My family and I have been patients at this practice for well over 20 years and have enjoyed wonderful care first under Dr. Alnaquib and then Dr. Voigt. 6 months ago I arrived for a routine cleaning and exam and was surprised by a brand new doctor (who appeared to be quite a bit past retirement age) - no phone call or email letting me know, which was unsettling; a dentist is a pretty intimate relationship and a heads up would have been respectful. The new doctor was so-so, and they also experienced hygienist and front desk turnover that was less than for the better. Both of my young adult daughters also commented on how off-putting their experiences were, but Oh well - we decided to give them a solid try. Fast forward to 6 months later and I arrive a few minutes early for my 8a appointment (after a text message an email and three annoying phone calls from them confirming and re-confirming my attendance), only to sit waiting for 15 minutes until I asked what was the delay. I was advised they were short-staffed and because I had to get to work, I rescheduled. Just yesterday I arrived for my reschedule, was left sitting for 10 minutes, then had my cleaning. After the cleaning the hygienist told me we were done and wished me well - no exam or check-in my a doctor. I asked why not, and was advised that their standard procedure was that the doctor didn't come in for an exam unless the patient requested it or the hygienist finds something concerning; this has NEVER been the procedure in 20 years of going every 6 months. At my mention of this concern she told me she could summon the doctor if I wanted, but by now I was over it. Overall, I am very disappointed by the downward slide of this practice and will be seeking a new care provider. I also don't think my insurance provider would appreciate the knowledge that despite them paying the provider for a routine exam and cleaning, this practice only really provides a cleaning unless the issue is pressed. I will be seeking a new dental provider moving forward. read more

Like some of the other reviewers, I had been coming to this office for several years to see Dr. Voight. I too was surprised to learn there was a new doctor when I went for my cleaning the last time. The hygienist was nice so I went for two visits under the new management. They seem to indicate to me that Dr Voight had done something wrong and that's why he wasn't there anymore. But it seems, in reality that this place is run by some sort of dental management company and it's a revolving door of doctors and hygienist. Needless to say the hygienist that I had liked was no longer there for my visit this week. My latest experience this week was the absolute worst. I went in and was told by one lady that she was the doctor and she checked my x-rays, the assistant just completed. Then they had two machines broken and almost had to reschedule and I was really frustrated because I couldn't get in there for a month, which I was surprised because the parking lot was completely empty and there were no other patients in the office. Well, the same lady who said she was the doctor said she was also going to do my scraping cleaning because the machine was down. While she did the cleaning, she put a piece of cotton in between my bottom teeth and my lip, where she proceeded to wipe the stuff that she scraped from my teeth onto it, right inside my mouth! I was mortified at the lack of hygiene. I asked her to stop doing that because it's disgusting and nobody has ever done that in my entire life going to Dentists. Between that and the broken equipment, I also thought she didn't know what she was doing After she was done, another woman polished my teeth, but she smeared the polish all over my teeth before she use the machine which I thought was very strange and again asked myself if these people knew what they were doing. I will not be going back to this practice I have no Faith in what they're doing and God forbid something actually went wrong or I had something serious to bring to a dentist, I would not trust these people. read more

Ok, let's cut to the chase - this office is inconsistent. My wife and I have been longtime patients going back to the original owner, Dr. Zana Alnaqib, and she and her staff were AMAZING. We were well taken care of, had on time appointments, and were treated like guests. We also had the same hygienist for years. Sadly, Dr. Zana sold the practice and enter Dr. Voigt. One by one we started seeing changes, subtle ones at first. The kiddo area wasn't maintained as often. There was less upkeep in the waiting room. And then there was the revolving door of new people at the receptionist desk. Fine, no big deal. But then we noticed that with each visit, there was seemingly 100% turnover in the staff; the only constant was Dr. Voigt- who, while nice, you only spent five minutes with - and the office manager you'd speak with when or if the subject of billing or insurance came up. This went on for a few years and each time I asked myself if I should go elsewhere because I like consistency and having new people every time was off-putting, as I'd never know who I'd get next. One time, the hygienist is great. Next, they're someone who clearly has a side gig at Helga's House of Pain. Next, nice person but fresh out of school and still learning the ropes - on me. And so on. But the office is close by so I stay. Then, today, I see the attached photo. Ta-da, new dentist! Kinda would have been nice to know that going in, right? I barely noticed because they'd done a half-assed job in scratching Dr. Voigt's name off the door. Now don't get me wrong, the new doctor seems nice and has a good disposition but again, I spent maybe five minutes with him, and then after x-rays by the assistant, I sat in the chair waiting for 15 minutes before the hygienist came in. After my cleaning was done, I was told the people up front would give me a free teeth whitening kit...if I'd go online and post a positive review. Um, ok - kinda icky. But I took the kit and posted. Right there, as they insisted on you doing it before leaving the office! And now I'm editing since I feel it's important to be clear on how things went. Now, I'm willing to give some grace, as my discussion with the staff led me to believe there was some office chaos over the past few years and it's now getting under control. Hopefully that's the case. And unlike past appointments, while I didn't get to schedule my next one, I received an email TELLING me when my next one was. On one hand I appreciate the attempt at added service, but I'd also have liked it if I'd been given the option to schedule myself. Will I go back? Yes. Just to see how things go next time around. But if the experience is not great, I'll likely be looking elsewhere. read more

We have been coming to Smiles by Design for several years now and I just can tell you how wonderful they are from everyone from the staff from the front door Maggie who is a wonderful office manager and greets you and goes over the treatment plan and cost, Laura the dental hygienist is excellent! My 19-year-old daughter was very worried about getting sealants and Laura was excellent explaining the whole process ,the reason behind getting it and how important it is and it was so easy and done so smoothly. I guess can't tell you how much they made my day!!! It was very affordable. Our insurance paid for some of it and what was out-of-pocket was very, very reasonable, we will continue coming back! My first experience with Dr. Voigt and his staff was precipitated by an old crown falling out. Even as a new patient, they got me in immediately and resolved the issue quickly. I was so pleased with their response to this issue that I scheduled a long overdo cleaning. As it had been awhile, circumstances called for a deep cleaning. The hygienist, Abriel, was the best; so gentle yet thorough. Even during the cleaning visit, Dr. Voigt came by to see how I was doing and welcome me back.
