But beginning the closing procedures before 9 when the store is open until 10? This happens on a regular basis and it just serves to run off customers. Perhaps that's the plan? 3 stars for the Smashfries and black bean burger. The fries were seasoned just right, and not too greasy. The black bean burger was tasty and not bland. However the fried pickles were so salty that I could only eat a couple, before I had to throw the rest away. I ordered online and my order was ready and correct in a timely fashion. The burgers are decent, but I think for the price, I'll stick with Becks Prime. Also, Eddie is extremely rude every time I've gone to eat there. I think he might be the manager to which sets a terrible example for the rest of the staff. I might as well place the order on an automated machine. Went there on Sunday (13th April), the burger, fries and service was outstanding. Went there on Monday (14th April) at 4.20 pm.....ordered the same....burger was ok and the fries were cold.....service was bad....lazy staff. Told Keenen about the fries, he took it back to the kitchen and brought back oily tasteless fries. Most likely he refried. Left after finishing my burger.....the fries were left as is! Fantastic burger! Definitely in my top 3, and please don't compare this to Five Guys - it's head and shoulders above that place in every respect. The decor is better, their crispy fries tossed in olive oil and herbs are better, and their juicy burgers are WAY better! Something about smashburger reminds me of Mario. I don't know if its the name, the shapes, or the colors of the place, but I feel as if this would be the burger place Mario would open up (of course he is italian so it would probably be serving italian food). I love the atmosphere. The tall benches make things a bit more private, but could cause problems for the claustrophibic. The staff is delightful but commercial (kinda like when you go to mcdonalds). Their dining accesories are catchy. I love the cages lined with wax paper that they bring out the food in. The burger is great, particularly the meat. Its savory. The toppings taste fresh. The bread is plain white and simple (nothing wrong with that). Their fries... Wtfudge??? What is wrong with these fries? Do not get their smash frieds. Sadly, they lose a star cause of this. Their smash fries are soaked in some sort of herbal olive oil. I dont know if they were fried in it or if thats what they topped them with when they came out but they are super greasy. We could barely eat them and by the time we got to the bottom of the plate, a pool of oil was just sitting their staring it us... ugh as if fries are not healthy enough as it is. Been to this location before with no complaints, but today I was shocked at the upkeep and service. It was a Wednesday right before 8pm I was dining in. When I arrived I had to wait at least 5 mins to place my order. The young lady told me she would be with me in a minute.I was the only person ordering. While waiting another employee came to the register to print something out and then disappeared. Still waiting. I ordered and headed to the restroom to wash my hands and it was in bad shape. The soda machine area was messy (I'm being nice by using "messy" so you can only imagine.) The ice machine could use some serious cleaning. You could tell the floors had not been swept, and tables had not been cleared. My table had no napkins, after asking for some politely, they were brought to me to which I thanked the young lady and there was no response. By 8:30 the clearing of tables began and stools were propped on tables to prepare for closing. Customers were still coming in to dine. It was certainly difficult to enjoy my food in such a dirty environment. Hopefully management reads this and corrects whatever is causing this in the evenings. read more

This is my second time coming to this place honestly worst experience ever ! The people that work here are every rude especially the night crew they have, I order a CHICKEN burger and they gave me a BEEF burger my boyfriend took it back and gave them a nasty attitude they told us to keep the burger so we did but I didn't eat . The guy there told us they were going to remake the burger I wanted and it was going to take 10 min well it took longer and we went with a big crew so at this point everyone was doing eating and I was the only one left without anything they came with my burger and it still wasn't right they were still missing my fries . At this point I was mad enough to just get my money back so my boyfriend went to get the refund and the guy was asking for the receipt when he didn't give me a receipt at all . The guy went to the back and the cooks came back trying to gang up on my boyfriend , like really a fight for a freaking burger . To make this worse watch your people cause I could sue you guys if something would had happen especially to me since I'm 9 months pregnant such a shame that y'all would argue over a refund !!! I had the classic burger and smash fries. The burger was excellent, reminds me of my favorite burger joint in NYC Shake Shack. However, I was not thrilled about the smash fries. I only ordered them because others raved about it in their reviews. While they were rather tasty they were way too oily for taste and I prefer thicker cut fries. Overall, for a fast food burger I thought the quality was top notch. I'm definitely a fan, but will opt for sweet potato fries the next time around. read more

