I absolutely love tea and Smith Teamaker is currently my favorite brand out there. I order online from them all the time but was so excited for a trip to Portland that allowed me a visit of their headquarters. So much variety in tea flavors and truly the smoothest to drink. The shop was full of visitors tasting to go or sitting for a flight. Staff was super helpful making recommendations and making our visit so notable. Had a Bergamot Fog and a blackberry iced tea lemonade - they were both amazing. Hoping to recreate those treats at home. The shop is in a warehouse district as this is where the tea is shipped from. Not a fancy exterior but I loved being able to see into the back rooms where all the tea magic happens!!

Remarkable fragrance in this place. Since Covid, I've had very reduced ability to smell, but I could definitely smell the amazing fragrance inside of here. The shop is very organized and visually pleasing. Staff members were delightful. We ordered a hibiscus iced tea, a latte, a slice of carrot cake, and a chocolate chip cookie, and all were amazing. Parking is rough. We went around the block about a half dozen times before we finally scored a place, so it may be worth it to park a few blocks away and walk over.

Our first time here did not disappoint. My friend and I both got tea flights so we could try a few things. The staff was super helpful and friendly and the service was quick! Their outdoor seating was a nice touch since it was a lovely day outside.

I always enjoy Smith Tea and had to pop in to try their seasonal specials. They had this raspberry beret matcha latte which had this raspberry powder on top which was truly delicious. My friend had a tasty iced jasmine pearl tea. I've also liked their fizzy iced rooibos tea and the pineapple fizzy tea as well. The space is full of windows and light. Beautiful florals from Be floral decorating the space. Staff are pretty friendly as well.

I will always stop here when I visit Portland. Smith is my go-to tea brand and I love this tasting room/cafe. Seating is limited, but it's often less busy when they first open. The baristas are so knowledgeable about tea and the flights are great for discovering your new favorite blend. It's so interesting to see the Smith employees working in the back, creating and packaging blends. (They have a limited pastry selection!)

Such a fun spot to stop by and grab a refreshing tea! They have a lot of variations to choose from. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, and the service is amazing! I love the interior color of this establishment.

We have been meaning to hit this place up for some time now, and it doesn't disappoint! We even found a new flavor to take home! Not all of the teas were for me, and that's what makes this place so great! The opportunity to taste them all without having to commit to a whole box of tea! Loved the staff, very knowledgeable Tea Sommeliers with a gen-tea-l dedication to tea! Seating is close so you hear all the tea, from everyone. The place was up beat, clean and neat, and all about the tea. Edit: we went to the one in nob hill.

Took my parents here after spending time in downtown Portland since we wanted to enjoy tea and late snacks before our next stop. I've brought other friends here before so I knew it was going to be good. The tea shop is super quaint and they have samples of tea leaves you can smell and create a tasting flight for. What caught our eye was their charcuterie (essentially their cheese and tea tasting flight). The cheese comes from Cowbell (nearby local Portland cheese shop) and is paired with green and oolong teas. What a treat! It was quite affordable (around 20) and the four of us had enough bites and tea. We were pretty full so didn't have enough space for their baked treats, which I recall go really well with their teas. This is a stop you shouldn't miss. So affordable and a good stopping point for a light snack while you're in the area

Last year's visit- picture of the Tea on Tap Flight

If you're visiting Portland, Smith Teamaker is a must to stop by for a cup of tea or tea on tap. Last year when I visited it was a very hot day and the tea on tap flight was so refreshing and tasty. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, tea room, and shop! Our tasting was very unique and pleasant. The four different pours were lovely. I have never had a tea with effervescence, which they refer to as "fruitsmithing"- fruits and spices with bubbles. I learned about cold steeping iced tea. The process of using cold water reduces bitterness and highlights the sweetness of the tea leaves. Last week when I visited the shop I had the newest blackberry jasmine iced tea. I loved it so much that I bought a bag to take home with me. This seasonal green tea is so pretty and ranges from a blue sparkling sapphire to a darker blue like butterfly pea flower. The tea makers, employees, are nice and really are experts with their knowledge and brewing skills.

I'm in love, hands down no questions asked in love. Had my first visit in and asked the lovely staff to create me a flight based on their favorites. They asked me a few questions and then selected three exquisite teas for me to try while I enjoyed my delectable almond croissant. I wouldn't have tried 1912 on my own and now it is my new favorite! I do recommend a reservation as this location is quaint and fills up but I got there prior to opening and was able to be seated.

We had the best time at Smith Teamaker! We both got flights, one was their on tap flight and the other was a flight hot tea that the barista helped curate based on our preferences. They were super knowledgeable about all the different types of tea and gave amazing recommendations. While we were waiting for our tea we walked around and checked out the store area. It was really cute and had a great selection of teas. The tea was really good and we had a great time visiting!

I decided to stop by and try one of their tea flights after seeing it online. I created my own flight with Jasmine Pearls, Black Lavender, and Big Hibiscus so I could sample a green, black, and herbal tea. It was a fun way to experience the variety of teas they offer, and each one had its own distinct flavor profile. The employee who helped me was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer my questions while offering thoughtful recommendations. As a nice bonus, they gave me 10% off the individual tea sachets I purchased because I had ordered a tea flight that same day. If you're a tea enthusiast or just looking to try something different while in Portland, Smith Teamaker is definitely worth a visit.

I'm here because I'm a tea geek (green to Earl Gray, college to present day), but with stars in my eyes because their VALUES are part of what makes it great, earning accolades like NYT to proclaim "what craft brewers did for beer and artisanal vintners did for wine, Steven Smith did for tea." Because they're committed to "details" they carry BAKESHOP goods, so I scooped a Black Lavender Almond Cake for AM pairing with a Rose City Genmaicha that's exquisite - gently aromatic of sweet sesame, floral, grass. It's a quick sample of "haute tea couture," although much more education & lasting subscriptions to-go.
