I'm waffling between 3 & 4 stars for my review - Please YELP - let us minions have the option of half stars :-) I came to Smash Burger the other night when the CEO/Co-Owner, Tom Ryan, was in town. I definitely give the layout, decor, and vibe of Smash Burger a big 2 thumbs up. It was clean, bright, plenty of seating & family friendly. Highlights for me included three flavored of iced tea with stevia as the sweetener! When have you ever seen Stevia at the fountain here? I appreciated their choice of locally crafted beer - Alley Kat! Optional bottled Dad's root beer & cream soda are also a winner winner chicken dinner with this Kat :-) The beef did not disappoint and the price point is spot on at $6.99 for an artisan 4 1/2 oz. certified angus burger and $7.99 for a 6 oz. The chicken was higher at about $8.49 and less filling - the chicken is pounded flat before searing on the grill to lock in the juices. The multigrain buns (usually my fave) were far too dense and completely overwhelmed the chicken. I much preferred the egg bun but like George, I do not understand why the bread is being shipped in from Chicago. The beef is certified 80/20 angus, grass fed, and corn finished for the last 30 days - said to give a more buttery flavor. But then again they sear your burger on the flat top with unsalted clarified butter anyway. They def got it right with toppings like a fried egg, haystack onions, sautéed baby portobellos, fresh jalapeños, Local whiskey BBQ sauce. Swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, truffle oil, and many more! The sides were a real show stopper for me! Shareable and priced from $2.49 to $4.99 ranging from yam fries, to veggie frites (wok inspired carrots & green beans), haystack onions (my fave), to poutine! They def got the sides right :-) For dessert time, they make old fashioned milkshakes countertop style. The Oreo was great but the Saskatoon berry was probably the worst milkshake I have ever had. I didn't taste anything resembling fruit and the texture was very displeasing - with large chunks of Saskatoon berry flesh getting stick in the straw :-( While I appreciate the effort to include local flavors and they got it right with Alley Kat & the BBQ sauce, it was a total miss with the Saskatoon shake. Take a peek at a bunch of the pics I uploaded :-)

Went looking for a better version of a McChicken and both Wendy's and mcdonalds blows them away for this sad $7.99 crispy chicken burger. It's smashed together on rotten wilted lettuce with hot and mushy tomatoes and the chicken paddy is about under a quarter inch thick. Had to take the toppings off and left with a bun and chicken for my $8 The picture says it all

I ordered the "Spicy Jalapeño Baja" burger with a poutine. The poutine was a little light on the gravy so I asked to get a side to add to it. I was informed that a container the size of a ketchup cup would cost $1.05-not worth it and as gravy isn't even on the menu as an add-on, I don't know where that price came from. The burger was well put together, the vegetables fresh and without defects, the sauces were flavorful, and the buns were soft. I was very disappointed with the burgers though! Very bland! I don't think there was any seasoning in/on it, BUT it was still moist and a good size. Overall, if you're searching for a mind blowing burger, Smashburger is not the place to go.

The baja salad with chicken added is divine! Great dressing and gigantic flavour at a awesome price

Every time we go to Sherwood Park, we always make a stop to Smashburger. The ownership is a set of great people. The prices are more than reasonable, the staff is all very knowledgeable, and most importantly, the food is out of this world! There are about 7 or 8 burgers and some chicken options as well as great salads. I normally get the large sized bacon cheeseburger which is colossal in size and flavour! The smashfries are very unique and very tasty! The egg bun, hand made patties and fresh ingredients just make this place so addicting! They also have milkshakes and make a great poutine. The only thing that needs to be done is for them to open a location in the southwest ;). The St Albert location is equally as fabulous!

Burger was unexceptional and the fries were undercooked, and greasy like a wet sponge.

Very good burgers with lots of options: beef, chicken or black bean patties. The truffle Swiss burger is the highlight.

For me, it's actually too big, but if you've got an appetite I'm sure you can handle it. Very moist and flavourful patty. There was a perfect hint of garlic, which I'm not sure was the patty or the Marvin sauce. I built my own burger with Swiss, lettuce, tomato, guac, and Marvin sauce. It was perfect. I'll definitely be back if they are in my area again.

