The guys in the electronic department are total jerks and pretty much hate life and will judge you hard. I was returning sealed, never been open Pokémon cards with a receipt and didn't realize it was the last day to return them. After them looking at the sealed box and interrogating me and asking questions they refused to accept the cards and refused to accept them because I was 4 hours late of the time when I originally bought them 30 days ago. After my chat with the electronic guys I talked to the people down in customer service and told them about what the electronic people said and they said the return time isn't even a rule and doesn't exist. Customer service kindly accepted the return. Later on that day, I called other Smith's around the valley to see what their return policy is, and most of them said that they would accept returned even after the expired return date for a few days. I was surprised to see so many negative reviews for this location! I've loved going here, specifically for their pick up service. Within the past year, I decided to give pick up orders a try as a way to save money. You get free pickup with orders over $35 and usually there are multiple spots available if you place your order the same day you'd like to pick it up. On the weekends, the available spots are fewer, so I would recommend ordering ahead of time if you want to pick up on the weekend. Ordering ahead of time also allows you to modify your order and add items if you need to. The staff that delivers pickup orders are all SO friendly - literally the kindest people. I've rarely had issues with my pickups, and when they've forgotten items they're always quick to resolve the situation. I really like using their app as well, you can click "on the way" when you're on the app and the pickup order is usually brought out right away. When I went recently, I clicked "on the way" in the app, and an employee was finishing up delivering a pickup order to the car next to me and already had my stuff on his cart to drop off to me immediately after. I could be wrong, but I don't know of other grocery stores that do this for free. They also do delivery for a fee if that's something you're interested in too. read more

I want to give a special COVID-19 shout out to this Smith's. Everyone who works here is being so amazing right now - there are staff everywhere constantly cleaning surfaces and restocking shelves. This morning they had someone stationed at the cart section who was wiping down every single cart (and he was such a sweetheart). There are clearly lots of managers working (overtime, I'm sure) to make sure things go as smoothly as possible. They have lots of clear, easy to read, kind signs explaining what items are limited at checkout and why, and asking people to shop with their neighbors in mind. I am so impressed. Was excited that Smith's is owned by Kroger's. Have been shopping at King Soopers for over 20 years in Colorado and had hoped that this would be a similar normal experience, but on a smaller scale. The produce section and many other sections, do not have as many items to choose from as I have been used to seeing. (not as many varieties of apples, for example) After ringing up $100 of purchases, I was informed that Smith's does not take Visa credit cards. They will take Debit cards. I don't even use my Debit card to pay for things anymore. What in the world? Are we back in the stone age? Many people like to use Visa credit cards because they can earn cash back, or points, etc...Apple Pay would be great too. I was at your location today to find a Valentine's Day gift for my boyfriend. Out of nowhere one of your employees approached me (she had brown hair glasses and blue eyes and looked around 48-52) and asked if I needed help. After she asked me if I needed help she stared at me and lingered for a while. At first, I thought she was just trying to find something to do but as I was going to check out she (the same lady) asked me if I had put the "other stuff back". Meaning a bag I decided not to get (and yes I had put back). I told her yes and she asked me where I put it. She was accusing me of stealing because she had nothing better to do. Not to mention she had been following me around and asking questions and looking me up and down since the first interaction. I just wanted to give kudos to Smith's in Sugarhouse for managing the COVID19 situation. My wife went to buy groceries this morning, and they had everything we needed in stock. When they opened, they let in 25 people every 5 min to keep things calm and orderly. Toilet paper and paper towels, which hoarders seems to be buying up, were available (1 pkg each per visit). As were most other things - rice and beans were an exception. I think mormons are to some extent taught to be doomsday preppers, and many stockpile dry rice and dry beans. In any case, the store was orderly and generally fully-stocked. Just want to recognize them for not giving in to the idiotic demands of the hoarders and preppers. read more

Every time I try to pay for my groceries an employee asks me to donate some of my dwindling money. It is so uncomfortable to be put on the spot every time I go there. And when I say no she treats me like dirt. I dont go there anymore by the way. I am living in poverty, I can barely scrape by on what I have, I dont have disposable income to give to a charity and I dont like that no matter where you go there is someone asking you for money. This Smith's is the best I've ever experienced. Natalie and Norman were exceptionally aware of customer needs during the holidays and offered several forms of Christmas spirit. Did you know that at this Smith's there is a produce stand that provides free healthy snacks for children? The organic+local section is clearly marked and well kept at 10pm! It's always hopping, but I don't know anyone who totally loves this location. I've become a Smith's guy, and this location isn't my favorite. I imagine it's great if you're a regular, but the layout is different than many others I frequent. First of all, the parking lot doesn't go on for acres like other locations in the burbs. So you'll probably not get a spot right up close, or you'll be waiting for someone to back out or pull around. Be patient. What I do like is that it's set up for a quick runs. They have loads and loads of self-checkout stations, and my guess is that more people are ducking in for smaller, more frequent purchases rather than really packing the cart. Know your audience, as they say. That's how I typically use this grocery store--since I don't live in the neighborhood, I run in here when I'm headed to the park or when I just need to grab something. The ice is located inside as opposed to the breezeway as it is in many other spots, and that's probably the number one item I get here. Beyond that, they've got all the goodies of any grocery store. The folks were nice to me today when the scanner was having problems, but YMMV. read more

