At a recent family discussion about the Nathan's hot dog contest, I mentioned that I'm past my peak eating days. My Butler's Flat research turned up proof of this, as emails showed that two earlier trips contained a second dinner in Port Washington but this time one was enough. I got the cold lobster roll with fries. It was good, with minimal mayo allowing a lobster focus, though I'd rank Jordan's higher. In prior trips I liked the belly clams and seafood stew. I may try the crab roll next time as that's a rare menu option. There's a nice waterfront setting. Ordering is at the counter. For non-locals, you can get here by bus from the train station - the ride isn't long but it is infrequent.

They're back open for the season. The warm lobster rolls are one of the better ones in the area and it's a must. The outside seating scenery absolutely relaxing and lovely.

It's funny to call something a hidden gem that's been there for a while but when it's new to you it certainly feels hidden. A friend recommended I try their lobster rolls and I'm so glad she did! I love a cold lobster roll and this place nailed it. Beautiful spot on the water with the perfect portion for a sandwich. Average price and you can't beat the views.

We were able to drive over via boat and park at the dock. Parking was free. We went up to the window to order and sat down to eat our meal. The food was tasty. This place is good if you just want to grab a quick bite, as there is not really table service and parties are encouraged to leave once done with their food, as seating is limited.

The lobster roll and view are the stars of the show. The lobster roll is excellent. $30 might seem high but they come with French fries. The view is beautiful. You order at a window and a server brings the food to you. Very relaxing, wonderful summertime vibe. I look forward to returning.

Calm environment and a nice view overlooking Manhasset Bay! We went for lunch during a weekend visit at Port Washington. Neat and clean outdoor seatings for a 'shack' and food was not bad. We ordered the Clam Chowders which was meh, Lobster Roll was okay, Sea Scallops and Whole Belly Clams was good. 3 stars on food and extra star for the vibe & view.

Opens seasonally so check before you go. I was here the week of labor day so they were luckily still open. But they are about to close for the season. Stunning views of the Bay and at sunset, it's so serene. This was the perfect week to come vs the busy summer days. The place gets packed at prime dinner time (6pm-8pm) so head over earlier or come right at 7:30pm...that's the sweet time slot. Tables cannot be reserved and when it's super busy, a staff member will assist in securing a table once you've gotten your food. Sometimes you'll have to share a table, it's a courteous thing to do and when it's that busy, everyone just wants to enjoy their food with the view. Be nice! Onto the food: love the clam chowder - full of ingredients and it's the perfect balance of creamy but not too heavy. The lobster roll served with fries, the baked fish served over farro and the whole belly clams entrees are my go-to choices almost every visit. I like what I like and between the salad and slaw - you get your vegetables in. For the non-seafood options, there's the impossible burger, grilled cheese (so good!!), hot dog and cheeseburgers just to name a few. There are salad options too with or without proteins. Something for everyone. Always a great time at Butler's Flat. It's an institution. Enjoy!

Ali the owner and his talented staff always make the experience great no matter how busy the restaurant is. I came here with very good friends of mine that I knew loved Turkish food. We came here on Saturday night and when I arrived the restaurant was packed. Despite that we never felt rushed, they were well staffed and worked together as a well oiled machine to make the experience flawless. The weather was perfect so we sat outside, there is ample parking either in their parking lot or across the street. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with hand blown glass chandeliers from Turkey. For the sake of brevity I'm going to list all the dishes we had. Each one had its own unique flavor down to the Lavos Hollow bread with its slightly buttery flavor. You have to try each one. Prices are very fair and portions are great. We had the eggplant with tomato sauce, Turkish Ezme, Calves liver cubes, a large Shepherd salad, for appetizers. For entrees we had two of the Bronzino, the Shrimp Shish, and the Lamb Shish. For desert we had the Chocolate Baklava, the Kunefe, the Turkish coffee, and a of the Apple tea. Ali made a couple of special dishes including an eggplant dish and home made hot Halvah for desert. It's amazing how small the world really is. My friends thought they knew the owner Ali but could not pinpoint from where. After talking for a while they realized they knew him from when he worked at another Turkish restaurant in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn called Liman. It has since moved to Coney Island. Ali opened Bosporus Cafe Grill in Port Washington in 2014 and I'm am glad he took the risk to go out on his own. His business partner is the chef and is also a butcher. They've combined their talents to provide one of the best restaurants experiences you will ever have. I've been coming here for several years and it never gets old. I highly recommend them for great food, service and atmosphere. There's a lot to see in Port Washington and you can take a stroll by the water afterwards.

They start you off with some warm buns served with honey butter and they were GOOD. So good that we asked for more and then tried to stop ourselves from devouring them before our food even arrived. For appetizer, we ordered the crispy calamari. The batter was very light and the calamari itself was so delicate and sweet. You can definitely tell how fresh the seafood is and that stayed true for the rest of our meal. For pastas, we got the spaghetti fra diavolo containing lobster and shrimp. Again, the seafood was fresh, sweet, and tender. The pasta was also a shocker, not only was it perfectly firm, it had such a nice chewy texture. You can feel and taste how homemade the pasta is. Next, the rigatoni eggplant was our unexpected favorite. The pasta texture was even better with the rigatoni shape and the eggplant was not even noticeable, it blended in so well with the sauce. The ricotta on top was the perfect creamy addition. For proteins, the pork chop was very tender and juicy. The sweet glaze wasn't overly sweet and it really complimented the savoriness of the meat. The brussel sprouts on this dish were also outstanding. I love when a restaurant doesn't treat the veggies as a side dish! The branzino was light and refreshing, it was a really great balance to the other saucier dishes we had. The service was extremely attentive and so friendly. They really took care of us and made sure we enjoyed our meal.

Service from Ken and Alex was attentive, seamless, and effortless throughout. The hot and sour soup with grilled shrimp was rich, comforting, and perfectly balanced with just the right kick. The Malaysian-style red curry with seasonal vegetables, roti, and grilled shrimp, served with brown rice, was equally flavorful and well executed. Prices reflect the quality--and it shows. Also, early on, we had a little service issue that was tacitly resolved in our favor. We only wanted to order appetizers at first and later order the main courses. The server told us words to the effect that they take the order for everything at the same time because if later the restaurant is packed, the kitchen gets overwhelmed, and, also, they bring out the food whenever it's ready. As requested, we gave her our order for everything, but ultimately she was able to just serve the appetizers first and then pause until we were done with them before she brought out the main courses. My wife wanted a sweet white wine with her fish, like a Mosel. The closest they said they had was a fruity white Riesling, called Selbach/Incline, which turned out to be very fruity and delicious!

Lee's Korean Kitchen in Port Washington is a clean little take-out spot right on Haven Street by the train station. The owners are friendly, and the food was to my liking. We ordered 20 wings (10 original and 10 soy garlic), French fries, and coleslaw. The coleslaw tasted really fresh--it wasn't drenched in slaw marinade nor overly sweet. The fries were good, with a nice amount of herbs and not too garlicky. The chicken, though, was obviously my favorite. I enjoyed both the non-sauced and sauced ones. The seasoning was spot on, and the wings were all a decent size. The original ones had a nice coating and were perfectly seasoned. The soy garlic wasn't overly sauced, and because the coating was done right, it still had a crunch to it even after a 12-minute drive.