I love Smashburger, but this location was pitiful! To start with we had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge we were standing at the register. Then we were missing an order of fries, which is no biggie except when they came out they were cold and swimming in grease. I could tilt the basket and gather about a tablespoon of grease in the corner. I mentioned it to the shift leader Erica, and without any level of concern she simply replied, "I don't know." We will not be returning to this location. Looks like the City Center will be getting all our business. read more

I placed an online order for pickup. The time to be picked up was 8 p.m. I was fifteen minutes late which was totally my fault. When I arrived, of course, my meal was bagged but they forgot my milkshake. As they went to the make it I checked and noticed they didn't have my fries and a burger was missing bacon. The cashier proceeded to say he doesnt work in the kitchen and that the order was sitting for 15 minutes which has nothing to do with not preparing it correctly. Btw, the milkshake was only 3/4 full and they only gave me a half a piece of bacon. I will definitely have Smashburger again but will never return to this location. read more

YUMMY! Awesome burger. The meat hangs over the tasty full-size bun. I ordered the 1/2 pound classic, wife ordered the 1/3 lb classic. The meat was not stacked patties. it was one big one, cooked exactly right. The fries are not included, but for another $2 get the smashfries. They are great! I am so hooked on this place, after discovering it a couple of weeks ago. First, it's open till 10 PM, which is why we went in, in the first place. We'd have chosen something else, but that other place was closed. I was shocked to find out that SmashBurger had the most fantastic VEGGIE burger, which is a black bean burger (I'm vegetarian). From what the manager who took my order told me, that burger is new to the menu; hence, perfect timing once again! I added veggie frites to my order and then also tasted the sweet potato fries (Yes, sweet potato) from another's order. Oh, my goodness... I have already been a repeat customer a few times since. They also give you the chance to get a free side (fries, even the sweet pot fries) with your next order, if you fill out the online survey. I give them a 5 star because it really doesn't get better than this. Even the black bean burger is different from the one at the other places I get a black bean burger (might be good to know, in case you decide to go vegetarian, or just to try it out if not a veg.). read more

I recently started working in the Energy Corridor and am looking for regular lunch options. (I live in the Galleria area and so that is my point of reference.) Today was my first Smashburger experience. It was vastly different from what I expected based on the reviews here. I ordered a Classic Chicken sandwich and a drink. (No fries.) The sandwich was delivered, open-faced, to my table about 10 minutes after I placed my order. The top side of the bun was dressed with mayo, half a leaf of lettuce, and two tomato slices. The bottom side of the bun was undressed and was covered by a very thin, minimally seasoned "grilled" chicken breast. (I think "pan seared" would be more accurate than "grilled".) The chicken alone - when not combined with the bun and mayo - tasted overly processed and a bit unnatural. All in all, my meal was neither tasty nor filling. For a fast-food guilty pleasure, gimme a Whataburger Grilled Chicken Sandwich (with grilled jalapenos) any day over Smashburger!!! read more

Worst service I have ever experienced! The employees are absolutely incnsiderate. I am NEVER going to SMASHBURGER again! Not saying the food was bad but your employees literally suck. They do not care about the customers. They obviously don't care about the food. But I stood waiting for my food for over 30 minutes while I watched close to 5 other customers who came in after me leave in a matter of 5 minutes. When I went to complain they didn't even apologize, the guy just looked at me and said ok. It was absolutely not OK. Your restaurant was being inconsiderate and truth is it was intolerable for any food service to make you wait that long especially if it is not a 5 star restaurant. Frankly, I am highly disappointed in the service this Smashburger has, someone should fire some people because there needs to be a change. I do not think it is ok to watch me wait for such a long amount of time and not ask what I am waiting for. Not only that, I was paying to have a good meal but instead all I got was an attitude with a cold burger and no apology for my wait. Horrible service. Wouldn't want them to serve me again.
