My husband, our 2 grandsons and I just walked out of Smashburger. We were standing on line at the front of the restaurant with many other local families to order our food for about 20 minutes. Only one lady was taking all of the orders. Then she walked away, leaving a long line with nobody taking orders. People behind us started leaving. I walked back to see where she was, and the poor woman was also delivering food to the tables! That was our signal to leave! Clearly, the owners need to hire more staff or they will continue to lose customers. read more

Again My 3rd experience in PW Smashburger has been awful , each time i have ordered something here i have received incorrect, for example yesterday i ordered a spinach and goat cheese chicken sandwich i received my sandwich without goat cheese. The place is swarming with young employees, however these young employees need to be trained with what customer service is , each time i have walked into the place i have found them yip-yapping in the corner, the girl who was suppose to keep the tables clean is holding the cloth in her hand but is too busy talking to her friends then keeping the tables cleaned and after seeing us(me and my husband) looking at the dirty table turned her back to us as if to say that i dont care or give any damn where ever people sit! dont get me wrong the 2nd time when i ordered something and received a wrong bread and not as advertised, the employee at the counter was apologetic and gave us $5 coupon immediately, however to get a coupon is not what i am looking for, can the employees be trained to atleast to make the orders correct? i dont know if i will be going back here any time soon now!!! read more

Went last night with my wife. Walked in and third in line to order, not bad, but the guy in front had clearly never ordered food in his life and was taking forever. No problem. The issue was that there was another "cashier" (heavyset younger woman) behind the register, who noticed the line, walked away to refill her drink, came back to the register, fiddled around and walked away again. We finally ordered and waited for our food. The next several people who ordered after us (all to go orders, so there could be something to that) got their food while we waited. Finally, I walked up to the manager and asked where our order was (it was sitting on the heating shelf). I ordered the chicken sandwich (yes, at Smash Burger). Mistake. The chicken was a plain breast (perhaps slightly seasoned) and over-grilled. My wife ordered a burger, which she declared was "fine." My chicken was a 2 out of 10; no better than your standard fast food restaurant (except it has avocado, feta and cucumber, which is nice, but pointless when the chicken was dry). The Smash fries were good and the onion strings were okay, but mostly just all stuck together. Finally, to make the entire experience just slightly more sucky, all the tables -- actually, not true.....half the tables near us had the waste of their former occupants on the table...a tray here, an empty cub there. Etc. It was gross and no one seemed to care. Not our heavyset "cashier" friend who was occupied at her own table eating/drinking or anyone else. A shortish "manager" woman in a red shirt seemed to come out and boss around a geeky looking dude who eventually started cleaning the tables. Nice, but then the short "manager" and the heavyset "cashier" started taking "selflies" and/or texting on their phones. Awesome place. This was our second time at Smash Burger and undoubtedly our last. I would go to Great Neck for Bare Burger or anywhere on the planet to McDonalds if I want a great burger and chicken sandwich or a mediocre (but better than Smash Burger) burger and well done chicken breast on a bun respectively. I hate the way they changed the take-out packaging. The burgers are wrapped in paper instead of the plastic containers they used to have. The way they wrap it with paper just doesn't keep the burger assembled. So when I open it up at home it looks like a total mess. The burger itself tastes fine. It's what you would expect from a typical burger place. It's juicy and the ingredients are fresh. I usually get the classic smash burger. The fries are cut thin and taste great. They also have sweet potato fries which cost a little extra but are one of my favorites. The milk shakes are pretty good too. The restaurant works sort of like Panera. You give them your order at the register and they give u a number to bring to your table. You wait for your food to be delivered to your table and leave the plates there after you're done. Ate here over the weekend and: 1) place is fairly large and very clean 2) service is very good 3) Menu is varied and prices are fair 4) food is fresh and good but every item from the burgers to the french fries, sweet potato fries and shoestring onions tasted as if they are saturated in salt. All three of us agreed that the meal was easily the saltest meals we ever had in our lives. Several hours after eating we still tasted the salt. When compared to Five Guys the menu is better but the over use of salt ruined the meal. Will go to Five Guys the next time I feel like eating this type meal. read more

