Smita's Boutique (the clothing side) may not seem large, but her ability to deliver what we needed was amazing. The service from Smita and her staff was personalized and on point. My husband has a mobility disorder and getting a traditional kurta over his head is incredibly difficult. Smita noticed this and suggested custom making his kurta with buttons all the way down. We were able to select the fabric, the length, and accommodate his mobility. The 3 kurta sets that arrived were spectacular and better quality that what I was finding online for the same price. Worst place in the world. They have the worst manners, very rude, very unorganized. I asked for a specific person to do my eyebrows and they wouldn't take me and made me wait for 45 minutes. And when I did wait, they let other people go infront me that didn't even appointments and when it was finally my turn, they turned me away and said oh she's busy now, wait for another half hour. read more

I went to get my eyebrows threaded with Smita. I hadn't gone to see her in many months since I wanted to grow my eyebrows out a bit. Prior to threading, I explained and showed Smita that I didn't want any extra eyebrow hair removed and just a clean up. She removed way more off on one eyebrow and now it looks terrible and completely uneven. I showed it to her which she outright denied taking off extra hair. Then I showed her a recent photo of my face and then she tells me to use olive oil to grow out my eyebrow. No apologies or owning up to her mistake. I even paid her for a terrible eyebrow threading. I went to this shop to get sarees. Perhaps it is the owner who helped me herself but I feel that she was very patient with me and showed me very beautiful pieces with varied pricing. I am using them as a Saharian (Sahelian) Melhfe dress because it is about the same length and width as what I would typically get. I am not Indian but I was treated with professionalism and care. Yup- went here after deciding the mall threading place kept making my face breakout. Nice place here! Smita (?)was very personable (and may I add smiled when I had told her I had come in due to her Yelp reviews) Her husband (?) at the desk was funny and nice to talk to as well. Make no mistake that this place is set up for Indian locals-but non Indians will enjoy the great eyebrow threading and cool Indian vibe. You do just need to wait until she is ready as well- (which I am totally OK with) so if you need to keep that in mind- I didnt see anyone else who did the threading but not sure if there is a 2nd person when it gets busy. I gave one blouse for alteration and she said it will take 2 days maximum and after a week I called to ask if is it done or no. She said its done pick it up tomorrow and when I went there she started to argue with me and between 3 peoples in front of everyone she was yelling at me to come tomorrow. I like Smita's boutique for many reasons. I have been getting my eyebrows threaded from her for the last 15 years or so. Waxing no matter where I go or what they use has always left me with breakouts. So I found threading to be the best solution for me. $8 for the service. She always has a line which tells you it's the place to be. They also sell jewelry. Pretty, sparkly, costume, colorful and fun Oh and inexpensive! I get lots of compliments whenever I wear the jewelry I have purchased there. They have just expanded and remodeled. It has a good feel to it when you walk in. Plenty of parking. read more

I've been here a few times and never had a good experience. I thought I'd give them a few tries, go to a couple different people to get my eyebrow threading done, but it has always been a very unprofessional experience. Firstly, the wait is long. No one ever seems to enjoy seeing customers. I always feel that they are in a bad mood. In regards to the threading, I felt that Smita took way too much hair off one of my eyebrows. This was despite me requesting that they only be cleaned. She agreed that I needed to grow one side out and wouldn't touch it but it was completely off. During threading sessions she (or anyone else I've had service from) will always talk on the phone, or to others, in the middle of threading! Completely unprofessional! The pricing, however, is decent especially if you are a loyalty member. If you sign up with your phone number you can get 10% off coupons. i've been going to Smitas Boutique for well over 4 years now and it's fair to say i will NEVER go anywhere else to get my eyebrows threaded. Smita, the woman who owns the boutique, is such a doll!! She creates such a warm friendly and welcoming environment for everyone and she is a MAGICIAN with the thread. Not once have i left here (and we're talking once a month so i've definitely had at least 50+ experiences) disappointed. She knows what's she's doing and does it so clean. I love the way my eyebrows look when i leave here! I've had some of the other employees do my eye brows from time to time when she isn't around and they're just as good, again , never disappoints! The boutique offers so many other services from hair all the way down to traditional Indian jewelry, clothes, and they also do amazing henna work there as well. There are very few places to have a true Indian facial in the Boston area. And many places are just not sanitary/clean enough for me, especially during a pandemic. It has been a life saver to drive to Burlington and have a nice facial. People have asked if I am getting Botox, when actually it is just the effect of a good facial. First of all, what business answers the phone and says "Hello?" instead of their business name? I had to ask if I had called the right number. The lady on the other end was rude! I wanted to ask how long it takes to get an Indian outfit altered and she said it takes 10 days, that is, if they are even willing to accept the service. Other places I called said 2-3 days so I wasn't sure what would take this boutique so long until I remembered a conversation they were having while I was getting my brows done. They send alterations out to a different tailor and have them take care of the service. At one point, they had lost a customer's outfit and were panicking. Also, don't even bother making an appointment with them. They have no regard for anyone's time and will take you in at their own convenience. Smita is the only person who knows how to do eyebrows. Everyone else is pretty useless, especially the lady at the front desk. She is supposed to be there to "greet" people.. but she is rude and has a RBF that makes customers run out the door. I had been going to Smita's for about 6 years. I've stopped because I've become incredibly annoyed with her appointment system. I've had appointments in the past where I still had to wait and people would walk in after me and get to go ahead of me. After all that, I just started calling them about 10 mins before I planned to stop by around 3pm so I could catch them at an unbusy time so I could ask how long the wait is. So that worked for me for a bit. I'd show up and be taken in w/i 5 mins. But then one day, I made an appt about 45 mins in advance. I show up and there's several people in front of me. I'm told by the receptionist that Smita had to do a facial so I would have to wait. I was annoyed and told her that why would they accept my appt then? She said "I don't know, but you can talk to her." I proceeded to the next room and asked Smita if she could just do my upper lip (that takes her literally 2 mins) and she said no because she had a facial to do. I said "Why did you take my appointment then?" She had no answer so I walked out and have never gone back since. I go to the mall now where the service is exceptionally good and is worth the extra money. Read my review if you'd like about it. Also, Smita tends to not listen when you tell her to not make your eyebrows any thinner or shorter. read more