Seems to be a bunch of younger guys banging out amazing burgers and very happy to have the privilege to do so. Now onto the food.... let's start with the fries... holy god damn! Do you know those amazing Costco fries? The ones that are super crispy and fluffy on the inside with the perfect flavor to them? Well... they do them here.... but crispier and more of a punch of flavor. I decided to get the whiskey river BBQ burger. It's generally a standard for me in my choices. Taking the first bite I was amazed at the perfection of the bacon. Not to hard and not to soft making it the best to mix in with the rest of my bite. The buns are about as soft as they can be without being under baked. When you take a bite it has already soaked up some of the BBQ sauce making it even more melt in your mouth then it already does. If you can pick a favorite burger spot that you know of not only will this place beat it, but you will easily see how a burger from here will outclass anything else on your mind. Real food, real people, real good time. I look forward to seeing what else and where they will be in Edmonton this year

So you should know by now, my illustrious readers, that I like cheap. Not cheap quality mind you,…read morebut cheap price tags. I can appreciate quality in things and will happily pay for it. However, I can't help but get all giddy and flushed when I find quality AND a cheap price in once spot. I've been to this little gem called Clarks twice now in the last two weeks. Once for breakfast to meet a super cool friend of mine who sells sex toys for a living, (told you she was cool), and another time for lunch with my Mom. ( My mom doesn't sell sex toys for a living, and while I thank God for that, she's still cool.) So I'm only going to review the lunch with Mom for this post because I wasn't thinking to take photos of the breakfast I had with my cool friend, plus my Mom said "Hey, you should review this place". Smartypants. Easy to find, this little spot has maybe 10 tables in the whole place, I think. Surprisingly, it was about half full at 12:30 in the afternoon, (thought it might be busier), but our server greeted us immediately when we walked in the door and brought us to a table. Taking our drink order and giving us menu's she left us to decide. The prices on this menu are amazing people! Mom ordered liver and onions (she could have ordered the senior's size for $6.50 - one scoop of mashed potatoes with gravy, two pieces of liver, and vegetables - but she's in denial about the senior thing I think - so she ordered the normal portion). She went on about how she hasn't eaten liver for almost a year, and I reminded her that it's been about 25 years since I've eaten it. I'd rather run naked through a cactus patch and bathe in a tub of vinegar than eat liver. Ok, not quite, ..... but well, honestly?...... Maybe. I ordered their house burger (can't remember the name of it dammit!), but it had cheese, bacon and mushrooms on it with all the other burger paraphernalia, and fries. The price for that burger rang in at $8.99. When the dishes came to the table, my mom seemed super pleased with her decision. She tried her first bite of the liver and looked up to the ceiling and said " OH MY GOD" (all dramatic like), with an added "this is the best liver I"ve had in a very long time!!". The waitress came along and Mom repeated what she expressed loud enough for all the other tables sitting around us to hear, and then the waitress went straight away into the kitchen and you could her yell... "JUAN!! Hey JUUAAAAN!!! -The liver and onions are excellent she said!". Mom figured the liver was slightly coated in a panko type coating and fried slightly crispy, but not like "shoe leather". The gravy tasted home-style, the mash was smooth and creamy and she said the veggies were very good - fresh, not from frozen and not overcooked. All this stupid excitement over the liver made me think I had to try it. So I cut a very small piece and kinda dipped in some gravy. It was crispy on the outside, tender, and still tasted disgustingly like liver to me. But I will admit, it was the very best of all the gross tasting liver I've ever had in my life. For real - If you love liver, you will love Clarks' liver. (Somehow that sounded weird, but you get what I'm saying) My burger was pretty good. The patty was house made and slightly dense, almost overworked, but very tasty. The cheese and bacon were nice but it could have used a few more mushrooms. All in all, the portion size was more than worth that price tag. Hell, you're gonna pay that same price pretty much at MacDonald's and the patties there are like shingles. Our server was VERY attentive and incidentally, an older lady who's been with the company for 22 years. This lady worked her ass off, was super friendly and made sure we were looked after. She was worth the generous tip, without question! On a side note, their breakfasts are super decent (EG: 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 sausage, 2 bacon for $5.35.) and they have a huge variety of different Eggs Benedict if you're looking for something other than the original. I will definitely be going back to Clarks for breakfast or lunch. Apparently for dinner, it becomes a chinese food place, which is great, but I can't comment right now because I've not tried it................................ Yet. www.forkinfoodie.com