I come to this store several times a week and there are always three employees that make it a great experience: Deb, Leo, and the woman who greets you as you leave (She always has a blue shirt, I wish I knew her name). Deb makes being at the grocery store at 6/7AM so much better. Not only is she efficient, she strikes up a good conversation. Many cashiers would not even try to talk to you, much less that early in the morning! She is so attentive and can recognize if you have been there before. She makes funny jokes and is a light to this team. Leo is very helpful at self checkout, sometimes even as cashier. I can appreciate his sense of humor every time i need his help. In my opinion, I think Leo is also a star employee--very helpful. Lastly, the woman with the blue shirt. She is always so nice and makes original conclusive greetings. Sometimes I'll see her a couple times in a row and still get a, "thank you for shopping with us, have a great day". read more

Always such a bustling store, the parking lot is always busy. The entrance/exit is a little difficult to navigate. There are lots of other shops and stops around, it's a great area to go walk around. This store in particular I've frequented last year, mainly to run and grab things last minute. Each time they have been pretty easy to find, I guess located in the area where I expected them, I've asked for help a few times, the employees aren't overly nice, but they aren't necessarily mean either. Just kind of meh. Smith's in general is a place I enjoy shopping and it's interesting to see all the differences in each one. The store is kind of set up strange. I wish they would've put the Starbucks more to one side or the other, it's kind of difficult to finagle a cart around that area when it's busy. I've not had the chance to interact with the deli, meat department, or the pharmacy yet. So this is based solely on the meh-ness of the general store and front end areas. read more

Smiths is super rad and has a ton of gluten free and vegan options and it is somewhat separated and easy to find. I love that they're open late making it super convenient no matter what time of day or night. It's affiliated with the Krogers chains I believe as well. They have a savings card and you can scan it for points and rewards anytime you're there. There is a separate lot but not a ton of parking depending on what time of day or night you go. read more

Yet another place that I go to mostly out of convenience. Don't go late at night or you'll get locked into an aisle with pallets of food and what not due to their restocking, which I get, but I feel like they should figure out a better system. If they're stocking a shelf, they usually aren't very aware of customers trying to shop and don't go out of their way to get out of your way. They recently underwent a renovation of sorts that seems to still be going on yet I'm not quite sure when it's going to be done? It seems like half of the store got made over and then they just stopped. They moved everything around and things can be found in more than one place (ie, there are at least three different aisles were one can find varying sorts of crackers and chips). This is why I wish that every grocery store ever should have the same set up. At the very least, every Smith's (Target, Wal-Mart, what have you) should have the same layout. i just got home from shopping at the smiths on 9th east and 2100 south-- use to like shopping there--- not so much now -- was bad enough when they stopped taking visa credit cards - and don't believe that it is because visa charges too much otherwise why would they still take it at krogers in other states-- so it is not a national thing it's a local smiths thing-- today i had a coupon that said 4x points on gift cards- right under the sign that said 4x were the smiths gift card-- so i grabbed one - gee 4x points and i could use it to get gas-- great right? WRONG!! points didn't show up went to customer service they said smith cards were exempt didn't get the 4x-- asked why they were directly under the sign- gee he didn't know had been that why for years-- so was upset about that and didn't even notice i didn't get my bag points either-both the cashier Jessica and myself were to blame for that---they keep re-arranging the stores too -- takes me forever to find anythingam thinking most of my shopping will be done at other places in the future read more

I think I'm done with Smith's. They don't seem to care much about convenience. When Apple Pay first became available it worked at pretty much every Smith's location I went to. Then after a while they blocked it for some reason. When I asked about it they gave me a bunch of false excuses about Apple not paying them for the transactions. Now they no longer accept visa. I use a Visa debit card so that I don't have to enter my PIN number. This is both more convenient as it saves time... and it's also more secure. They will accept visa debit cards if you enter a PIN number, but then it rejects the chip and keeps making you put it in until it rejects it 3 times and then you have to swipe the magnet strip. So frustrating and such a waste of time. It's unfortunate that Kroger hast to put its customers in the middle of its dispute with a visa. I'm not sure what they expect. Maybe they think that all of their customers are going to switch their debit cards to MasterCard... well my credit union and most other credit unions only offer Visa debit cards... so screw that... I'll just start going to Harmon's. Their stores are nicer anyway. read more
