I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Smith Family Tire. After a March oil change and tire rotation, I discovered that the lug nuts on all four wheels were loose after driving less than 210 miles--a serious safety issue. On top of that, grease was left on my driver's seat, and despite having an appointment made two days in advance, the service took nearly two hours for a routine oil change and tire rotation. I wanted to write a review for Smith Family Tire because they treated me like gold yesterday. I called them about an issue with my brakes and they were able to schedule an appointment just a couple of hours later. I'd already called several other automative shops that were closer to my home and all of them were booked out for days to weeks. That was concerning because I needed something right away so that I drive my car safely. I had been to Smith before and was treated well in the past, so I suspected that I would receive excellent service once again. After explaining my issues to them, they said they didn't want me driving unsafely, so it appeared that they made me a priority. THAT was the first amazing piece to my experience. I took the car in and they determined what was going on with the back end, and also pointed out that I had an issue on the front end of the car. As it turned out, I needed new rotors and pads on the front end, which was a bit of a shock, but that's how life unfolds sometimes. There was also more of an issue on the back end that was unexpected as well. Smith discovered that a part that was supposed to be installed to help the pads stay on straight was actually never installed by the previous automotive shop. It was good to know, but disappointing to say the least, as I had trusted that shop over the years to do good work. Not anymore...I will never know if this was intentional or an oversight, but I'm sure that it caused the rear pads to have less longevity. Regarding the rear end, Smith said that they could straighten the rotors out for me which sounded like the right thing to do in that moment, so I went with it. They worked as fast as they could and I was out of their shop 2-3 hours later. When I went to leave, I heard a new noise, so I went back in to let them know. Long story short it had nothing to do with their work, it was related to a metal part on my spare tire that had come loose. After two attempts to determine what was causing it, the mystery was solved, and I was able to get back on the road safe and sound. A year ago I would probably given them a 5 star rating. But my latest interaction with them made me change my mind. I brought in my truck as the passenger side A/C was blowing cold and the driver's side was blowing hot. I brought it in for a Thursday appointment. By 3pm I had not heard their diagnosis. I called and was told I needed a new blender which would cost $900 all in. I approved the fix. I went back on Tuesday to pick up the truck but was told the fix was not working. I told them to just put back the old part and I would take it to someone else. I called on Wed to see when I could pick up. They never responded until after they were closed when they texted me. They said it was fixed and I could get it. I went back the next day, paid and drove the car home. It was not fixed. The car blew cold for 20 secs on the driver side and then blew hot again. I texted the owner's wife and she apologized. She said the mechanic would call to see what could be done. Never heard from the mechanic. So now I am out the money with a bad A/C. I would advise that mechanical repairs are not their thing. read more

The parking lot is always full, and their waiting room was filled with satisfied customers. We had a very a pleasant experience early this morning, did our North Carolina vehicle inspection very affordably, convenient and quick, 30 minutes! The office has a nice bathroom that offers a selection of hand soaps. Returned in October to have our fuel injection cleaned and serviced, again very affordable and fast service! Our vehicle would not start at all yesterday and we left the service center spending only $245. read more

The list is long of problems i experienced. Damaged my classic car, talked me into installing a fuel injection system, promising it would make the car trouble free. SUSPECT? he put a used faulty unit on, as he would never provide the invoice. The car never ran right, had to spend a lot of money reversing the system. Wrecked my car, lost or stole parts, Who "throws away" a 1967 camaro gas tank in perfect condition? Wore out a brand new starter and flex plate while trying to get the car to run. Switch key flopping around, I just took it in to get the brakes adjusted, and had to take it back for that to get corrected. Kept the car 2 years, promised and promised he would get it done. Told me one price, but it just stupid the stuff this guy did to my car. My daddy told me when i was a young boy, when a man brings the Lord into a business deal, you should hang on to your billfold and walk away. I was going through an illness at the time, and obvious used the worst judgement of my life on this business deal. Really did not want to put this review up, but it might help somebody from getting ripped off. Like one of the other reviews on here, I'd give him a negative 10 if that was available. read more

I would give negative zero stars if that were an option. Has crashed our car once, lost our keys twice with no apologies. They work on your car when they feel like it and give no real estimate for when anything will be finished and have horrible attitudes. On top of that nothing is ever really fixed, just temporarily appears to be fine until the next time. Smith "family" tire serves a little more false expectations than automotive care for my taste. Update: they left a bag of their own garbage (food, drinks, gross wet stuff) in the back of the car when it was returned to us. Great. read more

Mike & his Staff are very knowledgeable and do their BEST to get what you want or need repaired. I've been a customer of theirs for about (20) years and rarely go anywhere else when I need tires or repairs. They are honest people and courteous to their customers. There are few places you can go and totally trust what they tell you. I have found that this is one of those places. I originally came here based off of several recommendations I received from friends. I am glad I did. If you want the cheapest place with the cheapest tire then go to the discount place but what you get here is valuable and that is expertise. I had been told at Discount Tire in town that I had 4 warped wheels and I needed to replace all of them and the tires as well. I got their best price and then came over to Smith Tire. Mike (owner) worked with me on the pricing and said before he did anything he would want to first see if I needed everything the other place said I did. He called me back several hours later to tell me I had only one wheel that needed replacing and only 2 tires. Not the 4 wheel and 4 tire replacement Discount Tire said. They saved me alot of money and were honest while doing it. I will keep coming here for everything!!! read more

Failed my inspection do to a catalytic converter. I had it fixed that week and returned for the re-inspection THEN they failed me again because of my tires (which didn't come up the first time). They wanted $200 for 2 new tires to pass. I was livid. Totally felt like I was being taken advantage of! I left took it to firestone. I passed inspection 1st time...so, I gave them my business for 2 new tires! Treat me right I'll give you my business. Firestone earned my business. I will never return to Smith's. read more

Reasonable rates and competent. They shopped for me to find the lowest price on parts. Nathan diagnosed an intermittent problem and corrected the engine light on with a MASS air sensor and an oxygen sensor on an older 325 i BMW. Very satisfied with the service, honest.
