Chop, inside the Sandman Sherwood Park, is a delicious steak restaurant that absolutely outshines its hotel placement. In fact, I don't think I've ever had a restaurant at a hotel be this good. I *think* there's an entrance from the outside, but from inside the hotel it's quite unassuming. It also feels nothing like a chain. Our meals were good, though admittedly a bit more done than ordered and somehow looked totally different from one another (with one crisp on the exterior) despite both being Filet Mignon. I had mashed potatoes, my partner had cauliflower, and we shared a cheesecake. It was all quite good, though likely would've been better slightly less cooked and if we'd both added sauces (an up charge). read more

We were a little nervous about a restaurant chain being attached to our hotel, however it didn't disappoint. We visited for breakfast/brunch. Portion sizes were perfect. Always a top notch experience when we come to Chop! We came here for a late Valentines dinner, and the evening did not disappoint. There was a special prix fix menu. The highlight was the beet salad. It was AMAZING! Seriously they need to make this a regular item on their menu, I'd order it every time! Our waitress recommended the house wine, to which I was pleasantly surprised. Service is always pleasant and friendly. We always ask for a quiet booth and we always get a nice quiet corner. My steak and lobster was divine, hubs liked his seafood pasta. The food was absolutely delicious. My husband and I share the wedge salad and garlic prawns. We each ordered a French onion soup. It was a shame we didn't have enough room for the dessert trio. The steak bites alone deserve 100 stars! They were cooked to absolute perfection and the sauces that came with them were delicious. If we weren't in public I would have literally licked the plate. My husband ordered another round of steak bites just for his entree and their furious fries. The dipping sauce for the fries was a little overpowering but still great. I ordered the steak and baked potato. Amazing! The staff were great. Such friendly servers and hostess. We went for happy hour between 3-6pm. Even with it being a bit early in the evening, there were still a few other customers and everyone seemed to be enjoying their visit! We sat in the Lounge part of the restaurant and it was great. I so enjoy this Chop location. I have visited several times and it has become our go to for our work meetings. I dined with a friend on my last visit and the food was absolutely awesome. We had each had French Onion soup which was savoury and rich. The community bread supports a local charity and the brown salted butter is incredible. My main on the last visit was a steak with shrimp. Steak was cooked perfectly and shrimp was nice. Vegetables were slightly harder than I prefer but overall great meal. Our server was kind and attentive. However a few small details that needed to be worked on. It was busy so not she told us that some things were mixed up like our bread was taken to another table. This was removed from the bill but bread with the soup would have been great. We also asked for info on the soup of the day and had to wait and ask a couple times before we got an answer. Nothing huge and we are easygoing but these things may not show patience in others. This restaurant is classy yet warm. Lots of groups, families, couples and friends. I love the colors this location is decorated in. Can't wait for our next visit. read more

My sister and I decided to give Chop Steakhouse a try and we were not disappointed. The evening started with having the most attentive waitress take care of us. Kayla was super friendly and courteous, and we both said that she was working in the right profession based on her personality. We each ordered the Prime Rib and there wasn't a morsel left on our plates when we were done Along with the food being amazing, all of the staff we encountered were lovely, and the atmosphere is so welcoming and warm. I like this place but was disappointed at the same time both in food and service let's start with the food the bread was good the butter that comes with it was the best I ever had the onion soup was top 5 I ever had the aju was made there it had grate flavor it was nice and dark had good amout of booze in it it had onions in it unlike most just didn't like the mozzarella well I think it was definitely not swiss that was all grate not the not so good I order the prime rib medium rare it came out well done it and my patato and bacon on it witch i am allergic to pork it took at least 10 mins to get the server over to have them do something about it so they took it back the manager brought it back the patato still had bacon in it finely after getting my food the prime rib was still medium well at best so I just ate it it wasn't that bad but still in a steak house you are paying for service and the quality of food they could of did much better didn't even get a apology my friends were almost done eating before I even got my food it took probably a 5 to a 2 very sad because I try the ribye steak it was good read more

