We paused our dentist visits during COVID and I was personally very excited to get my teeth cleaned. That was before my husband went in. They found a cavity, which he had filled. He has been in pain ever since. They simply cannot seem to fix a simple cavity without causing excruciating pain, and then they simply say, "ok come back and we'll try something else." He's been there twice now and he's still in extreme pain. He had to have an EMERGENCY visit with another dentist today and they were so displeased with the work that was done at Smiles they basically demanded to redo it all. The "office manager" at this location compared this situation to getting a bad haircut and needing to find a new stylist. She actually compared a dentist causing you extreme pain to a stylist giving you a bad haircut. Now they're saying we have to wait until the end of the week to hear back from the corporate office. I'm not smiling. Fuck this place. You are better off literally anywhere else. Hell, you might be better off avoiding the dentist if this is your only option. My husband wasn't in any pain at all before he saw these people! Edit: They've now gone dark. I was promised a call back from a higher up, no call came. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR DENTAL HEALTH! Edit 2: Still no response from the decision maker I was promised. We are now hundreds of dollars out of pocket because of the incompetence of these people. You are better off virtually anywhere else. Edit 3: They're now telling us to talk to their attorney. They turned a simple procedure into thousands of dollars in costs that they are now dumping at our feet and telling us to talk to their hired malpractice defense firm. Very unprofessional staff and frankly shocked at the mismanagement of the office. I wasn't going to even write a review but after my husband being sent a bill for my visit I was told was covered under new patient special and it was okay I didn't need to make a co pay since there would be no charges. I found it extremely odd I never got a bill but I figured a scammer was calling my phone requesting payment for a visit I was told was part of the new patient special. I was late to my appointment and originally I had a cleaning on top of a xray and consult (manitory for intake). I got a insurance statement odd showing they charged for a visit I thought huh well that's odd and thought we'll probably charged for the cleaning by mistake and it will be sorted out by their admin. Nope near 7 months later my husband gets a bill, mind you they haven't sent me anything at all. The bill lists him as the patient and he has never stepped into that office. I never also signed any release saying it was okay for them to bill him nor did he sign any paperwork as the responsible party. So they billed to my insurance Xrays: $110.00, $82.50 my insurance paid, so leaving me with $27.50 than adding a Exam: $81.00, $60.75 was paid by my insurance, leaving me with $20.25 for this service. Totaling Your Total: $47.75 for a supposedly free visit :| Now 50.00 isn't something unheard of for out of pocket, it's the principle of their billing. And obviously they should of let me make my co-pay like I had said I had and should of been 20.00. I should note when I made the appointment that I was under the impression they didn't take my insurance and was paying without it the receptionist asked to see my insurance card and she oh my dad has me on his insurance and I have the same and I go here we take your insurance and oh great and said I will copy this into your chart for the future cleaning. Little did I know the "free" visit would now longer apply. So if you like your privacy and don't like underhanded and incompetent billing practices stay away. You have been warned. read more

I'll give them two stars for the very friendly Front office staff. They are really nice but this place try's to charge you for things that aren't really wrong. I have been going to smiles for almost 8 years. High dentist turn over rate. I had a crown down here that crumbled and assistant told me the dr that did it was there before was nice but maybe not the best doctor. Out of their own mouth. Charged me for a new crown too. I had a bad feeling about it all I went in anyways to see the new dentist and she said I needed a crown and had a cavity. This was 6 months ago...so today I go to my new dentist and he said I don't need either of those things. Saved me almost 1,000$! I might need another new crown because the SECOND crown smiles did leaves a huge gap for food to get stuck. Save your money go somewhere else!!!i know it's hard because the office staff is soooo friendly, makes it all seem trustworthy but sadly that's not the case read more

