After we got home and discovered the inaccuracy of the order, we telephoned the store and spoke to a manager 'Sukhy' at 2:10 PM. Sukhy apologized and said to come back and he would redo the order. We went back the following day, as there was a snowstorm on Long Island last night. I returned today, and was told that now Sukhy could only take off ONE side and ONE salad. When asked why, he responded "Because I spoke to them in the back." Apparently, Sukhy is not in full control of your restaurant, and is intimidated by the kitchen staff. I hesitate to return to that location, between the counter person saying "I don't know why these gloves are even here" and the poor quality of the food. When I told Sukhy about the sanitary concerns, he told me that the Health Department had been there last week. Apparently, Sukhy needs a management certification course, and your employees need to be brought up to speed on the regulations for food handlers. Your manager's kitchen problems (Confirmed by the Counter person-she said "I took the order but...them back there...") are probably not anything that can be successfully addressed without a change in management. read more

burgers are better than shake shack. shake shack relies on their bun and cheese to mask the fact that their beef patties are dry and tasteless. five guys burger is just... no. it wants to be epic and it always 'looks' great, but it's not even on par with a wendys burger. the smashburger classic was pretty much the best fast food burger i've ever had. it tasted super fresh and clean with the veges (shack burger lacks that), but the beef patty itself also stood on it's own. the patty was relatively juicy, had a great crust, and was SEASONED well. this burger tasted more like an in-n-out burger, but the beef in the smashburger is superior. fries were super thin and crispy, something you may or may not enjoy. i personally liked the fact that it was a different type of fry. the prices were what you would expect for a higher end fast food joint but still very reasonable. service was quick and easy. all in all, my new go to fast food burger joint. read more

My family and I used to go to this location all the time and even recommended to others. Lately the food quality has diminished, portions are significantly smaller, burgers are often broken in pieces or over cooked. There service is also lacking. People at counter are disengaged and unhappy looking. The biggest complaint is the cleanliness of the store. It looks disgusting, floors are either sticky or greasy, many of the tables are left dirty, covered with food and have layers of old grease or food. Even the glass, floor and walls have layers of dust and or other filth. As I told my husband, if the dining area looks like this, I can't imagine the kitchen. Gross. read more

I visited smashburger on Sunday. The location was nice and clean, but the atmosphere wasn't the best. The cashier met me with a serious( not smiling) attitude, then I could hear the noisy beeping sounds of the kitchen.The hamburger was amazing , so were the French fries , but I wouldn't recommend the onion rings .Strawberry shake was delicious. read more

Wish I could say it was good, but I have been there twice in past three months and both times they got my order wrong. Since I take it home and find the problem then its a real pain since I live about 10 min away. The first time they forgot to put the haystack onions on one of the burgers I ordered, but we thought "hey these things happen". Tonight, they messed up both burgers mixing the toppings up and after paying for a larger burger had two regular size. This time I went back, they apologized and refunded my payment. However you would have thought the manager might have tried to make things right after I explained the situation and my previous experience, he didn't and they lost a customer. The store in Wantagh is terrible. Every time we order, they cannot get the order right. Tonight the computers were down and they couldn't process the orders. Once we finally got our food it was cold. I always get either the smash chicken or burger baja style with sweet potato smash fries. The burger is flavorful and delicious. The chicken is juicy and seasoned well. Those fries! The perfect balance of sweet and savory, well worth it. The bun is a little soft but it is a chipotle bun and tasty. My boyfriend also usually gets a shake which always comes out very well. The staff is always super friendly and accommodating. Would recommend. A+. Perfect line between fast food and sit down restaurant. We tried Smashburger in Ga. 2011. I enjoyed it but hubby was in a mood and didn't enjoy he was tired and cranky from the flight. We live in NY and now a Smashburger opened up near us. Talking him into going tonight. Food was fresh and loved everything except for the amount of salt in the food. We both had the regular smashburger and the fried onions and both were so loaded with salt we have done nothing but drink water all evening. We will return and next time order our food with no salt and if they can't accommodate that request we won't be dining there. Salt is good for flavoring but it shouldn't be so salty that is all you taste for the most part. read more

Pretty good not so fast food burger place. The options are varied since you can get fried pickles or veggies instead of the typical fries and onion rings. Shakes are pretty decent too. Usually get my food to go, but they will bring your food over to you if you stay. read more

Normally I would go in and but recently I tried ordering online and I won't be doing it again. I ordered two chicken sandwich's, an order of fries, and a butterfinger milkshake. Instead I got two hamburgers and no shake. On top of that there was also grossly long hair in one of the burgers. Ordering in store no problem, ordering online not so much. read more