Brand new restaurant attached to the Sandman Hotel I got the steak salad it was only $22 and a chicken salad was $20. We took my grandmother and had fantastic service it was her birthday they gave her complementary crème brûlée and our wine by the glass was half off during happy hour from 3 to 6 so it was much more affordable than we were expecting. I highly recommend this particular location. It's always nice to eat in a hotel. I'd like to try this place for brunch. read more

Absolutely phenomenal drinks, food, staff, and service all around! We went to Chop for my husband's 40th birthday on October 30th, and we were blown away with how smoothly & perfectly everything was operating, even though they had just opened around a week prior. Not only did they give my husband a complimentary piece of birthday cake with "happy birthday" written in chocolate sauce next to it, the staff also wished my husband a happy birthday by giving him a card signed by all the staff (with a GC for free steak bites next time we come to Chop). Such thoughtful gestures! Oh, and their Pink Lemonade drink is officially my favourite alcoholic drink of all time now - SO GOOD!! We'll definitely be back, sooner than later. We had a great evening here. We had made a reservation for a birthday celebration, upon entry the host had even wished my significant other a happy birthday which was nice. We were told about the 'chop experience' and had a very nice waitress. Made sure we had everything we needed. Unfortunately my steak came out wrong (undercooked). The manager happened to be walking by at that moment and I had asked if he could get our waitress for me, and he had said he was the manager and asked if he could help me with anything. I had advised that my steak came out not the way I had asked for it. He was very apologetic, and made the situation right. I was brought a salad to munch on while I waited for my steak. My date was pretty much done eating by the time I got my food. Once they finally brought that out, it was cooked properly, and it was delicious. Then they were even kind enough to cover the dessert for the birthday due to the mix up so we got the molten chocolate cake. Delicious! Thankfully they have gluten friendly options available as well. Overall they did make the night much better and we had a great time and we will be back. They even had all staff sign a birthday card. How sweet is that! Amazing customer service at this location. It wasn't a bad night just had a few hiccups. We went back for our weekly date night and got a variety of things. Everything was wonderful. I would never expect for a business to reach out on this app but they did which was surprising. You can tell how much they care about top quality service. Nice modern decore. Booths and wood trim. Dance lounge music. Staff all tall and slim, appear to be selectively hired. Beef dip had the heavy bread which is hard to eat and dip. They should put in more meat and use a lighter bun. The house greens had head lettuce hidden in the bottom as filler. Decent wine and beer selection. Staff were friendly and accommodating. read more

It's finally here! After a long-awaited night-out this location is finally open and you ready for business! We were really excited to try the happy hour menu off which we ordered chops famous steak bites and vegetable tempura. Both were delicious! Especially the steak bites with the creamy horseradish sauce, they are so tender and for 6 bucks on a happy hour menu how can you go wrong! They also had a lot of drink specials which were eloquently prepared! I was also watching what other people were ordering and their food looked awesome too! I can't wait to try out the dining room for the full dinner experience. The lounge is beautifully decorated, open with a high-end casual feel. The service was awesome and we always had someone checking on us to keep our drinks full which was great. Can't wait to go back and try more things on the menu. My husband and I had our steaks delivered to our home and we weren't disappointed. First f all I have an allergy and the restaurant employee Ryan called me to make sure my meal was going to be safe for me to eat. He went over and above to make sure my allergy was taken care of. Now for the food. We had the 12oz New York Strip loin steak. That was by far the best steak I have ever eaten. Even though my steak was well done, it was still juicy and tender. We just went in for brunch on a Sunday around 11:15 and after sitting in the lounge for 10 minutes with only 3 other tables occupied and without so much as an acknowledgement from the waitress, the bartender, the restaurant server who was standing with the bartender having a chat, or the other waitress who came on shift while we were waiting.
