In my experience, those expectations were not met. The lack of transparency has caused me to lose confidence in this practice. I called insurance and they verified that their approval was for 2 crowns. Seems the dentist lied to me and threw her employee under the bus. Ultimately she refused to perform the work at the approved rate even though she had signed a contract with my insurance company. After being awoken in my sleep to the throbbing pain in my jaw I decided to reach out to dental providers in the Vancouver area I started with two well-known dentists offices and was advised that unless I was ready to pull the tooth out myself due to pain they wouldn't be able to help me. Determined To get my pain under control I searched Google and Sunrise Dental of Vancouver populated. The receptionist answering the phone such a friendly voice and pleasant disposition she assured me that she would try to get me in to be seen as soon as possible and would let me know if there were any cancellations in the meantime. She called me this morning and advised they had a 9 AM cancellation. I arrived at about 845 to fill out paperwork at 9 AM was properly seated in the dental chair where my examination began. Their process for ensuring safety and and standardization is on point!! They were sanitizing frequently touched surfaces, there was hand sanitizer in each room, all appropriate PPE was worn, and yet it still did not feel like a standard business transaction. They made me feel comfortable and maintained their sense of humor . I was in and out with the first step of a root canal completed in an hour I know what you're thinking I thought it to root canals are so expensive how can I ever afford something like that during a worldwide crisis. They worked with me on payment to ensure this was taken care of. I'm driving home and for the first time in months I'm not in pain. I have found a dentist office that didn't treat me like a number or a nuisance. if you want to be treated with the upmost care and respect at a great price without feeling like someone's jerking you around or just trying to get all your money out of you... Today we went in for a cleaning and they wanted to do fillings, we agreed on doing that. Dr Carothers was not only very stern with my son but also not gentle at all. Without any warning he stuck a needle in his mouth and it was me who had to keep my son calm and explain what was happening. Never did he act compassionate nor understanding of my son's pain, he was mean and super rude blaming my son and myself for what he considered a not good dental procedure. Diagnosis of any kind or not, I don't think any child or adult likes a needle put in their mouth without any warning. He then left the dental room we were in and never came back, he instead asked his billing guy to tell us he wouldn't continue with the treatment and just left my son sitting in the chair. Again he is numb now and we are left with no options for treatment. We left the office with my son who could be tramatized because of this and they showed not a care in the world for his well being and mental state. I wound up switching from my Dentist (who was retiring) to Dr. Carothers after I witnessed all this. My friend had a perfect outcome and everything Dr. Carothers has fixed for me has been successful. I am so surprised to read any negative reviews of Dr. Carothers. I can only think that having dental work can be a (legitimately) emotional ordeal.
