I am officially over Smiths. They force use of their card to track you and your purchases and their ads are gimmicks to force purchase of multiples of items in order to get their discounted super special prices. A further problem is that their computer system is sometimes mis-programmed and it fails to recognize specials and you lose your discounts one groups of items--rather than just a single item. I have caught 3 errors in the past 5 weeks where I have tried to use the "buy 5...get 5 dollars off" and have found the error only after getting home and checking the tape. They always hand me a 5 dollar bill with no problems, leading me to believe this is a semi regular occurrence. Now Smiths is rolling out so called digital coupons. More tracking of my purchases....and you have to log onto their site as wade through 300 to 400 coupons and mark which ones you want. I realized I had spent 12 wasted minutes on their site and finally realized I would have more checking up on them to get the few pennies saved by these coupons. I will be patronizing Smiths for loss leader items only in the future. Albertsons has equivalent pricing overall and they do not track your purchases at this time. read more

The deli says it closes at 8pm. Don't try going at 7pm the employees will tell you there closed and not cut any meat or cheese because they want to leave. If your hours are tell 8pm you do your job tell 8 then clean up. This store also will not hire baggers so the public has to do it our self. It's not our job smiths. Get it together. read more

Not 24 hours. Look this is vegas, I sleep during the day and work at night at a casino. I need to be able to do my shopping at night. The smith where i used to live was 24 hours. Someone from the store told me because of security issues. So what you have a rude security guard during the day but can't have one at night? I would like to say Angie was soo helpful and provided great customer service. She saw me with my eyes crossed shopping in my mind but not moving . She politely approached me and said "do you need help finding something?" Her tone was very sweet. I was making tacos and wanted to try something new and didn't know what to get. She suggested seasoning for me to try. I'm excited to do so. I then finally remembered my shopping list (some of it lol) so I asked her where the items were and she was spot on with her knowledge of the store. I got what I needed and then remembered I needed more stuff. So I hunted her down and asked again and she was yet very sweet and helpful. I am in customer service for a bank and she gave me the treatment I would give all of mine. I REALLY appreciate her being proactive and stopped what she was doing to get the question mark over my head to turn into a lightbulb . Excellent on convenience. Employees are nice. Terrible parking. There is often a line that backs into the street causing backup. There are always solicitors trying to sell you something in the parking lot. Inside the store is kept clean. The prices are great. Butcher and produce selection is very good. Never go around the first of the month, the crowds are almost unbearable and the food stock is way down. read more

I bought a container of pico de gallo from Smith's yesterday for "Taco Tuesday"... I saw what looked like a large chunk of tomato. I ignored it and enjoyed my tacos. Today I go to have leftovers and try to dig a little deeper into the container only to find out they put a whole tomato into the container instead of filling it with what I actually paid for. I'm done with this store. No one there knows how to bag and it seems there is no training. My raw meat is constantly being put into the same bag as other products including produce and cooked meat from the deli. I always put my cold stuff together on the belt but tonight it was all separated into many different bags. I checked the bags before leaving and had to ask the bagger to put my meat in a separate bag. So he puts my raw ground turkey in the same bag as my cold cut chicken. I didn't notice that until I got home. I won't waste my gas going back, but when I called tonight to complain to the manager on duty I told him that I would sue if I was to get sick. He apologized and that's it. Didn't even bother to offer to even talk with the bagger. I asked if he could give the store manager the message and he told me the manager's name is Jason and to call back. I asked if he could and he said he would but he hardly ever sees him. He never asked for my name and number to leave for the manager. The people who work in the store are nice but lack common sense. I've worked years in retail and have been a supervisor and if there was ever a problem I'd speak to the associate or leave a note on the store manager's desk if it was beyond me. Well, I'm done shopping at this particular store. Winco now has a new weekly customer. The produce is terrible as well. I can go through almost ten apples or oranges to just find one. I'm just glad the associates are friendly. If I can hear back from the actual manager and if all employees (current and future) would learn how to bag I'd go back. read more

I love opening my Smith's flyer when it advertises chicken at 99 cents pound. That would be a great thing if this location would learn to price their items accordingly. Last week the scales were broken for 3 days. I was told I could pay the higher price and come back for a credit later. I don't think so... Also, this store is in southern Nevada and they lack items like Adobo seasoning. This isn't a Mexican speciality item, it's essentially Mexican Mrs. Dash. They're frequently out of chocolate soy milk in Silk and generic brands. Smith's cashiers are intrusive and can't bag a sack of groceries without putting eggs with a sack of a potatoes. I like this Smith's better than any other grocery choice in my area (I currently live around Pecos and Tropical). The produce seems fresh, and they always have what I need- with the exception to the one time I needed pantyhose and the CVS across the way was closed (don't ask). The staff there is helpful, especially at the meat counter- I always ask for recommendations of products that look "especially good" and they always tell me what's the best deal as well as things that they've been eyeing. They're also really helpful in recommending meats that work well in specific recipes. AWESOME! The only reason they get knocked a star is because I'm never able to get warm french bread when it's supposed to be out. read more

