Their "Beat Anyone's Advertised Price" Guarantee Is Full of Loopholes…read more I contacted Sit 'n Sleep about purchasing a queen-size Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress. Sit 'n Sleep repeatedly advertises that they will beat anyone's advertised price or your mattress is free. That sounds like a straightforward promise, and it was one of the main reasons I gave them the opportunity to earn my business. I presented two substantially lower advertised prices for the same mattress. Best Buy Furniture listed the queen Nectar Premier Hybrid for $929, with an additional 5% discount using code BESTBUY5, bringing the price down to approximately $882.55 before tax. Best Buy Furniture also identifies itself as an authorized Nectar retailer. I then found an even lower advertisement from Mattress Store San Diego for a queen Nectar Premier Hybrid at $788. The listing identified the mattress by name, size and hybrid construction and stated that it was available for local San Diego delivery. As soon as the Sit 'n Sleep representative heard the $788 price, they quickly refused to match it. I was told that the competitor was outside their "approved dealer" list. There seemed to be no serious attempt to verify whether the mattress was new, in stock or otherwise identical. The advertised price was apparently disqualified simply because Sit 'n Sleep did not consider the retailer an approved competitor. That is a major restriction that isn't emphasized nearly as prominently as the company's bold promise. "We'll beat anyone's advertised price" apparently doesn't mean anyone it means only the selected retailers, locations and advertisements that Sit 'n Sleep chooses to recognize. If the company can exclude a competitor whenever the price is too difficult to beat, the guarantee offers customers very little meaningful protection. I understand reasonable requirements, such as confirming the same model, size, condition and availability. However, if the guarantee only applies to certain authorized competitors, geographic areas, warranty arrangements or other undisclosed conditions, Sit 'n Sleep should state those restrictions just as clearly and prominently as "beat anyone's advertised price or your mattress is free." I was ready to purchase this mattress from Sit 'n Sleep if they honored the promise used to advertise their business. Instead, the experience made the guarantee feel like a marketing slogan filled with convenient loopholes. Customers should ask for every condition in writing before believing or relying on this advertisement. I left disappointed and with considerably less trust in the company.