Just recently started going here for our dental needs because our insurance changed. Me and my husband both are not fond of the dentist. Who really loves getting their teeth drilled on? Not us! As an adult having had many dentist, not so great experiences and the tactics back in the day were not so customer friendly....we were apprehensive about finding a new dentist. They were polite to me as I walked in the door. Check in is easy. The cleaning was fine and they talk with you about everything they are doing as well as chat and get to know you. I felt comfortable and not judged about ask the dental work I have had done in the past. They just did their job. Their job is to care for my teeth, clean them, and address what to do next. The billing part is easy... no hassles... Bill me after insurance has paid. The next few times I went in to get old metal cavities replaced was a good experience actually. I never felt the needle and the doctor was gental and confident. You can't get away from those farm drills though. They listened to what I wanted, cared for my well being and made, what is one of the worst experiences, not too scary at all. Thank goodness times have changed in the dental field and they actually don't want us to feel pain! read more

A long read, but could be worth it. I have been in the dental field for over a decade as a surgical dental assistant for background. My first appointment went well, I was able to get a comp. exam, X-rays and a cleaning. I was told I had several cavities, and was told they were small so small we couldn't see them on X-rays. I was also told I needed two crowns and buildups-the reasoning I have large fillings. Those fillings will need to be crowned ONCE they have failed, not just because. The dentist was very persistent on getting these crowns done, I said they are not a problem right now to which the dentist said 'fix it now so there won't be an issue later'. They are not an issue now, so no need to fix. These fillings could last me years or days, but I am unwilling to fix something that's not broken. I was able to schedule to have all five fillings filled the next day (90% of dentists do not have these kinds of openings, I should've known better) This is where I had my opinion completely change. When I showed up for my filling appointment I paid $200+ after my insurance kicked in. I was told the appointment would be about an hour because of how many fillings, no biggie. I was taken back to the op by the assistant and she never explained what we would be doing, there was actually a lot of silence. Even though I am a dental assistant working on people from the dental field I always explained everything unless they said I didn't need too. The dentist was lingering as the assistant was as trying to hurry up and get ready/settled. You could tell this assistant and dentist have not worked together for very long. The dentist was aggressive with the hand-piece and I ended up needing to get numbed and told this filling would need crowned-shocker!! The dentist kept mentioning 'dark spots' on all my teeth during the fillings, ok? Three fillings were finished and I was told I was done and walked to the front, the management then went in the back and I am assuming corrected the assistant/dentist and I was brought back to finish the other two. Once I was brought back into the op to finish the dentist then tells me this is a 'rental assistant' and 'she is at fault' and it wasn't just one negative comment, it was several in front of the assistant. The dentist then remembered I mentioned I was an assistant during my first appointment and then proceeded to tell me I 'needed to work' there. I needed 'to find childcare for my children' and 'go use my degree and not let it go to waste'. Again, this went on for several minutes and I know the assistant was more than uncomfortable-I know I was. The dentist even stopped another employee in the hall saying I would work there, and the employee (verbally they were uncomfortable) says 'oh well if she wants to' and the dentist again kept going on and on. My whole entire filling appointment from start to finish was 37 minutes..37 minutes for 5 composite occlusal fillings WITH anesthetic. Anyone who knows dentistry knows this is not ok nor safe. My fillings were extremely high and my mouth was sore for days. I opted to not go back to have my fillings fixed and went to another dentist. A week later I received a bill from Smiles and it's for another $200+. I called and asked why because I had paid this exact amount, and this must be an error. The front desk tells me they were off with their estimate-YOU THINK. . I have never ever in my life had such a horrible experience. I would give a zero star if I could. read more

Oh my gosh you guys! I love this dental office. They are offering a new patient promotion for $101 you get a cleaning, X-rays, and an exam. They did a horrible cleaning and fillings to my disable brother.The front desk person is really friendly but the workers who do the cleanings and fillings, like to cut corners. I took my brother there regularly for cleaning and fillings and for about three years and paid cash all the time. Then, the last time I took him, they said that he will need dentures. I woke up on a Friday with a terrible toothache which I suspected would result in a root canal. I called Smiles dental in Ridgefield and they were closed on Friday but left an emergency number. I texted the dentist (Ken Killpack) and asked for help. He responded that his office was closed on Friday but he would still see me. One hour later I was sitting in the dental chair being examined. Sure enough I needed a root canal and he had help come in and accomplished the procedure. Wow!!! to say the least I was impressed and will forever be grateful that he saved me a weekend of pain and suffering. His dental assistant and office help are the best too.