I have been to 4 different Smith's in Vegas and this store is the best one. The Deli section is convenient and stocked with great items: sushi, sandwiches, green salads, roasted chicken, wraps, and macaroni salad. They always run manager's specials which at times include chicken filet sandwiches, wings, and fried burritos. They have frozen yogurt cones for 50 cents each. It is organized well, easy to find what you're looking for, and the quality of their meats are decent with no excess fluid. The water refill station is conveniently located by their exit. Staff is just as friendly, helpful, and outgoing like all of the other Smith's. I have been told by some of my patients coming over from the Eastside of town that this is the most cleanest store out of all of them. Update 1/23/15: This store has the best kept soup section that keeps me coming back. All the Smith's in Henderson have gotten rid of their hot soup counters. read more

Ive tried this location a couple times now and it has yet to grow on me. They never seem to have any produce I need when I go in, Its always crowded and the staff is not very good at interacting with and helping customers. If you pass by the cash registers with any groceries, staff is right there in your face asking if you are ready to check out. I understand they are trying help out with time spent in line but my god. All I feel like they are doing is rushing me to get out of the store. no need to bombard me, half the time I'm just passing to get to the other side of the store. If im looking towards the registers and you feel I am trying to find a short line, by all means, help out a little. but come on, I shouldn't feel rushed EVERY TIME I go into the store and I do. SO ANNOYING. if you're looking to enjoy your grocery shopping experience drive a little further to the 215 and aliante location. Its so much nicer and more relaxed there. this location is for people on the go that want to get in and out quick. its also for the lower class customer. people always walking around in pajama pants, slippers, hair a mess and smelly. gross. on one trip walking from my parking space to the front entrance, I was almost hit by two different cars pulling out of spots. so obviously this is the store the idiot customers come too as well. like HELLO, im literally standing directly behind your car. MIRROR CHECK, HEAD CHECK! the location isn't that great either. Have shopped at this Smith's ever since it opened. It has gone down hill, little by little - but today was the absolute worst! There were 15 people in line for the self check-out, the 2nd self check-out area was totally closed, and there were only 2 regular check-out lanes open, and one person to sack groceries. In the midst of this, one scanner broke on the full-service lane, and everyone had to move to a different lane. People were lined up down the aisles. To top it off, there was water leaking all over the floor in front of the check out counters, coming from the soda coolers, and also from the area where the bags of ice are stored. They never called for an additional checker. I can understand being short staffed - but - at least have all of the self-checkout lanes open. Probably going to need to start driving a little farther to go to a store that has better management. I think everyone should have just left their groceries right where they stood and walked out! read more

I love this place and it's just as good today as the first time I walked in here. I stopped by very early the other day to get my husband a birthday cake. Every single employee I ran into greeted me (from the manager to the guy stocking produce) and I was only headed to the bakery section which is not too far from the entrance. I picked a simple cake and asked them to write on it. Well, the cake I picked had some pink frosting on it and as soon as the gal realized it was for a man she offered to go get the same cake in blue from the freezer. How great is that? I know my husband wouldn't have cared less but it was really awsome that the lady offered up the blue one. Bouncing over to the ice cream I loved that the whole freezers lit up as soon as I stepped into the isle. Maybe it was just time for the lights to go on, but it was still pretty cool, like it was just for me. I still shop here for most of my groceries because their sales and coupon rewards are hard to beat. The other day I was online and looking at the weekly ad, and they had a contest to design your own shopping bag. So I did, and in return for making one online I was able to get one for free at the store. That is way cool to me. I love this store. read more

I spoke with Marco, don't know how he's a manager, unprofessional and not helpful at all. Went to a different Smith's to see if they could solve my problem and thankfully they were smart enough to be able to help me. This is a very clean & nice smiths as far a groceries go, but as far as the bakery never order a cake from there it taste like poison and is flat as a pancake. This cake was awful, from the frosting to the cake. Not to mention it was 90% frosting and 10% cake. I would not ever order a birthday cake from here again. read more

My husband and I recently moved closer to this location and it has therefore become our regular store. Overall the staff here is very friendly and while they are not really great at recognizing regulars they are always pleasant. One of the managers is always at the end of the lines making sure you get through quick. One downside is this particular location is pretty small and does not have a Starbucks (I know this isn't really their fault) they did however finally get a gas station! Biggest complaint with this location is their stick issue. It always seems as though they are out of one item I really need. Whether it's a veggie, staple like plain Greek yogurt, or simple coffee creamer. Overall though they do a good job of keeping everything clean which I appreciate. read more

