind of compensation whether it's a refund, dessert or something. There was no apology. For a restaurant with custom burgers, you would think they would have some attention to detail when preparing the food. I will not be going back. read more
