The 28 beers and ciders on tap provided a varied selection to choose from. We will need to return to try some of the others. Surprised when we walked in and saw there were only 2 diners sitting inside at the bar, and everyone else was on the patio. We typically eat inside because the temperature falls dramatically after sunset. However, Noble Hops has more than enough heaters on their patio to ensure you won't be chilled. We were treated to a panoramic view of the Catalina Mountains at sunset which never disappoint. We shall return! read more

We went this past Thursday on a beautiful evening, hoping to enjoy the patio and watch the much-talked-about great horned owl nest. Happy Hour runs from 4 to 6 p.m., and we arrived around 5:15. We were seated outside right away and asked for the Happy Hour menu, but it never came. After about 15 minutes, we finally got water, only to be told by the server that it wasn't her section. Ten minutes later, the same server returned to take our order since others were too busy. My friend suggested this place as she's been before and said it as good. She works in the food industry so I trust her judgement. I always look at reviews prior to trying restaurants and the mixed bag of reviews had me on edge. We went on a Saturday evening around 6pm and it wasn't very busy, we were seated right away and the service was QUICK we had water right away, we were busy talking and didn't even look at the menu when our waitress came by. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and my friend ordered the fish and chips, both were solid. They do have some steep pricing but the fish and chips was definitely worth the price point it had the largest side of coleslaw I've ever seen and it has a nice dill flavor to it and my friend said the fish was cooked well. My Buffalo chicken burger was done well and flavorful, it was on the verge of being over cooked but it wasn't and wasn't dry but wasn't juicy. The patio views were lovely, but that's about where the good ended. We ordered frozen lavender margaritas and got them on the rocks instead -- they tastes overly syrupy and not great. Our waitress was very nice (it was her first day), but she didn't know the drink of the day and accidentally brought the wrong ones. The patio is such a nice area to sit and watch the sunset while enjoying a beautiful view of the mountains. The food itself is decent, though a little on the higher side that I can't exactly justify for some of the items on the menu. However, our server was great and I ended up getting the P.L.T. which was a decent sandwich. The star of the show, though, were the truffle fries which I truly think were the best part of the meal. I'd be interested in splitting a few appetizers and fries next time I go instead of a sandwich or burger. I also tried the Crème Brûlée Cheesecake, which was decent but again had a higher price point than I thought it would. First time was drinks only and my vodka tonic wasn't tonic at all, floors were dirty, wait staff was just hanging around. It took at least 15 minutes for us to get our draft beers and they left off items that we added to our order, unfortunately they I don't think are as good as they used to be. I'm so sad. It'd be a stretch to say The Wife & I moved to Tucson for Noble Hops, but our visit in December, 2020, certainly made the relocation easier. As I said then, we looked forward to this becoming "one of our future favorite haunts;" alas, that's not to be. Subsequent visits have been spotty, at best; after tonight, we won't be back. When The Wife suggests Noble Hops, I'm not "excited," but it's something to look forward to. We arrive around 6:00P; there're folks spread across the bar & patio, but it's not crowded. As we stand for several minutes at the door, I notice the cook glaring from the kitchen window, and I wonder if I'd kicked his dog. The bartender glances several times, but I figure he's near-sighted because he doesn't smile, nod or otherwise acknowledge us. I say to The Wife, "If someone doesn't talk to us soon, I'm out" and indicate The Cook & The Barkeep. A young man stumbles by with a tray loaded down by a half-dozen glasses of tepid-looking water. "Outside or in?" he demands. The Wife sings, "Outside, please." The Kid grumbles, "Grab a seat, and someone'll follow with menus." It's dusk and not yet February. We grab a table near the gravel fire pit and a space heater, both of which are off. The Barkeep shows up with paperwork -- Noble Hops' menu is now a spiral-bound book with tabs for food, drink, kids, etc -- and says he'll bring water. The Wife'll be chilled as soon as the sun's set, so I ask about the space heater. He replies with something about the fire pit. We're waiting for drinks, and I notice The Kid, The Barkeep and a well-endowed waitress seem to be the only people working the floor. The Waitress looks to be on the fifty side of forty, and her endowments struggle to stay inside her spaghetti-strapped v-neck. Other than the two TVs over the bar, there's no other obvious entertainment. Tables, chairs, floor, all have that almost-grimy Tucson winter look, and I'm careful what I touch. The Wife thinks the "Squid Pro Quo" salad sounds funny & interesting. "Can I have the dressing on the side?" Some back-&-forth, and The Barkeep says, "I don't know why the menu still says citrus mint vinaigrette; we don't have that any more." The Wife settles on a balsamic reduction, and I make things easy by ordering fish & chips with fries & coleslaw. The Wife's drinking Free Wave Hazy Non-Alcoholic IPA (which strikes me funnier than "Squid Pro Quo"); I order a pint of Paperback Brewing's Satan Wears Pajamas Bourbon Barrel-Aged Amber. Service is fairly prompt, but the ale is (like most things Southern Californian) unimpressive. The sun's full down; neither fire is lit. I toy with taking matters into my own hands but instead go to the car for The Wife's coat. I drop it off for her, head for a pit stop and make sure to not touch anything in the restroom. Ick. I avert my eyes on my way back as The Waitress bends over to serve drinks to another couple. Double Ick. My glass is half-empty when the food arrives, which would be a great time for The Barkeep to offer another; he sets the plates down and leaves. The Wife's stabbing past the squid (breaded & over-cooked calamari) asking, "Do you see any avocado?" I squint. "Nope." Seems to have escaped with the citrus mint vinaigrette. The "Arugula and Arcadian mixed greens" look like they were poured out of last week's Costco bag, and The Wife practically spits out the over-ripe (i.e., "rotten") tomato. Three or four bites, and she pushes the plate away. The batter-fried cod is more batter than cod, greasy & lukewarm; the fries are as cold as the very saucy coleslaw. Thumbs up for the tablespoon of bottled tarter sauce; no ketchup for the fries. I can't help thinking how far Noble Hops has fallen from the ahi steak BLT, brewer's board & fish tacos of our first visit, and, while The Barkeep seems nice, I'm not asking him to recommend anything. The Barkeep wants to know how everything is. Instead of lying, we ask about the still-unlit fire pit. He says, "Oh, yeah," and finally agrees to bring another ale; it arrives with a large ragged chip in the rim of the glass. Some other guy gets the heat going, but that doesn't help the meal much. The Wife's completely given up on the "salad," most of my fries are still on the plate. The Barkeep brings the tab, and I nearly choke: $89!!! Best thing we can say is, "The Waitress didn't spill anything." Not for lack of trying and at least not while we were there. Very sad. We won't be back. read more