I tried to give this another chance. The place was empty, but there were three workers at the same register trying to figure something out for a customer, who looked like he had been there some time. I waited 15 minutes and not once did anyone say "be with you in a minute" or even acknowledge my presence. I have no idea what they were doing or why it required three people. Burgers joints seem to be the thing these days. Thankfully, this one is a nice addition to the mix. I've been here twice in the last couple weeks and both times, I was happy with my experience. I had a burger both times and both times it was cooked perfectly. My mom had the grilled chicken and was very pleased. The first time, both sides (smash fries & onions) were phenomenal. I read somewhere that the fries were spicey. I didn't get that at all. The onions were greasy both times, but they were tasty & a real delight when placed on my burger. My only complaint was the regular fries. They were so salty that my mother and I couldn't eat any. I like my fries thick but these were thin and dry. This place is expensive (both times it was just shy under $20 for two burgers and two fries). This isn't someplace I could afford to eat all the time, but will definitely stop in for a quick meal when I want a good quality burger that you can get quickly. read more

Everything seems a little bit more haphazard here. Smashburger is one of my favorite burger chains to date, and everything here just seemed a little bit below par from other locations I have tried. I was served burgers that had the patty falling out of my hands, and they were swimming in oil (no joke, there was a puddle of oil underneath the burger that seeped through the napkin as well). And the smash fries, which I usually eat without abandon in regards to the oil content (yes, I know they're soaked in olive oil, but they're too delicious to pass up), I hardly touched. I just felt like there was something missing. They just tasted so normal here...which is not a good thing. It kind of sucks because the cashier was so nice and friendly. Hopefully this chain improves so I can come back for my Smashburger fix whenever I find myself in Long Island. read more

Gave this place another shot and.... Had a very different experience this time.... The burger was bland, the fries were still ok (I'm not really a shoestring fries fan). The downside was nobody was at the counter taking orders when I came in, so I had to wait a minute or two to get there attention. Came here because my friend told me it was better than shake shack, however i disagree with him. I got glassic smash, the meat was not as juicy as shake. I would really love to give 3.5 stars but since there's no option for that, I'm going to lean more towards the 3 than the 4. I stopped in for lunch fairly later than usual and definitely later than the typical lunch crowd (probably closer to 3:00). There were about 7 tables with people already eating their food, there was no line and (or maybe this should be BUT) there was one girl on the register who was busy/preoccupied taking a phone order. I wouldn't have minded so much if she actually acknowledged that I was standing there but she kept trying to avoid eye contact with me and it seems the person on the other end of the phone was in on the joke too, as they kept adding items to their order and changing their order and then deciding they wanted to give a cc #.... Again, I could have, would have overlooked this but there were other workers kind of milling about and 2 managers on duty, 1 who also didn't acknowledge me until he saw the other girl was STILL on the phone. While I was waiting, however I did notice that it smelled rather sour inside the restaurant. I'm attributing it to reused rags to wipe down the tables. Here's the funny part: I have become so familiar with processed cheese sauce on fries that I was actually taken aback when I got back to work and realized they put REAL, melted cheese on the fries! This would've been great except for a few things: by the time I got to back to my desk, the cheese wasn't as hot which meant it was just a big clump, it wasn't spread and melted evenly over the fries-it was just kinda plopped in the middle, and the fries were cold and greasy so I couldn't really enjoy it. The burger toppings and bun were great but the actual patty was kind of bland. I don't know if this is specific to this location or indicative of the growing Smashburger brand. Had to check out a second location so we took a drive to LI. We both got the big smash all american burgers because we were hangry with regular frieds, and 2 Stewart root beers. The root beers came with frosty beer mugs! Nice perk! Everything came out really fast, hot, and fresh. The burger was big but not overwhelming but I do think it was a little over seasoned. I still tore it up though. The fries were meh I've had better fries at home so I think they need to step it up on that. Overall the food was good and I would go back to try the chicken sandwiches on their menu. I liked this location as well but it was a little far. Came here while visiting the local Animal Shelter, North Shore Animal League. They offer a wide variety of burgers, chicken sandwiches, and salads. We got the Cobb Salad and chicken sandwich with a side of Vegetable Fries. The Salad was very tasty and fresh, served in a large red bowl with the usual ingredients and an egg (interesting touch!). The chicken sandwich was also very fresh tasting. Flash Fried veggies were $2.99 served with a ranch dipping sauce, as nice change from the usual french fries. They also give you an option of different beers on tap which is nice change from the usual fast casual restaurant. We ordered a beer for $3.50. They also have several different malts and shakes. A little on the pricier side but good food for a weekend lunch! read more

