My two boys (10 and 15) and I had lunch there today. We thought the burgers were great, and we especially liked the very friendly service. All employees that we encountered were smiling and helpful. We waited over 20 mins for 2 burger. There were about 4 orders ahead of us, every single one was wrong and was sent back. Dining in customers were unhappy with their orders. Employees were screaming at each other and pointing fingers. Burgers were good and ik restaurants get crazy busy (I've worked in it before) but it was just not handled well. read more

I can't speak for every smashburger, as I've had good experiences at other ones.. But the Wantagh smashburger leaves a LOT to be desired. Firstly, they have the most unprofessional staff I've ever seen. Granted, they are all 17 year olds.. But they have private conversations on the floor, I've seen them bum cigarettes off each other and yell into the kitchen that they are going out for a smoke. Every burger I get has a bottom bun that I could squeeze out and fill an entire cup with grease. Every order has something wrong or is missing something. I'd appreciate if they'd spend a little more time on customer service and less time on fraternization and inside jokes with each other. read more

I still cannot believe the experience we had at our local smashburger today. The one I am referring to is on Wantagh Avenue in Wantagh New York. This place should not be allowed to be in business. I arrived with my husband and 2 children ages 4 and 1. We waited online for over 15 minutes. Once the order was placed, we sat down and waited. Forty minutes passed. We saw people come and go. People going up to the counter and complain for one reason or another. I finally went up to a man managing the kitchen who told me that our order would be out soon. Ten minutes later and no food- entertaining the kids I went up to the same person and they told me that they don't have any record of my order. He wrote down what I ordered on a paper bag with a sharpie. It was still another 25 minutes before we got our order after that. After all that, it wasn't even correct. My husband's sandwich was smaller than what we had ordered, we were missing a side, and my son did not get his milk with his meal. On top of that my husband's burger was so burned it was almost inedible and the fries were a greasy soggy mess. After waiting for so long we couldn't wait to leave and the kids barely ate their food. We liked to come here for a healthier option of fast food and a fun place to go with the kids but but needless to say we will never go back. I can't believe we spent over $35 for food that we barely ate that was so bad and had to wait over an hour to get. It was absolutely awful. Seriously, you should shut the place down. Prior to this experience we have come many times. In the last three we are always missing something from our order or some of the food was not cooked properly. We normally take it to go so by the time we got home we wouldn't want to have to turn around to get it corrected. But this experience definitely was the worst so far. And this point shame on us for expecting anything different. We will never return again. read more

Very disappointing. We have eaten here when it first opened and it was great but it has seemed to have gone downhill from the last time I've been here. First this is a Sunday, and they have maybe 4 people working? One cook, one expeditor, one cashier and another guy I have no clue what he is doing. We ordered a bacon double with no tomatoes or onions, a create your own regular with tomato pickles mayo and ketchup and a bacon avocado burger. All three were burnt, the bacon double didn't have bacon on it, and have exactly what he didn't want on the burger and the patties were half the size of my regular patty. Mine only had tomatoes no ketchup no may no pickles. And the last had the tinniest little sliver that they called a slice of avocado. The burgers we're over salted and the fries didn't have a taste whatsoever. And I swear I heard the cook call the expeditor a bitch and ho. My husband says I'm wrong about that but idk. All together very dissatisfied and will not be coming back to this location ever again. read more

Well we called up at 5 pm to try and order for pickup. She put us on hold for 3 minutes. I hung up and called back five times and they were continually busy for 5 minutes. So we tried to order online but that wasnt working out either. In conclusion, I think they are really lousy because you cant order from them. They can keep their stinking burgers. Went there today with coupons which stated buy one entrée get the second one free - not only did they not honor their coupons but they gave us a raw turkey burger and a chicken sandwich which was burned to a crisp, both were inedible. After calling and complaining, went back and was still told that we were unable to use the coupons, because the coupon reads incorrectly. They deliberately oversalted all sandwiches. Been here before but tonight may have been our last visit. According to Yelp, this location closes at 10pm but an employee locked the doors at 8:52pm and turned away customers. This same employee walked around huffing and puffing about how shot he was from work and school and rolling his eyes at customers walking in. When we sat at our table, we noticed the ketchup containers were empty and so were about three others that we took from other tables. After waiting 15 min for our regular smash burgers (nothing special), they were cold. For a place full of employees who couldn't wait to kick everyone out, they let our burgers die at the window making it not worth the wait. We decided to leave when he started stacking chairs up around us. The only good thing about this place was an employee named Gabby. She was busting her ass trying to keep up cleaning tables and restocking. Such a shame, bad business. read more

The burgers are great. The smash tots are yummy. The smash fries were forgettable. The haystack onions were really good - along with the sauce they pack them with. The only thing is you have to wait a long time for your take-out order. I waited close to 1/2 hour for 2 burgers, an order or tots an order of fries and the haystack onions. read more