Make sure you don't go when they are slammed it will take a while for them to serve you. Aside from that I really haven't had a bad experience. I've only been to Noble Hops a few times, since it's quite the hike from my house, but every experience has been great. Last night we stopped in to check out Sonoran Restaurant Week, and the special menu did not disappoint! The elote appetizer was beautifully presented and flavorful, although it would have been more user-friendly if it were served off the cob. My Sonoran Dog was delicious and my friend's barbacoa also very tasty. I'm not a huge rice pudding fan, but theirs was perfectly sweetened with a nice texture, and i actually liked it a lot. The Mexican hot chocolate cookie that accompanied the pudding was next-level good. it was a busy night, but our food came out fast and our server was friendly. read more

Went to this place with my family (5 of us). I know it was happy hour but my husband ordered a beer and it came in a glass filled halfway. After we said something the waitress said they ran out but never offered him another just made him pay for a full beer that it wasn't. Then we get to food and my sister in law can't have gluten(reason we ate there) she ordered a burger with gluten free bun. Her burger comes with lettuce ad the bun because they were out of gluten free buns. Never told her and didn't give her a choice to say if she still wanted it or something else. The beer aspect was annoying, the ones I wanted to try was out. The one I ended up getting was good. The server tried her best to help me. The food itself was good. Not a lot of choices to pick from. Noble hops has gone down hill. We went for happy hour - not much of one. Appetizers are small portions and outrageously expensive. 3 small pretzel bites for $5, the hummus was absolutely horrendous. Hello, so I rarely leave reviews and I've left maybe one in the past five years. Unfortunately, this recent experience warrants one, and not for good reason. My dad and I both ordered cheeseburgers, he preferred a medium well burger and I preferred medium. What we received were two very overcooked burgers, both well done, without question. On top of that, the burger arrived without lettuce, tomato, or onion. Which are the basic ingredients I'd expect by default. I had to ask for each one individually which was a pain. When I requested a new burger cooked medium, they took both my plate and fries. Oddly, the fries came back first, with the server saying the burger would follow. A few minutes later, the replacement burger arrived and again, it was well done. At that point, I was too tired to keep sending food back so ate it. Not that tasty at all. As a final frustration, I was charged extra for a side of BBQ sauce. That just added to an already disappointing experience. Overall, the food was a letdown for my entire party, and we won't be returning to eat there. The drinks were fine, but that was the only redeeming part of the visit. read more

We just went for lunch with a party of 8...3 of us had a hair in our food, 2 orders weren't right. But we didn't bother saying anything...the only thing worse than the food is the service. Our server was supremely casual, complaining that the chef was only on day two of working there and didn't know what they were doing. All staff was rushed and unfriendly. Loved the view, it's captivating! We came here on a Sunday afternoon and they have a performer at the patio. It kinda makes up for the slow service. We waited for our appetizer for more than 30 mins and another 30 mins for our main course, as well. But I have to admit, food wasn't too bad. Excellent service. My waitress was so kind and prompt. I had the elote bites and Texas Tenderloin. The Elote bites were flavorful and a great serving size for an appetizer. The Texas tenderloin was also delicious but a bit dry, due to the large slices of sourdough and the breaded pork tenderloin (which was also massive, no complaints there). I wish there was a bit more sauce to make it not such a challenge to eat. Otherwise great food, nice outdoor seating area. I enjoyed my time here! read more
