I've been to two other Smashburgers before but this location in Oro Valley was not a good experience. Ordering went fine but as I sat to wait for my food I noticed so many unsanitarry activites by the staff. A girl was making a shake and took a dirty cup out of a small fridge to measure. After pouring the finished shake into a to go cup, she wiped the edge of the tin cup with her hand and then proceeded to lick her fingers. Then reached for the to go cup, put a lid on it and handed it to the customer. Yuch. She then ran into the back room with the tin cup and just her manner made me think she took the leftovers to drink. I guess that's okay with management because the supervisor would drink his can of energy drink from the food prep table between sending out orders. And, a staff's soda drink is also on another food prep table. The holder with the straws, utencils, lemons, etc. looked sticky and dirty. Clearly not wiped down on a daily basis. I won't recommend this location to friends given what i saw today. Yuch. read more

The place is filthy. I am sitting out side right now and literally every table is not cleaned. Next their computers are down and told everyone in line they can't take orders and we are told that they can't make food until it is paid for and we have to wait The manager says nope. Over the last 2 years or so I have visited this location frequently. The staff has always been friendly and on the occasion that there has been an issue with my order, they have taken care of it to my satisfaction. I like the fact that there are a number of toppings you can get on your burger that are no-charge. However, they changed their menu several months ago and I feel like the quality has slowly decreased. I once got the Brussels sprouts and they were so inedible my dog wouldn't even eat them (and, believe it or not, Brussels sprouts are one of his favorites). Sometime in April 2020 (during the lockdown) I called them and they were happy to take my order and my payment over the phone, and then bring it out to me at the curb. I was very satisfied. I don't know what happened, but now (twice, two different days) they say they can't take payment over the phone anymore. I was told that they still had curb pickup but you had to come in to pay; apparently they don't understand that if you have to come in, this nullifies the purpose of curbside pickup. The only way I see to order is on Google, and there is no way to order what I want, which is a burger with no cheese. You can only order from selected items. Extremely frustrating. read more

Looks like the beginning of the end. Starting to remove things from the menu. One of the major reasons I go there is for the classic malt in a metal mixer. Malts are no more. Atkins style burger came with two pieces of lettuce on the side. My wife's fries were on my plate. Sad! read more

It was a fine burger. $9 for a burger with no fries, no drink, and no table service seems a bit high. I kind of prefer a Five Guys burger -- better burger for a few dollars cheaper. Are there Five Guys in AZ? Not sure. read more

The hamburgers & food are not as good as it was even 6 months ago. Won't be back because this place is dirty. I'm talking about caked on dirt around the prep area where you order. Below the counters there are above ground legs with caked on black greasy dirt. Little refrigerator has clogged up vents @ the bottom. There is a broom leaning against the wall on right of door entering kitchen. It had greasy dust bunnies across the bristles. I got a birds eye view when a employee sweep the prep area. Employees are nice and courteous. Behind the kitchen doors it hopefully is better but doubt it if the area in the public view is this dirty. Pressure wash this place with steaming hot water. read more

Not that great. Went at lunchtime on Monday and was not impressed. First turn down the music for goodness sake. Hamburger was not juicy as advertised just a dry pattie on a bun. Fries were ok but not very many. Sorry to say but will not be going back. read more

Advertised as juicy, truthfully their burgers are simply greasy. In fact my daughter used the term greasefest. The fries were bland and thin. The bun was good. Saw an employee drop her wet cleaning rag on the floor, and watched as she simply put it back in her pail of water to rinse it. Off the floor mind you. Then, wiped off her hands and served our food. Clearly unsanitary and kind of almost made me refuse to eat but she didn't actually touch our food so I ate it. For the money, Blaze, just up the road on Oracle is waaaaay better if you want fresh delicious burgers, great fries, amazing desserts at reasonable prices. You won't find that here. read more

I see mostly good reviews for this place, but for me, it was just awful. We went in about 11 am one morning. Every table in the place was dirty, as was the fountain drink area. Our food was awful. My wife's plate was disgustingly dirty. The burgers had the life cooked out of them, although my bun was OK. The tots I ordered, which were supposed to be "tossed in olive oil and rosemary", we not even close and had none of those. The Ore-Ida tater tots out of my freezer at home are superior. The door and windows in this place were filthy, as was the bathroom. Just a disgusting experience, and I will NEVER step inside another Smashburger. I'll take Five Guys, Truland or even In-N-Out Burger any day of the week over this mess. I honestly don't know why anyone would ever go back, or how this location is even still in business. Although this location opened just a couple of weeks ago, they are doing a really nice job. We went for lunch this past Saturday-4/23- We had heard some real negatives that proved wrong. The young man taking our order could not have been more pleasant and professional as did the young lady that delivered our order. Food was hot and very tasty. The only negative is if I were them, I would change out the "wire tray" the food is served in as it is difficult to use a fork. Flat bottom is needed. We will be back. We stopped by about 6:15 p.m. on 1/8/22 and placed an order to go. It wasn't super busy but 30 minutes later we still hadn't gotten our order. I asked the young lady who took her order how much longer it was going to be and she want to the side to look and there was our order sitting, forgotten. By then it was lukewarm and we had to drive to the Campbell/ Fort Lowell area so we asked for it to be remade so it wouldn't be ice cold when we got home. They remade it and we finally got out of there after 7 p.m. We got home and unpacked everything. I had ordered smash fries and my wife had ordered regular fries. My fries and her fries looked and tasted exactly the same. So, after all that, they got the order wrong. I called the store and asked to talk to the manager. He remembered the order, and tried to tell me that my order was smash fries. When I told him that both our fries looked and tasted the same, he said well, maybe there wasn't enough Rosemary on them or something. But, they were exactly the same. He offered to put in their system for me to get a free smash fry next time I came, but I have no interest in going back. I would have expected after all that hassle that he would have refunded the amount of the order, but apparently making things right is not on their agenda. We will never go back, and we encourage you to not go in the first place. read more

