I brought an expensive Swiss watch in as my local jeweler recommended them for repairs. Simple repair, some moisture inside the crystal. Got it back and the moisture was still there. The JewLeroy store repair man and owner was now away on vacation so his son said he could do it as it was a simple job. 3 of the 4 screws in back are now mangled, the 4th was broken. Worst yet they glued the back in place, not good. I only found out as the stem was coming out (due to the glue getting into places it should not be), the watch was left no longer waterproof. I brought this to Hero watch repair in Easthampton who is fixing these mistakes (and while not cheap very fair as Avery is very fair and guarantees his work). I did not bother to go back to Smith as they screwed the watch up twice and I won't bet on a third time and I bet they would deny any wrongdoing. This may be a fine shop to buy jewelery but not for repairs on good stuff. Be careful as your local shop may send your repairs to them without your knowledge. read more

Tom was knowledgeable, professional, courteous, and friendly. He carefully explained what he would do to repair my ring. He also took the time to demonstrate how certain repair equipment worked and the process used to clean my rings that I was wearing. My ring was ready for pick-up in less time than anticipated. My wife and I will be renewing our vows and went into Smith & Son for new rings. The variety of rings for me to choose from was almost overwhelming. They had many different styles made from every material imaginable. There were also some estate items, one of which I bought mostly because "I had to have it." The owner was very helpful to me in my attempt to narrow down the four I liked to the 'one'. I'm sure he'd done that a few times before. We ended up buying 3 rings that visit and he gave us a bit of a price break because of it. I was very happy as stingy as I am. I agree with Alissa regarding their customer service. Our kids were with us and everyone behind the counter interacted with them. Frankly they kind of played with them, quizzing them about gemstones and showing them cool stuff they'd never seen before. When the owner took the estate ring in the back to be cleaned he happily took my (crappy) bracelet I didn't buy there and tightened up the clasp for me. Consider me a customer for life. read more

Regarding customer service, Smith & Son is fabulous. I've been in for everything from minor watchband repair and battery replacement to custom diamond necklace settings. They are professional, polite and prompt. They'll provide estimates when you drop off and call you when it's complete (or with updates). They've fixed watches and resized rings within a day and tracked down a missing/matching pearl within a few days. My family has been going here for ages. I went to this place thinking they were open until 7:00pm but that's only on Thursday's. I got there 5:29 one minute before closing. A nicer more accommodating place cannot be found I am sure. Finding a good jeweler is as hard as finding a good mechanic but Smith & Son makes it easy to trust who you are going to. They reset some Yogo Sapphire earrings for me in 14kt gold after the sterling silver settings they came with started irritating my ears. The new settings are absolutely stunning, same design as the original but better, and they honored my request to extend the posts. They are so comfortable now. It was a fair price to have them redone and the quality of the backs they gave me is amazing. They've also changed watch batteries for me, fixed a broken bracelet for me and reset prongs on stones and the prices are extremely reasonable. I can't speak highly enough of this jeweler and the staff is all phenomenal. They are really a standout jeweler, they are always busy when I go in and you can see why.
