After years of coming to this office, I've come to realize that my dental anxiety was heavily influenced by the environment here. Unfortunately, my experiences with the staff were often negative, and at times they came across as dismissive and lacking empathy. When I expressed that I struggle with dental anxiety, I did not feel supported or reassured, which made visits more difficult than they needed to be. Patient care should include not just the procedure itself, but also how patients are treated emotionally. Since switching to another provider, my experience has been significantly more positive. I hope this office takes feedback like this into consideration and works toward improving patient care, would not recommend this dental office with the way their set up is at the moment. If 0 was an option- My daughter's appt was for today at 8:30am. While waiting, another patient along with my daughter and I jumped out of our seat because there were roaches in the reception area. They then called us in around 9:12am. We left the office at 9:20am. My daughter was referred to this office for treatment. We expected my daughter to be seen and get treatment for the cavities found from the other dental office but when I brought it up, they seemed to not know much about it. Long story short, we didn't get treated but scheduled for another day. They also do not go over pricing as other dental offices do, you need to ask so you won't be surprised. Upon checking out, I asked to obtain a copy of my daughter's X-rays. I had called over the phone for it a few days before and front desk said we just need to come in to fill out a medical release and we can get a copy on the day of. When I was there in person, they said it was not allowed. From what I know, we are entitled to see and obtain copies of our own records. Overall, we will not be coming back. read more

I came in for a routine exam for the first time. Then I was told I had some small cavities. I scheduled right away to take care of them. I was scheduled for two separate appointments. I came in for some adjustments as my bite was way off. During the last visit, the dentist broke another tooth she hadn't worked on and when I confronted her and explained I had a "hole" she handed me a referral paper to go to La Jolla Specialist and not once apologized. When I contacted this place they did not want to quote me unless I scheduled and appointment first? Then she said that tooth needed work anyways maybe a root canal? I went to another dentist my family referred me to for a second opinion as I did not trust her. He said I did not need a root canal but now I had to get a crown and pay $1,150 for her mistake which she didn't even own up to!! The worse place and dentist you can come to. Very bad experience with dentist and staff no one explains treatment plans with you and only one person manages the insurance billing portion which is the manager and only available specific days. They've tried to charge me not hundreds but thousands for treatment that they didn't run through my insurance. I had to call my insurance and ask if they cover specific treatments and give them actual codes teeth # etc.. things that the dentist staff should be doing. Very bad patient experience I would not recommend going. Also reporting them to Better Business Bureau as they tried charging me on two separate occasions for treatments covered or partially covered by my insurance. If I could give ZERO STARS I would. I've been to this office two times the first time they did X-rays and a short exam. I had a permanent retainer that needed to be removed so I asked for a referral as I'm new to the area and don't know any orthodontist here. I specifically asked the front desk if they knew for a fact the orthodontist they referred me to took my insurance- they said yes. Two weeks later I go to my appointment and they didn't take my insurance. My second visit was a cleaning scheduled for 3pm, they sat me down did only my bottom front four teeth and a brushing. Awful! All previous comments about 3 hour or more wait times are true. This business would not receive any stars, if Yelp would've allowed me. I'm writing this review on behalf of my mother who is 76 years old. Her first visit in June 2020, she received x-rays and cleaning. She waited almost 1.5 hours to be seen. Yesterday, she waited 3 hours just to be brought in to a room. During her wait she witnessed numerous patients come in to check in for their 9:00 am appointment. The same appointment time she had. The Smile Burst Dentistry office also checked-in walk-in patients? That was per my mom's observation. She also witnessed a couple who were new patients, completing forms, who also had an appointment at 9:00am. The problem: Overbooking. Once in a room, There she waited 30 minutes to have x-ray completed, in which she questioned why she needed another x-ray since she had x-rays completed in June of last year. However, we understand that it's a new insurance year, so the dental office may have wanted to get that x-ray in to ensure billing for the year. It's a business. Let's hope she doesn't get over-billed. My mother asked the assistant why the wait was so long and why so many people booked at 9:00am. She explained that the assistant said nothing, had no explanation or reasoning and pointed to the busy waiting room. As if she were to prove the reason for a 3 hour long wait was because of so many patients, yet she, the dentist and/or other staff were in charge of scheduling. (Hmmm...Interesting how that works.) Fact of the matter, no patient should ever have to spend 4-5 hours in a dental office for cleaning and annual check up. Simple answer, don't overbook. After her x-ray, she waited another 30 minutes to have her teeth cleaned and explained to me that the dentist was extremely rough while cleaning and didn't pay attention to her expressions of discomfort, she didn't ask if she felt okay and didn't listen to her sounds of pain. Bottom line: Smile Burst Dentistry proves to not care about their patients, patients are like cattle for them, waiting to be branded. It's pretty obvious every patient has a price tag and potential add-ons lead to higher payouts. I get it, they have a hustle. However, if you're trying to keep your hustle, try treating your patients with respect and the care they deserve. They charged me for my visit after literally filling a claim to my insurance with my insurance telling them i owed 0$ for my initial visit. My insurance assigned this dentistry to me, and to say it's unclean and unprofessional is an understatement. It is a small location and I didn't have to wait long so I'll give them that. I had an initial visit which consisted of x-rays and a "cleaning" towards the end of the visit they said they would write me down an orthodontist referral so I can go get an assessment for braces. They decide to tell me last minute that they don't take cards and that I needed cash which I didn't have on hand so I had to walk to find and ATM to give them the cash. When I got back they said they decided to mail me my referral instead of handing it to me which was a little annoying because I wanted to get set up with an ortho asap. It's now been a month with no referral. I've called them twice asking where it is, if it was sent and someone who sounds stoned off their ass picks up and takes 10 minutes to basically tell me it wasn't sent so they'd send another. Still not received. It's just all a bit unprofessional and the floors are covered it dirt as though people came in with muddy shoes and they just let it dry up. Also the x-ray bib was literally stained with neck sweat/ dirt that was placed on my bare skin. I looked up dental offices that took my insurance and stumbled upon this location. I couldn't complain much about the care that they did, but the unprofessionalism was outstanding. The first time I went to this dentist, I was uncomfortable because he was talking to me about the Caitlyn Jenner situation in a very non-politically correct way, calling Caitlyn an "it". I still scheduled a follow-up appointment while I was there to give him the benefit of a doubt. Prior to my first appointment, I received no calls or reminders. However, prior to my second visit, I received about five calls. One to schedule my appointment, I forgot that I scheduled one since they were calling me to schedule and happened to schedule a second appointment. They continued to keep calling me to the point of what felt like harassment. I still came to my appointment. The second time I came, they were very late taking me back for my appointment even though I was on time, and then after taking X-rays, they tried to get me to come back on another day for a simple cleaning. My teeth are not bad, so it was just annoying and unnecessary, especially since I have a busy schedule, so scheduling a second appointment for the same treatment sounded ridiculous. Someone ended up cleaning my teeth before I left. The only good part was that the entire staff was friendly to my daughter and didn't mind her being there while I got taken care of. I had avoided them for a while, but now I have finally switched providers and am much happier with the environment of my new dental office and my overall care. read more

