Stopped by this terrific nursery as we were visiting the Watsonville area. The location feels a…read morebit random as the street feels rather residential so don't be thrown off when you're mapping your way over. Parking is basically on their dirt driveway. It's a good sized nursery with a hole in the wall rustic feel. There are lots of plants and succulents and with their really competitive pricing, you feel like a kid in the candy store. I typically don't buy a ton of plants - maybe just one or two, but found myself leaving with more than I bargained for. Got a good handful of succulents/cacti (which seemed to be their main bread and butter). If we weren't pressed for time, I could probably spend at least an hour or two here just browsing. You might come across some roosters or cute kitties to keep you company. Plants are plentiful and relatively healthy. I did pick up a few lithops and baby toes as well. It was my first time caring for them, but unfortunately those little guys didn't survive long. Not quite sure if it was user error or the plants were already on their way out, so inspect those carefully if you decide to bring some home. Some of the aisles can be a little narrow to maneuver around in - just a heads up. The shop only takes cash or Venmo, so come prepared with some spending dough. Overall, a fantastic hole in the wall nursery with a great succulent/cacti/plant selection. I wished I lived closer otherwise I'd stop by more frequently.

The co owner of Four Winds Growers reached out to me with a solution regarding my beloved persimmon…read moretree. I had performed the scratch test and saw it was completely dead. I submitted a scratch test report and had a very short response, I had then requested to speak to the supervisor. The response I originally received was very disheartening to me as I felt I was being dismissed, not given a chance to plead my case, however after talking to the co owner, I feel differently. He was so kind and it was truly a safe space to talk to him openly and honestly about the entire experience, give feedback. He was kind, respectful, understanding and supportive. We came to a very fair solution. For that I will continue recommending four winds growers, I will continue purchasing from them. The quality of their customer service is what differentiates them from their competitors. We hit a bump in the road and they showed up and helped make me feel seen and valued. Thank you four winds. Looking back, I understand why I had received a short response, it was a Friday and the employee was probably just trying to close up and get through all emails. I'm thankful I requested to speak to a supervisor and I'm happy to know she was honest and put me through. A PSA to everyone: always speak up, advocate for yourself because no one else will. People won't always know what is wrong unless you speak up. But that isn't permission to be aggressive and mean, it just means it's ok to ask for help. Check out Four Wind Growers TikTok and IG page for super helpful tips and advice. Also their super cute dog makes appearances in their video with their famous orange tennis ball in the pot trick.
