I have never been inside this restaurant, seems we always get it when we are on the way home. The person taking the order was understandable which is rate at a drive thru.. I got my usual...chicken strips with coleslaw and potato salad and hushpuppies. It was still good and hot when we got home. They always do a great job with the packing in the drive thru. I only ate half of my meal and ate the other half the next day. It warmed up beautifully. I am amazed at both the quality and the quantity of the chicken here. It outshines any of the other chicken places ! The price is very reasonable, especially for two meals! Great service!! We are inside of the restaurant even though they had a drive thru, and the ambiance was extremely welcoming. Loved the music and the decor of the place, which is locally owned and operated. My son got the chicken tenders and really enjoyed them. The potato salad was too sweet for me, but I am particular and do not like much sugar. If you get the plate, the menu reads confusing and needs clarification; it comes with hush puppies already, and then you get a choice of two sides. read more

I just visited your store at 3578 Davis Drive NC 27560 and my order number 624 at 6:06 consisted of a Bar-be-que sandwich combo that came with fries and a drink! I feel that my fries could've been lukewarm at best , but they were horrible and lacked flavor as well. I would've gone back but it was definitely out of my way. 1st time here since I just moved to the area a week ago. The food was delicious! I got the tenders and Bbq platted/dinner with fries and coleslaw. The food was tasty. The issue I have with this establishment is their cleanliness or lack of. I went to use the men's bathroom and the smell of Urine hit me upon opening the door. It looked like someone peed all over the place and no one bothered checking and cleaning. That's just nasty. The other issue I have is the smell of a "sour" rag upon walking into the restaurant. It's strong and can't confuse the smell. I know restaurants have a protocol for cleaning tables, surfaces and floors. The whole place smelled like that "sour" rag and the tables that I watched being clean were sticky. If you know something about a sour rag is that the smell is from bacteria releasing that smell. No matter how good the food is, if a bathroom is nasty and or I smell that "sour" rag smell, I start to ask what else is dirty or not being properly cleaned. Not about to get sick from eating or touching surfaces. Hard pass on this place, and it's a shame because it was my 1st time here. read more

I love it when the seasonings right, but sometimes it's like you get the bottom of the pan where all the sauce has drained and is just saturated to the point you can't even taste the pork or the coleslaw. This was not the Smithfield's experience we are used to. The lady that took the order was nice but the lady at the window was downright rude, not responding when we said hello and when she forgot our drink and we reminded her she didn't say anything. She just gave us the wrong drink after we had mentioned it twice, when we ordered and when we reminded her. Lastly, the fries were not cooked enough. The BBQ sandwich was just fine but not great. We were pleasantly impressed by how Smithfield's office reached out to us after our last disappointing visit. The willingness to hear our concern and complaint and even remedy the issue sang praises from a customer service standpoint. Our subsequent visit was perfect. The price of all restaurant food has risen almost exponentially.....and if that rise in prices is mixed with poor quality food.....it makes for a difficult transaction. We enjoy eating from Smithfield's and have eaten here quite a few times. We usually get the tailgate special and add on the Brunswick stew buy one get one for $1. It's been a mixture of good and not so good on customer service when we have ordered from this location. Customer service here is insane! From the moment you want in the doors, you see the smiling faces of employees (all of them were seriously smiling behind the counter!). Super friendly service, they bring your food to your table, and even refill your drinks. You get service as if you are dining in a restaurant, but you're in a fast food joint. Love it! Decided on the regular BBQ platter which came with pulled porked, cole slaw, potato salad, and hushpuppies (you could choose any two sides, but I just went with the traditional ones that came with the platter). The pulled pork was super tender. Enjoyed the vingear base so much that I added some more from the bottle on the table. The cole slaw and potato salad were standard. Nothing to rave about. The huspuppies were different from what I'm used to. Not only were they shaped differently, but they tasted way better! This was definitely the first time I ate all my hush puppies. I washed this all down with a unsweetened iced tea. Don't forget to mention unsweetened because you'll get sweet tea instead! If I wasn't stuffed, I would have got some banana pudding. Got to love this place for what it is - Great 'fast food" barbecue and amazing customer service. Now, don't get me wrong and think this is bad barbecue, it's not. The problem is that they have to make so blasted much of it, it's gas cooked, which I guess most people won't even think about. Great portions (BBQ dinner platter please!), tasty tea (order split if it's too sugary for you and use those little lemon packets). I really enjoy the slaw, hush puppies, and brunswick stew as my sides, but don't know of a bad one. Potato salad is good, they have the skinny fries which they do not skip on the serving, and the banana pudding and pecan pie finish off any meal perfectly. I rarely order the chicken, however I've catered at least 4 parties and this is where I turn to first. Nobody complains and they all go home stuffed! He asked where we were from and wether or not we would like to sample the pulled pork. Long story short we got the pulled pork platter with fries and a drink. Smithfield's is the BEST-tastin' fried chicken ever created!!! Juicy (even the white meat), tender, crispy skin with just the right amount of batter, and THAT SAUCE!!!!! Their version of Carolina vinegar sauce puts it OUT OF REACH for any other fried chicken!! Had cole slaw which was good, hush puppies which I'm not a fan of hush puppies anywhere so I'll rate them as average, French fries which were good, and pulled pork sandwiches which were OK but I have a smoker so I think I make em better :) To my palate, it's all about the chicken with sauce at Smithfield's...and nobody does it better! As of this writing, you cannot get Smithfield's chicken anywhere but in North Carolina, so get in your car, cross the state borders and come on down and taste the BEST!! Word up! read more