I went to "Smile Burst Dentistry" / they wanted to pull out 3 of my teeth for a start & then put me on their "treatment program" but before they could do this they needed me to give them $500.00 "up front" for treatments my Medical & Medicare would not cover ( otherwise their "ethics" would not allow them to help me... ) My problem was that I only had Medicare & Medical & I could not find anywhere else to go & they knew this... Long story short, I was finally able to find a REAL DENTIST ( Eiad Haddad in Spring Valley CA ) who would take my state sponsored insurance / none of my teeth were removed / all of my problems were fixed / the people were kind & gentle in spite of the fact that I am paralyzed & in a wheelchair & thus very difficult to manage logistically / & I now have a better SMILE than I have ever had in my life... I took my husband here since this is the place my insurance assigned us to (June 2010), first of all my insurance calls them Spring Valley Dental Group, I find it interesting they go by two names. They told us my husband needed almost $11,000 dollars worth of dental work which was a lot of crap, I asked for x-rays that my insurance paid for and they told me I could only have them if I paid another $35.00 for them (when they are already paid for). I think the reason they wouldn't give them to me was, they asked my why I wanted them and I told them I have an aunt who is a dental assistant and she wanted to look at them. While I was waiting I noticed every child that came in was getting some type of oral surgery and all had silver teeth. I've never seen this at a dentist office. I became wary of them at that point, then to see how much they wanted to charge us, I was amazed. The staff is rude and treat you like they could care less if your there. If you want a pleasant time at a dentist or at least as pleasant as going to the dentist can be DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Trust the negative reviews. This Dentist office is very interesting. I've been a few times since choosing them as my dentist office earlier last year. Positive: 1) the TV is on while you're waiting for your appointment Negative: 1) one visit I had to beg for a oral treatment because the dentist didn't feel my oral concern was a big deal 2) It feels like everyone outside of the supervising dentist is in training 3) the supervising dentist doesn't listen to your concerns; he talks over you and draws conclusions about what you are ABOUT to say and is completely WRONG 4) you will wait for an unreasonable amount of time, and the excuse is usually a computer/system glitch 5) depending on the receptionist, your customer service experience will be very cold and short. 6)this spring valley location collects dust easily and no one appears to be taking the time to rectify that. The workers were very friendly and they even gave me a fidget spinner to play with while I waited haha. One of them told me I need to fix my cavities before I can get my oral tooth extracted from their referred oral surgeon and that the surgeon won't see me without my cavities being fixed, which was a lie. I talk to the surgeon they said that that's not true that most likely they just wanted to get as much money out of my insurance as they can so I go back to the office and I have to ask for amoxicillin because the dentist Dr. LA didn't prescribe me any. She just said go get some Advil and ibuprofen you'll be fine and then I asked for my x-rays and a copy of my intro oral photos and the other old lady in the front staff was charging me $55 saying they own them (meaning my medixal records) after calling my insurance I am on Denti cal and they're not supposed to be charging at all. I spoke with Denti cal through Medi-Cal, and they themselves said they were not supposed to be charging me when I then told the lady that they aren't supposed to be charging me she said "this is the policy. I've been doing this for 40 years I know more than you" but then again, the dental association said that that's not true and is malpractice. The site alone was horrible. The ceilings had mold and rest on them and holes throughout them. The floors had cracks everywhere and pieces of hair like they don't clean all the chairs you get into are weak the chair I got into the head of the chair fell off and they had to fix it while doing my exam. I would never recommend this place to anybody and they now are reported through the BBB as well as the Denti cal as well as the dental association, do not go here. Their staff is unprofessional lazy doesn't explain anything and especially rude and try overcharging you for things that they're not supposed to be charging you for they also said that one of my authorizations will take 68 weeks when I spoke with my insurance they said it only takes 2 to 4 weeks that they don't know why they said that again another malpractice, DONT DO IT!!!!!! read more