The food is what you expect. Unfortunately the manager on duty is nothing short of a jerk. I went with my kid today and decided to eat in. We sat a couple of tables away from the food pickup window. When I picked up my order and brought back to my table, I realized that the Kids Chicken Strips I ordered weren't in the bag. I went right back to the pick up window and told the guy running the window who happened to be the manager that they were missing. He responded "They were in there". When I explained I'm sitting right close by and only got the order from him 20 seconds ago, he responded with "I don't know what to tell you. They were in there" and turned his back to me. I said go check the table and my pockets. He just turned his back to me again. So angrily, I head back up to register to buy another order for kid. I tell him he's rude and disrespectful. Hey Yelp! You really need an option to choose NO STARS!!! I am really getting sick of horrible customer service. First off how DARE you stop to go fill a drink and drink it casually while you have a line of people that have been waiting for 20 minutes to even place their order and a line of people waiting for a half hour for their overpriced food?!!! Second how can all of the staff completely stop everything because of one order being messed up. The lady taking the order went to the kitchen, the server went to the kitchen and the "cooks" came out of the kitchen and they all just stood around while the line of people grew. Fast forward a half hour i get my food which was to go. When the "cook" placed my order on the to go counter for the lady to bag it and finally call my name he spilled most of the fries on the dirty ass counter and had to replace them with "fresh ones". Finally sit down to eat it and guess what...my order was not only wrong but the food was horrible. Horrible is putting it lightly. My burger was a small hard crispy patty with one leaf of weltering lettuce and some tiny tomatoes that had definitely been sitting out too long. There was no cheese no sauce nothing! Just a plain ol dry burger. My "fresh" fries were old cold and hard. The only thing good was the way overpriced sprite. $4.99 for a crappy burger $4.29 for crappy fries and a drink...$10+ for this?!!!!?? For what?!??? This was my first and LAST experience with smashburger. I don't think these franchises realize the workers they put in the store is driving the company to the ground! I really wish there was a way to sue this place for my $10 back because i feel so cheated. I have not been this angry about food in a looooong time. If my rating were based solely on food quality, Smashburger would get a 5. However, receiving the food you ordered seems to be a problem. I've been here 3 times so far, and each time something in my order is messed up. If getting your food to go, I highly recommend checking your order before you leave to make sure that what you ordered is indeed what you received. There seems to be a tendency for the kitchen to leave out parts of an order (ie smashed fries that aren't "smashed"), or substitute it with something else (ie you get cucumbers when you ordered avocado). read more

I wanted to give it 5 stars especially after I attended the Yelp Smashburger event in Wantagh and gave Smashburger 5 stars but I can't...It's not the food. I told my girlfriend all about how great the food was so I took her to the Port Washington store. We got there at 6:30 Friday evening. Walked in and I thought It was at a private kids birthday party. Every table was filled with at least 4 to 5 screaming kids. I got to the counter to order and the noise was so loud we couldn't hear each other to order the food. The counter person had to yell to be heard. I asked the waiter and was told it's like this a lot in here it fills up with kids. While we were eating the kids just kept coming in the door nonstop. I realized the design of the store had a lot to do with this, No sound proofing anywhere, metal roof, brick walls, hard tables and chairs. Not a soft surface in the place to absorb sound. Fill it with kids and you can't have a conversation. I couldn't even tell if they had music playing. I counted over 35 kids under the age of 5 in there at dinner time. I came to sit and relax and have a burger and beer on a Friday evening and couldn't finish my meal due to the screaming. I can't go back, but if you have kids, bring them, they'll have plenty of friends to play with. read more

I am waiting for the food so this review is about the service. One there was 4 people at the front register including the general manager and they were all talking and after 4 minutes of waiting they finally greeted me and asked to take my order. I should of just walked away but I'm starving with limited time. I always love a good shake with my burger but the general manager stated I couldn't have my shake extra thick because I have to way to charge you for it. That is ridiculous!! Every place I go and order my shake extra thick they are more then glad to do that to make customer happy and if I pay 30cents more no big deal. Instead this manager refused and lost a $4 shake sale. He is running a restaurant of all young pretty girls and he seems to love talking to all of these them vs making the Resturant money and guest happy.