How this place is still in business is beyond me, I went in there with my son last summer and had the worst burgers I ever had to pay for, was passing by the other day with him and decided to give it another try, If you like stale rolls ,over cooked meat and fresh toppings, then this is your place, and it aint cheap either, for what you get. Ive only gone here two times as I really dont care for the food; however my husband does so we went. Both times they were out of what I wanted. Once it was an avocado chicken burger And the other time it was a vanilla shake. Seriously. The people that work there are nice and the location is clean. I went in here around 20 minutes to 7 tonight. I have Celiac Disease which means I can't consume wheat, rye barley, oat and gluten or I can become severely ill. I understand that when I go into a restaurant that there can be a chance of cross contamination. However, I was very happy when I learned about some of Smashburger's gluten free options. I explained to the cashier named Allison that I have to eat gluten free and she rolled her eyes at me, assuming eating gluten free is a lifestyle choice not something dire! I thought this was very rude and disappointing on her part assuming things about strangers and not taking the time to truly help customers. Smashburger?? This place should be named Saltburger! Honestly, my mouth was tingling for two days afterward. The amount of salt used in this burger is just beyond comprehension. The French Fries and Haystack Onions didn't fare much better, pretty darn salty as well. The sad part is they have the makings of a great tasting burger, a well rounded menu, excellent service, and a very nice dining atmosphere. With the right combination, they could be huge. PS check the nutritional information, you'll find the sodium content for a medium burger is around 1900mg, and that's before the cook adds their own touch. Compare this to say, Shake Shack at 850mg sodium. If you can't tell the difference, your taste buds are going dead. read more

Smashburger is not your average burger joint. I ordered a classic smash with a side of fried pickles and chicken tenders for my son. Our food was swiftly brought to us by a young strapping black man. My palette couldn't fathom the mixture of flavors. The moist bun melted in my mouth, while the succulent beef had its way with my tastebuds. The fried pickles were finger licking good. The worst. My second time going last night. People were not lying when they said this location is horrible. 45 minute wait for my burger!!! And it wasn't even satisfying after I ate it at 8:30 at night. It was way too burnt and bland that I actually had to add salt. The smash fries were so underwhelming and I was super excited to try them because the first time I ever went they were out of them. When we went to get a refund after waiting a half an hour the girl at the counter said she couldn't issue me one because she was not authorized and the manager who was, was behind the counter cooking. So I was pretty much forced to wait. They were so understaffed and I cannot tell you how many people waited an hour!!(I know because we all bonded over hunger and compared receipt times) and then brought it back because they messed it up. Total waste of money. When I finally got my food I looked in the bag to make sure my order was correct and there was a cup of ranch with no lid. So I asked the kid if I could have a lid and he said he had to go into the kitchen to get more. Ok...so get more. What am I supposed to do with this? Put it in my pocket? The only saving grace was the fried pickles which were even too salty for me and I LOVE salty. I'd say save your money and go to another location or just skip it altogether and eat at Five Guys and Shake Shack. So much better food. This place is disgusting as are the employees. The young guys working there would rather hit on the very young girls that just came in to hang out or go out for smoke breaks than do their damn job. The entire resturant looked like the back of a garbage truck. Disgusting. Employees also loud and vulgar in the dining area. I wish I could tell you about the food but I was so busy taking in all the scenery like the chocolate shake waterfalls and vast mountains of old food and wrappers that I forgot what it was like. I was also bracing for a fight that seemed like it was going to break out between the staff. Entire dinner went down sideways, not a comfortable environment here. Contacted Smashburger via their website and described this experience and received no response. No idea where the owner or manager of this place hides out, but they better straighten this place up if they plan on staying in the neighborhood long term. read more

I don't know what happened to this place. I used to love their food. My husband and I ordered a burger, salad with chicken, and fries. My chicken was overcooked and dry. I had asked for no onion on my salad, but my salad was served with it. The cook behind the kitchen partition seemed annoyed by the error and you could tell he was unhappy with working here in general. My husband's burger was also dry and tasteless. The smash fries used to be good, but they were also dried out. There was only one expeditor and it took awhile to get my salad which was sitting under the heat lamp for a while. Why would you put a salad under the lamps? The ambiance has changed. They seemed understaffed. There was one cashier who had to leave her station a couple of times and the line would pile up. They used to be a warmth in this place and there were employees who used to clear the tables and ask how everything was with a pleasant smile. That's no longer here. the location of this place is good in Wantagh, however the customer service is not that great, we tried to call in a large order over the phone and they said we were taken any due to us being busy so we packed up the car and went down there, there were 4 customers in the restaurant. so we placed our 10 burger order, the wait time was reasonable, however when we got home and starting to take out the food 2 out of the 10 orders were correct. this seems to be an on going thing in this location. this happens all the time our order is incorrect every time we go there, after our experience last night smash burger of Wantagh just lost a customer! read more