Terrible customer service. I went there to buy a bottle of tequila for $30 I get home and the bag breaks causing my glass bottle of tequila to spill all over my driveway and cloths. I call smiths talk to the manager and they say sorry not sorry nothing we can do you took it out of the store. I simply said I have the receipt I literally just bought it I can take pictures of proof of the bag breaking and the bottle shattered so they wouldn't think I was trying to get a bottle for free. The manager replied nope nothing we can do. So thankyou so much smiths and your wonderful manager as that $30 bottle of tequila just lost you the $1500-$2000 a year I spend on groceries there. My wife and I will never shop there again so good on you for being bad with your customer service and losing a customer of 2 years over something so small. read more

This is the closest grocery store to my house but I will not return. First the aisles are extremely crowded, as are the checkout lanes. The aisles you can hardly fit two carts and add that with everything they have displayed some aisles it's only one cart. But all of that is easy to ignore... Second, Today as I am checking out I am literally wedged between my cart and the shelves. I am putting something on the conveyor belt. There is also a customer behind me... I am 9 months pregnant. When I say wedged, I actually have nowhere to go. A Smiths employee (appeared to be a manager!) was suddenly right in front of me. Between the cart and the shelf blocking my way to the conveyor. I was startled and asked her to move she replied with 'no I need to go over there' and pointed dismissively. Then pushed my cart back, with her other hand on my arm. I looked at her and asked 'what is happening here?!' And she walked off and told the customer behind me she would take her at another register. It was like I wasn't even there?!?! Extremely rude, extremely unprofessional and so far out of line! Again, I will not nor will my family return to this location. read more

I shop here regularly as it is very conveniently located to my home. Generally their customer service is phenomenal and I am in and out in no time. There is always the same lady there every time I go (I'm assuming the front end manager) and she is always helping customers find the shortest line so you don't have to wait. It seems though that the last few times I have been there the front end employees are overwhelmed and flustered with the amount of business coming through and it becomes chaotic. Customers are wandering around looking for lines because all of them are closed off and you can't get anyone's attention because they are being crowded with impatient customers. I feel bad for them, actually. Even though this has happened the last few times I have been there I still give them props because I personally know how difficult it can be to manage such an overwhelming about of business. Let me first start off by saying that my review is specific to their bakery. It is also based on a visit on 10/23/10, I just didn't Yelp then. Their actual store is ok. Clean, stocked, just ok. During the week of 10/18 I came to Smith's to order a birthday cake for my daughter's 7th birthday party (to take place on 10/23). The clerk behind the counter worked with me on the order. She even brought out the actual cake decorator to help. We ordered a two layer cake with filling, butter cream frosting and basic hot pink and purple decor (large circles sprinkled on...similar to one in the display case). The decorator said she is the one who was working that day and would be decorating our actual cake. We made sure she understood what we wanted (really, people, it was a simple cake). The big day came and because I was running behind I sent my sister for the cake. She called and said...they want to know if I am sure we pre-ordered it since they didn't have it. I told her to give them the slip with the order. After a while the clerk came out and said...oh I found it. My sister brought the cake to my house as the guests were arriving. When I went to check it out my heart dropped. This was not the cake we ordered. This cake was significantly smaller than the size we ordered. I also orders two layers and this was one. I now had 27 kids in my backyard and the cake looks like something my daughter made with an Easy Bake oven. Not only was it smaller, but it had little sprinkle things on it and the coloring wasn't what we requested. And the writing??? We simply requested "Happy 7th Birthday" and my daughter's name. So easy, right? It was written in a shaky cursive that looked plain horrible. At this point I was extremely upset. I get that it's just a cake, but by this time my daughter saw it and was devastated it wasn't what she helped pick out. First words out of her mouth were "they gave us someone else's cake". Basically...it looked as though they just forgot our order and the clerk ran back and threw something together. The price of the cake was several dollars less than what we were quoted too. Basically the cost of a shelf cake vs. pre-order. When I called the store she said there was nothing she could do but have us come back and she would try to put the larger circles on it. She also couldn't confirm if the filling was inside as requested. She just said the only way to find out was to cut into the cake. Uh yeah...like that was going to help us right now. In the end, I sent my sister to return the cake. They didn't want to take it back because it was personalized, but once she explained the situation they gave us a refund. In the meantime I was able to call another bakery who prepared and decorated a beautiful cake for us at the very last minute. Ultimately I get that it was just a cake. You eat it and life goes on. But this was much bigger to us..and to my daughter. The cake is the pièce de résistance at any party and this party was no exception. Although I continue to shop at this store on rare occasion, I have never nor will I ever utilize the services of their bakery again. read more