This is an extremely subpar dental office. Appointment times are a joke here; my 3 appointments in the last 7 days have had 2 hour wait times before being called in. Patient Privacy/HIPAA is not on their radar; there were medical records of another patient laying out on the exam room counter and the computer above the exam chair was logged in to show their full list of patient names and radiology records. Medical records and images are not shared between both locations, so there is high potential for double billing for xrays. Neither consulting dental provider seemed concerned with ongoing pain scale of child patient, just interested in passing the buck to refer for 2nd opinion within office, and to refer out to another provider. I will be calling my insurance carrier to complain about this office participating in my network, and to change my primary. read more

If you go for a "cleaning" they will not floss, they will not use dental tools to scrap tartar or plaque off your teeth, they will not use water floss, they will not check your gums for gingivitis and measure them like my old dentist from my other insurance when I was working. Poorly ran dental clinic. They are always running behind, by at least 45 minutes! You set an appointment but you will wait 45min to 1hr 15min depending on how busy they are. We have set an appointment at 9am one time, there were 4 of us scheduled for 9am but there's only one doctor! The clinic is dirty as well. Go find a better one. I wanted to give this dental clinic ZERO STAR but sadly, there is no option for that. If your insurance assigned you to this dental clinic, change it and NEVER GO HERE!! Before coming here I read all the bad reviews but we want to give it a shot and take the consequences maybe it's different with all patients, right? But NO as expected it is the WORST dental clinic that you're ever gonna go to!! Here are our experience to this office: First - it took us an hour to get called in and finally sit in the chair. Second - the old black lady was RUDE even to my 2 year old baby niece (how can you be mean to such a sweet innocent child?). She took my husbands x-ray and is very careless, she'll bump the equipment intentionally for more than 10 times to my husbands face without even saying sorry and she coudn't get a proper picture of the teeth so she keeps on deleting and retaking it. My husbands sits there just for an x-ray for more than 30 minutes because she coudn't get it right. Third - after the dentist finally check my husband they were telling him that he needs all of this treatment that will cost him out of pocket more than $8,000 eventhough we have a private insurance. After my husband said that he only wants to get whatever our insurance cover they told him that they are not doing anything to him so he wasted his time there just for the x-ray, no cleaning nothing at all!!! Fourth - after they told him that they are not doing anything to his teeth because he needs all of those out of pocket treatment before they can do the regular cleaning. They told my husband that they got him approved for CARE CREDIT, say what????? CARE CREDIT????? In the first place MY HUSBAND DID NOT FILL OUT ANY APPLICATION FORM NOR GAVE THEM ANY CONSENT TO RUN HIS CREDIT FOR CARE CREDIT. SO TO MAKE YOU SAY YES TO ALL OF THOSE UNNECESSARY TREATMENT THEY WILL AUTOMATICALLY RUN YOUR CREDIT FOR CARE CREDIT EVEN WITHOUT YOUR KNOWLEDGE!! So I called care credit right away and close the account!!! Please be aware of that if ever you want to take the consequences and go to this dental clinic. Fifth - as for my experience... After waiting for an hour to get called, I was seated for an x-ray, doctor checked my teeth and he said I'm good for just a cleaning so the assistant and the doctor started what they call "prophy" THEY DID NOT CLEAN MY TEETH PROPERLY!! I've been going to the dentist every 6 months so I know already how they do the proper cleaning. The dentist just did a little scrubbing on the teeth for I say 5 minutes and told the assistant to do the polishing. So that was it?? That's was the cleaning already??? I was in the chair within an hour after filling out my paperwork. X-rays done and broken filling replaced and I'm out by 11:30. They lack any kind of compassion. My child has cleft lip and palate. They have no clue regarding the condition, they continuously try to shove the x-ray tabs into his mouth even when he says it hurts. They clearly don't read medical histories. The service is subpar. Appointments run 1-2 hours behind. They make parents stay in the waiting room and they don't communicate with you regarding the child's check up. Just send them back to the waiting room. And now they have just skipped my third child. They have no idea how to work with a child on the autism spectrum. United Concordia needs to boot them asap. read more

The doctor was nice but seemed scared to say and do the right thing. Two white fillings were done on my daughter that cracked a month later. As far as I'm concerned they should have corrected their mistake without charge from the beginning. They gave me the run around every visit.