This place has potential but needs tons of work. Stopped in today 12/16/2017 for a hot dog fries and shake. My son loves this place but he is 5. The place was dirty, understaffed and mismanaged. Waited for almost 20 min for hot dog, fries, shake and a turkey burger. There was a spilled milkshake in the middle of the floor that sat there with paper towels over it for the entire time that I was in the store. Half of the tables had piles of garbage on them. There were papers and wrappers scattered on the floor throughout the store. The front counter where they prepare the shakes looked like a bomb hit it. There were used shake cups piled up with crusty food and shake remnants on them. There were crumbs and food all over the counter. The refrigerator under the front counter where the milk is stored did not appear to be working although they pulled gallons of milk from it. The door to the refrigerator remained open every time they went into it and was never fully closed due to the door possibly being broken and getting stuck on the cabinet that is next to it. There was a puddle of water under the refrigerator and by the area were staff stands at the register. The workers here look like they really don't want to be here and could really care less about what happens here. There was no manager or supervision on the floor. I ordered a burger for myself that looked like a disgusting mess when I got home. That burger went straight into the garbage can. I asked to speak to the manager who was cooking food in the kitchen. He caught an attitude with me when I expressed my concerns. He stated that he was short staffed and was doing his best. I stated that I was in the store last month during lunch time and had an almost similar experience. Another manager emerged from the back and walked to the front of the store with me. I showed him all the things that I was complaining about and he agreed that things needed to be cleaned up. Don't really know what the problem is here but I will never step foot into this place again. These workers need more training, supervision and maybe a bump in pay to get them a little motivated. Just visited the Wantagh location today, Friday, at about 5:40PM. I waited on line for about fifteen minutes, including ten minutes at the head of the line. They had one order taker at the counter, during the dinner hour on a Friday. That is unacceptable. There was a group of people at the counter who took a long time to order their food, and kept changing their order, while the line grew. With only one cashier, nothing moved. I finally got disgusted and left. I usually go this smashburger a couple of times per month, but if this is the way they are going to operate their business, I will go elsewhere. This establishment really deserves negative stars! Ordered on line. Got to store. One female employee taking a customer order. 3 other employees standing behind counter doing nothing. 1 employee walking back and forth doing nothing. 2 employees by packing area talking to each other. After multiply attempts to get someone's attention, the girl behind register gave me my order. Got home 2 out 5 burgers were wrong. Called and was told to come back. This place was great when they first opened, but has slid downhill quick. First, they hire workers with bad attitudes. Their main goal is to close up shop asap. We went there well over an hour before closing and couldn't get shakes because they had already stopped and cleaned the machines. Not fun when you're pregnant. Next, the tables are often dirty and the floors are always messy. Finally, we have resorted to to-go orders so we didn't have to hang around in there, but those orders were disgusting. However, there is never enough people working and usually has only 1 or 2 people running around the floor taking orders at the counter and delivering the food. Also, they have the managers working rather than employees, (cooking and delivering food to tables) or so they've said, which also relays an issue with the shortage of staff. Came here one Saturday night before a movie. The man behind the counter taking our order was not personable at all and rude. He was having a side conversation while taking our order. He had no clue what I said. I later learned that he was the manager. When we went to go look for seating, all of the tables were dirty and the floors were disgusting. There was food and napkins everywhere. The food came out fast. The order of fries we received bead so small. I've been to smash burger plenty of times and have never gotten only 20 fries in my order. It took almost 30 mins for us to get our milkshakes. We finished and our food and sat for a while just waiting for our milkshakes. They came out and gave us these huge mixing metal cups that they made the milkshake in. They said they were having trouble and run out of glass cups. If you run out of "to stay" cups why didn't you just put it in a to go cup? I was just overall disappointed and annoyed at this place. No one that worked here seemed to care or clean. Food is good but a little expensive. The service has gotten better. I received what looked to be a coupon in the mail with no expiration date. It showed double burger w/three cheese slices for $4 and other deals. I ask the cashier for the $4 cheeseburger to which he said "Oh that's not available anymore. That burger is $6.59." I said they should put a DATE on the coupon. Totally annoying...So I wound up spending $10 on a burger and brussel sprouts. It was pretty good. Again, a little expensive. Smashburger, you're my fav. Now I don't have to drive to "All American" in Massapequa. It's so cute and the staff is so cheerful. The line can get long, but the most I've ever waited on a weeknight during dinner hours is 10min and another 10min for the food. Filled out online survey and sent email to corporate office and asked that they contact me. Nope. Waited 8 days and called corporate, apologetic, said district manager would contact me. Nope again. Waited 11 more days, called corporate again, apologetic, said district manager would contact me. Nope again. Called credit card company and had charges removed. Not going back there.
