This is one of those places where you place your order and they give you a little number thing for your table for a waiter to bring it to your table. I'm not he biggest fan of this style bc I could just walk the 5 feet myself, but it is a little bit of a novelty. The burger patties are very thin and cooked kinda like a dry version of a McDonald's hamburger. They make up for the patty with great topping choices though. The fires are the best value. Also super thin, even thinner than McDonald's, and their toppings are amazing. Usually around $2-3. So if your in the mood for just fries, this could be a great stop off. They took the cleanliness factor and dialed it up to 11. This place is very clean for a burger joint. Depending on how busy it is it may take a little while to get your food though. The staff is friendly and offer a copy of the menu as you wait in line, so that by the time your turn comes, one isn't overwhelmed with the varieties and combinations that one can play with, when it comes designing a custom burger. The burgers come in two sizes, regular and large and can be customized in countless ways with sauces, toppings, bun types, etc. Besides the burgers, options on the menu include chicken sandwiches , black bean burger option for vegetarians, chicken strips (kids menu), hot dogs. Sides include an assortment of fries, sweet potato fries, beef chili, salads. Overall, the experience was nice as the food is prepared fresh and cooked to near perfection. The Spicy Baja Burger was amazing and really stood out as it was flavored just right and the spiciness wasn't overwhelming, which I wouldn't have minded either. I liked the fresh jalapeños as it gave a crunchiness to the burger. The buffalo chicken sandwich was ok as Frank's red hot was a bit too much, hence empowering the chicken's taste. However, the last time I was here, the tables weren't serviced, the prices on the board didn't match what they charged, my burger wasn't cooked all of the way, and the grease from the fries leaked out. I couldn't even eat them. The time before that, the location was so cold that everyone was wearing coats and scarves while they ate. People requested the heat be turned on, but it wasn't. Being in Port Washington is like being in a desert of affordable greasy food. Yes, there are plenty of nice restaurants and diners, but there aren't many places that cater to the hungry teenager or the hungover twenty-something. Unfortunately, even though you would think Smashburger would be swarmed with this specific demographic, it is often filled with families with younger children. This place gets too busy for its own good. On the weekends it is populated by loud children and screaming parents. Dirty tables are abound, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a seat that's actually clean. I've never really had to wait too long on line, but the food sometimes takes as long as a regular restaurant. The service here is sub par, not necessarily because the workers are mean or unintelligent, but because they are overworked. The business model at Smashburger is like a combination of a sit-down restaurant and fast food. You don't have to bus your own trays and garbage at the end of your meal, but this means that you are often left to sit at an uncleaned table from the trash left by the previous patrons. And since they are understaffed, you don't have anyone to promptly clean up previous messes. I have been here three times, and each time I've had to wipe something with a napkin or brush crumbs off my seat. Only after seeing my party sit down does an employee come over to wipe down the table. Despite the flaws of its customer service and its patrons, the food here is amazing. Besides expensive steakhouses or the cheap meat at Burger King, there's really no place in Port Washington you can get a solid, greasy, delicious burger with a side of crispy french fries. The Smash Fries are drizzled with olive oil and covered in rosemary. It adds a touch of uniqueness for a place that's essentially "upscale" fastfood. The other thing I commend them on is providing the extra part of the milkshake in the metal cup when they bring you your drink. If I'm paying $5 for a milkshake, it better be thick, delicious, and in a decent portion. If you can, get your food to go from this place. This place is crawling with loud children in a restaurant with poor acoustics. You come here for the food, not the ambiance. Pros: Delicious food. Properly sized milkshakes. Cons: Loud. Dirty. Today was the first time I went, with my co-workers. We were a group of 5 and all ordered on one bill, but since we weren't shouting our orders all at once, the only way for the ONE cashier to mess this up during the lunch hour was... she was on something. That's the only explanation I have as to her demeanor and her abilities. She can only understand the language of burgers and not lettuce. The 2 that ordered burgers and fries got their orders just fine. And let me just say, out of the group, I'm the not-nicest one and I didn't speak to any of the workers since others spoke for me. The co-workers I went with are probably some of the nicest and non-provocative people in the entire world. Sure as heck won't stop me from writing this review though, hah! First guy in our group ordered a shake with his meal. She goes over to make it on the shake-making/mixing machine, whatever it is. Holy moly, do they need to grease or clean that machine up! The sounds that were emanated from that piece of hardware were akin to the shrieking noises we made when Sadako from the Ring started making her scaryass way towards us. And it went on for a full 30 seconds that felt like hours. Yes. I timed it. After that, the first BBQ salad w/ chicken order went in, and then 2 Cobb salads w/ Beef patties made their way onto the order. Somehow, that confused the living daylights out of the hopped-up-cashier, cause when the order came out, we ended up with 3 BBQ salads, 1 w/o meat, 2 with beef patties. When speaking with the food-delivery-staff-member, he didn't really care at all. He got kind of cross with us and just sounded super annoyed when telling us that with meat, it'll cost extra. Yeah, we know. We already knew that when we ordered, thank you very much. Overall, the BBQ salad was too sweet, with decent lettuce mix. The shredded cheese was tasteless and really could have done without the one about-to-rot lettuce on the bottom. Really though, save yourselves the trouble and either get it to go and double check your order or just go eat somewhere else. Not worth returning to for me, unfortunately. Just had a terrible experience here, but not sure if it's the fault of Smashburger or Door Dash. We placed our order on Door Dash. They accepted our info and credit card and promised delivery. Subsequent posts indicated our order had been picked up at restaurant and delivered. It was not. We were unable to contact Smashburger; no answer at all. Door Dash informed us that Smashburger no longer accepts their orders. Everything was a total lie. Still working to Door Dash to receive a refund.