At 12:50PM, I was eventually ushered into a creepy, unclean room, by a very rude lady. I laid there for 10 minutes SCANTILY CLAD. At this point, half of my lunch break was destroyed. I have been doing my eyebrows for ages (thanks to my thick indian eyebrows )and all the females who do my eyebrows listen to their customers ... in spite of telling her I want thick eyebrows she made my eyebrows so thin.She kept on talking while she was doing my eyebrows... i was so scared she was going to spit on me ... she pulled my hair and it hurt .... it never hurts ..smitha managed to do so ... and plus later on I got boils on parts of my face where she had threaded.. i think she is using a very cheap thread which she puts in her mouth and does not change for ages.... very unhygienic she did not do a good job .. the place is not clean and is very loud ,dingy ..Very long waiting lines I go to burlington mall where it is worth paying for hygiene and good eyebrows... read more

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I almost never make my way out that way but I had an emergency and decided to stop by. The store is dirty, loud and completely disorganized. The other woman working with Smita worked on my eyebrows and SHE WOULD NOT STOP TALKING. My eyebrows weren't even cleaned up right, and didn't even look the way they used to before the threading. And at one point I had 3 women looking down at me like I was being operated on. The lectures were long and boring and highly useless and only ended up making my appointment longer than it needed to be. I had to leave with semi-cleaned eyebrows that later got itchy and red because of the cheap threads used at the store. The only upside is the price ($8) which is much better than anywhere else, but honestly it isn't worth the trip. read more

Sometimes good sometimes bad. It's completely disorganized. Smita will do your eyebrows, quick put some henna on a customer and then yell to the front desk woman, all while threading. I agree, she does them too thin, and it is not clean. It is the cheapest gig in town and you do get what you pay for. I go there on occasion and suck up the waiting to the cheap $8 eyebrow threading. I have a love/hate relationship with this place. I continually go here because they do excellent threading and it is cheap, $6.00 for your eyebrows, similar to the walk-ins in Edison, NJ or Jackson Hts. However, I always leave here annoyed b/c even when you make an appointment, you have to wait, today wasn't so bad at 30 minutes but when you are on a tight schedule you may want to reconsider. Also, there are only 2 threaders and and in addition to appt's they take walk-ins and the walk-ins or friends of owners sometimes get to jump the queue. (I think this happens more b/c it can get crowded and they don't have a good tracking system for who is up next) Keep in mind they do an amazing job but this place is where Indians go for beauty services and does not operate like a typical American salon. It is very noisy and your treatment will get interrupted by your beautician leaving to answer the phone or whatever. But if you can stand it you will end up with nicely shaped brows for cheap. read more

I came here looking for a bridal lehenga for my wedding reception and the person in charge said the bridal dresses were in the back and she needed to know my budget before showing me anything. I said that budget was not an issue and I just needed to see the dresses. She asked someone else to bring two specific dresses out -which I now believe she asked them to bring out the ugliest ones they had- she would not tell me the price and just continued to ask about my budget. She then got on the phone to "ask the manager what the price should be". Beware of their dishonesty, they wanted to charge me more just because I am not Indian. read more