Would give zero stars if I could! Our office of 11 people ordered lunch from them today! When the order was placed we spoke to Steven the manager and we were told they could not label any of the food! At least you could have labeled the food due to food allergies but they did not! The food came and when the one with food allergies was wrong it in fact had a gluten bun we called back and spoke to Steven the manger and he did not care! He stated he put the order together himself and that we should have looked through the order when we got it! Which we did and it was wrong! He offered no way to rectify the error in their part! And when asked for the cooperate number he replied with that is on the website! Very rude as a manager all he had to do was offer the remake the correct burger but that was not done and made us feel like the error was entirely our fault! My wife and I ate dinner at his Smash Burger location last night. It was the first time that we have tried a Smash Burger and we were not disappointed! I had the Smash Burger Beef Truffle Mushroom Swiss with French Fries (shoestring style) and my wife had the same burger but with the grilled chicken and sweet potato fries. Everything was excellent and delicious. They use an egg bun which complements this burger perfectly. Smash Burger has a niche. It is not McDonalds/Burger King and it is not Zinburger. It lies in the middle but is closer to a Zinburger in quality than to a McDonalds/Burger King. Highly recommended; we will definitely return!! read more

The burger was good and the rosemary fries were really good. Now if I want a gourmet burger I go to Zinburger (or Wildflower is closer) and if I want a fast burger I go to In-N-Out. This place is in between, which if fine but I won't go out of my way to eat here. I did like it better than Five Guys, which is over-priced for the quality. read more

Evening times are normally a lot calmer when we order take out and I see when they're entering our order that they are entering things correctly, but when we get our food we're either missing a side, one or both burgers are wrong and we don't quite understand how when the receipts have everything on there correctly. We use to enjoy eating out here, but the quality in service has been rocky. read more

Everyone was very friendly and helpful for our first time to Smashburger. The family order a BBQ Bacon Cheddar burger, chicken strips, grilled cheese, a build your own with fried egg. We added fried pickles and smash fries (olive oil, rosemary, and garlic) which where delicious. We will be back for sure and will order the large smash fires instead of the regular. read more

We wanted to try something new and are so glad we did! Maybe there were some kinks when they first opened but we had a fantastic experience! Food was outstanding-- the veggie frites are amazing! My wife got the crispy chicken sandwich and I got the burger. We also got an order of fries an onion rings. Cost was $18. I have celiac disease and a severe dairy intolerance. I went in today to get a burger risking that stomach ache I usually get when I eat out from cross contamination. When I asked the girl at the register to put an allergy alert on my burger she very clearly explained to the guy in the kitchen to change gloves and avoid the butter they usually cook the burgers in. The manager overheard this and personally went back to oversee how my burger was cooked and brought it out to me. I was so grateful for his care and concern. I ate the burger and didn't get a stomach ache so I know it was made properly. Very happy! I went during a quite time in the day. I highly recommend not going during the dinner/lunch rush if you are dealing with a food allergy. Great gluten free dairy free experience! read more

If I could give 3-1/2 stars, I would do so for this restaurant. We've eaten at SmashBurger many times. Each experience is most likely compared to our first one at the SmashBurger in La Jolla, which is incredible! (Love their California burger there. Each state has its own burger for those new to the place, and they are only served in their respective states.) But I'm open to try something new, so I tried the Arizona burger at this location. The first time, it was served on a regular hamburger bun but they have since moved on to a "chipotle" bun. Their burgers are always fresh, made after ordering, and delicious. My only criticism (with most places like this) is that _all_of the flavoring is derived from the add ons. (Maybe this isn't fair as my hubby makes the best burgers ever with his own blend of seasoning added directly into the burger meat--wonderful stuff!) Anyhow, the addition of the chipotle bun really doesn't do the AZ burger justice. It is good and (spicy) hot without that addition, as it comes with jalapenos, chipotle mayo, onions, habanero cheese and guacamole (very necessary to tame some of the heat). And, just not quite enough cheese on there. The fries are good when dining in the restaurant and the presentation on the tray was wonderful, as it was artfully done with the top lid to the side with lettuce, chipotle mayo, onions, then guacamole in the center with 4 slices of jalapeno tucked into the guacamole, which I enjoy as that way I can put as much or as little of the add-ons onto my burger as I want. Service is _always_ very good at this location. The same burger described here did not translate as well for take out, as it's usually pretty messy and ends up oozing everywhere before I get it out the door. read more
