    Wing snack with fries

8/6/22: We've been here twice in the passed few weeks. We go through the drive thru & the order taker hasn't been the friendliest either time. I ordered a chicken tender kid's meal, & wing snack, bbq sandwich. Both times, my wings were cold. My son enjoyed his kid's meal & my friend also enjoyed the bbq sandwich. We ordered medium drinks & we get huge cups of drinks. I can't imagine what a large looks like. If I go back in the future, I will definitely check my wings first.

This visit to Smithfield's was absolutely epic! Our dinner service began with placing a very quick order, which Mr. McKennies to extra good care of our party. We selected to sit at a table near the northern face of the establishment, which provided comfortable couch seating and two additional static chairs. The food came in a jiffy (extra ordinary swift); hot, and perfectly to our specifications. I have to be critical when I say the fixings on the side need to be a bit more bulky, as they were epically good but, vastly small in proportion. The main courses (chicken & shrimp) were delicious and not full of grease. I do understand food cost is paramount but, having a good balance of food is in order. This is absolutely something I would present to the owners of Smithfield's. I say this not because I think customers should have a plate overflowing with food but, I will volunteer that precautions need to be equally substantial. I go on to say... Lady Mia our iconic waitress performed iconically; even went beyond our expectations, as a member of out party is allergic to shellfish, which Lady Mia stepped in to pull another table near just for our party's convenience of seating. Though-out our Smithfield's experience located at: 4000 Jones Sausage Road Garner, NC 27529 we were showered with good ol' home cooking, great southern hospitality, and professionalism beyond normalcy. Mr. McKennies performed multiple duties, and the one which was making sure the Ladies Restroom had a fully operational soap dispenser after malfunctioning. His leadership was epic. In conclusion, we had an absolutely outstanding time, and I defiantly recommend dinning at this location if you're looking for: Good Food-Good Atmosphere, and feeling welcome. After years of passing Smithfield's locations and never stopping, I finally decided to try it. I had heard the barbecue was surprisingly decent for fast food and I found that to be largely true. Now, no one would mistake this for a famous plate of 'cue from a master smoker, but for a mass-produced product, they do pretty well. The restaurant is a bit cleaner than your typical fast food spot. Not quite Chick-Fil-A clean, but it's not a Burger King or something gross. The menu offers a wide variety and the sides are better than what you'd find at most fast food restaurants. The fried okra, for example, is pretty tasty. I also liked the soft serve ice cream machine and it was kind of like being in an old-school cafeteria again. If you want North Carolina barbecue, don't go here expecting something great. But if you are traveling through and need a quick vote then you could do a lot worse than a meal here.

Back again and still highly disappointed with the service felt like I was bothering them just by placing an order !! I didn't let it ruin my day but it's unacceptable because some people will react differently especially Since I've been in the same spot for 20 minutes

It's been years since I've been to Smithfield's, like 15 years. I always remembered it being usual fried chicken, but after getting some coupons in the mail I figured I'd give it another try. And I'm glad I did! The chicken here is amazing, and they give you a huge amount of shoestring fries which were the best I've had at any fast food restaurant! And the service here is better than any fast food place, they bring your food to the table and will even take your garbage and refill your drinks. I can't believe I missed out on Smithfield's for so many years!

I placed an order at 10:30 a.m. for a 30-person Tailgate Package and literally picked it up about 35 minutes later. Awesome Service, awesome food! Thank you all!

Smithfield's Chicken 'n Bar-B-Q is the hometown brand. The company started down the road in Smithfield, and it should surprise nobody that they serve chicken and Eastern NC style barbecue. For the uninitiated, Eastern NC style barbecue sauce is vinegar based and slightly spicy. It is also known as the superior style of NC barbecue. Anybody who disagrees is simply mistaken. Outside of chicken and barbecue/pulled pork, Smithfield's also serves fried shrimp and catfish. Menu items average slightly over $10 for platters, under $10 for sandwiches. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with hushpuppies and a sweet tea for $7.53. I tried to ignore the fact that the cashier was coughing without covering his mouth, but ew. Dude, cough into your sleeve. Couple that with the fact that he was dressed like a manager, and things are slightly questionable. The food was good, but there is a high bar for barbecue in the South. Smithfield does manage to set itself apart with its friendly service. Despite being a fast food restaurant, employees regularly walked through the dining room to offer drink refills. Coughy McCougherson aside, I had a good dining experience. Smithfield's is not quite good enough to go out of your way to find, but it's a good choice for a meal if it's convenient to you.

Chicken was very dry, all the other food was bland. The bathrooms were dirty and the staff was very rude. I won't come here again.

Meat is sold by the pound here. 1/4 pound don't sound like much but fills an average person up nicely. If yer like me, n want leftovers for late-night tv watchin', or t'take to work for lunch t'marra, go ahead n order a half pound. I ordered brisket, which was so tender it fell apart on my fork, n sausage, which was already cut in slices for me but dripping juice anyway. (They serve it right here, too, obviously). You git yer choice of their house sawses. Their Grand Champion Sawse, which is a smoky-tangy-sweet, or Competition Sawse, which is "tangy-sweet w/a little heat" (I didn't find it "hot" but I'm used t'eatin' jalapenos) or the North Carolina Sawse, which is yer Tarheel Vinegar style. They're all good, and I et a bit o each, but the Competition Sawse is prolly my fave. The food is very reasonably priced, especially for bbq, and you won't spend n arm n a leg if'n ya eat here. We love their vittles, n plan t'ask 'em about catering our anniversary party t'add a touch o class t'the occasion. Recommend highly!!!

Exceptional food AND service!!!…read more The Redneck BBQ Lab is conveniently located right off of I-40 and is a great place to stop in for a great meal. If you are traveling (or just need fuel) you can fill up at the fuel pumps while grabbing a bite to eat, as this restaurant is connected to a gas station! The brisket here is tender and has a great balance of fat and lean meat. Their competition sauce goes great with it, along with some freshly brewed sweet tea to chug it down! The jalapeño mac and cheese is awesome but you can definitely taste the jalapeño. It is not subtle. They also give you a biscuit AND a slice of cornbread! Even though this is a "help yourself" restaurant with free seating and grab-it-yourself utensils, there is an employee frequently walking around asking if he can refill your drinks and is welcome to strike up a conversation with you. The one in particular is extremely friendly, and is always at the restaurant to make your experience more enjoyable!

As we were walking up my grandson said " this is a fancy place ". The decor is nicer than most bbq places for sure. I was surprised to see so many options that were not bbq and a large selection of sides. He got meatloaf with Mac and cheese and baked beans. He said it was the best meatloaf he ever had and this comes from a picky eater! He loved the Mac and cheese as well. It was a huge serving so I got to try the meatloaf and he was right. He didn't share the Mac and cheese. Neither of us cared for the baked beans. I had the brisket, Brussel sprouts and potato salad. The brisket was tender and flavorful. Awesome. The potato salad was ok but I didn't care for the Brussel sprouts . I would try two different sides next time. A basket of hush puppies and biscuits came as well. We were both so thirsty and I can report they had excellent sweet tea. Our server was knowledgeable and pleasant. The food came out faster than I expected. We will be back!

For the starter we ordered the Pit Sampler (a medley of their appetizers; which includes pit-smoked wings, BBQ soul rolls, Southern-style deviled eggs, and pimento cheese balls). Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of the pit sampler as most dishes were a bit on the dry side, but the free basket of biscuits and hush puppies were great. For the entree we ordered the half rack of baby back ribs which were good but pretty fatty in some sections. I would return again in the future but may try something else on the menu.