The shop area has some cute jewelry, but the real reason I came was to get my eyebrows threaded. I really wanted to like this place because it's local and so close, but I just couldn't. My brows came out slightly too thin which for me is not good because I have thin brows to start out with. The threading lady doesn't consult you before jumping in. She spoke with me afterwards saying if I wanted a higher arch, she could take out a bit underneath. Ironically, she said this wouldn't work because then my brows would be too thin. For someone with naturally thin brows, it would be smart to go somewhere where they have experience not to take any away from the under starting points of brows. I liked the way Smita did my eyebrows. This place is very reasonable also but they are very casual. Had they been more professional I would have given then 5 star. I went there for my eyebrow threading and upper lip threading. She kept talking while doing my eyebrow and upper lip over my face, I could smell her breath. I was a bit disgusted. She also stopped in between to talk to her other fellow mates and kept me waiting , i wonder why she works like this . She could have done that after completing my job. I would rather go to burlington mall , they are a bit expensive but more professional. Still, as per my opinion , this is an average place. They have a nice collection of clothes . I go to Smita's every 2 weeks for eyebrow threading. For the price ($8) and location (plenty of parking close to the salon), I don't mind going more often than I did when I waxed. My eyebrows come out great every time. Smita has been the only person to actually get shape out of my eyebrow. Her staff is accommodating. I typically go on my lunch break and they do everything they can to minimize my wait time so that I can get back to work. I recommend calling ahead and making an appointment. I have been here once & plan on going back. $8 bucks gets you nicely done brows. I'm no stranger to threading but I am always looking to save a few bucks. This is a no frills place. But they are very nice. I also saw the girl hold the thread with her mouth & got scared from the other review but I must say I have sensitive skin and I had no reaction. I actually have been getting scabs and redness from the mall one threading place. I had none of that and this lasted much longer too. I just clean it up a bit & it's been over 3 weeks. But I do need to go back. Went back and love this place more. The girl knows what she's doing! No redness. Great shape to the brow. I even now got my card to get my 9th threading free. It's right across from Burlington high school. I wrote the 1st review about 1 year ago and I love this place. 1 star off because they tend even with appontment skip over you if your not like them (cough cough) I wasted about 20 mins once with appointment and clearly the people who came in after me did not but go told to go in, I was getting very annoyed and said I would have to come back I have to pick up my child thats why I made a appointment. An honest review from a repeat customer. I've been going to Smita's for 3-4 years. Yes, I've had my share of less than stellar customer service. Today I walked out and will never go back. Although I would prefer not to mention this fact, I do feel it made a difference in that I was the only non-Indian woman in the store. Today was the second experience I've had where I've literally had to argue for my place in line-literally. I called yesterday for a 1 pm appointment. I showed up at about 2 minutes until 1 pm. One other woman was in the store clothes shopping - and then I barely overheard the conversation but heard one of the employees of the boutique ASKED her if she wanted her eyebrows done. She went in before me. OK - logistics. I let it go. After waiting for about 15 minutes, a woman with her young daughter and another woman walked in as I waited (I overheard her noting she had NOT made an appointment). The woman had to get to her daughters skating lesson and kept pacing back and forth in the store claiming that she would go 'next' - yes, despite the fact I was there when I walked in. Before I knew it, one of the two customers getting their service got up and this woman who walked in well after me sat down and began having her eyebrows done. Wow. Blatantly stepped in front of me in line - I looked at one of the women working there and said - I was here? She said, "you can go in and wait". Are you kidding? I walked out of the store. Seeing that I had gone there for years, I had built up a high tolerance for the lack of formal process for an appointment and waiting 20-30 minutes to get my eyebrows done. It was worth it because my eyebrows always looked good and it was VERY inexpensive. Now, I will pay double for the same service than I did here but hopefully get the customer service I deserve. I feel bad to have to leave this review but not only was a blatantly disrespected today - I really felt like I had experience racism at it's worst! read more

I went here to buy my first saree. The sales lady was very helpful. She explained all of the parts of the saree and helped me narrow down my search to items in my price range. I chose a beautiful teal saree and she found a gold blouse and a matching teal petticoat. The whole outfit came in well under budget. My advice to first time saree wearers is to have her show you how to tie it. When I got home, I watched a few youtube videos. It's a lot trickier than I imagined. read more

I'm one of those people who shows up without an appointment and only has to wait 15-20 minutes. Ha! I've had my eyebrows threaded at 4 different places and I like Smita the best. She has the best prices ($8 last time I went, up from what it was before), is ridiculously fast, and very precise. She was able to carry on a conversation with another patron while threading my eyebrows and I didn't worry at all because I knew she'd still be able to do a great job. That's how much I trust her. Pros: -Probably the best price in the Boston area. -Fast service- threading doesn't take very long -Everyone was very accommodating, especially since I was coming from out of town -Smita also has another person who does threading but she's not always there. Thankfully she's pretty good, too. -No judgment- at other places people will suggest what other services I should get. As if I'm not self-conscious enough already! Cons: -There's usually a wait, so I wouldn't go if you only have a couple minutes. She does other beauty services, too, and she'll fit in whatever she can between/during services. -They had Indian music playing on a loop, which would have been fine in general but it wasn't whole songs, just clips of songs.
