It was over a year and a half ago during the onset of the pandemic lockdown and during the eve of a holiday, the worst time to get Locked Out of my place. ALL my keys & key fobs were inside and I had No access inside. All persons who could have helped were MIA, alway on vacation and or unreachable...it was the perfect storm and nightmares of inconveniences! Good thing I had my smart phone with me, used YELP to narrow my search and made some calls to local locksmiths. All but one replied; Idan of Smitty's Locksmith replied and arrived 15 minutes with his toolbox to unlock my complicated locks on my front door. My objective was to just get inside, because all my keys and key fobs were accidentally left inside. Idan used his tools magically and no damage was done to my locks or door. He preferred to be paid in cash, which I acquiesced to, given the circumstances and because I had it. Paid him All Cash, No receipt, No Business card :( The service was pricey; it took less than 2 minutes, but I knew the main thing I actually paid for was the Convenience. He was professional, very helpful and saved my day from turning into a nightmare: being locked out during cold winter and during the COVID pandemic, yeah a major nightmare! My workplace had used this company in the past and needed them again to come out and do some work with our electronic keypads and make copies of keys. They came out for an hour and then said we owed them $650 (which was incorrect yet still fishy). After deliberation, Smittys agreed to cut that figure in half, which was a more accurate rate. I needed them to come out again the next day to cut more keys for an additional suite we have and sort of do the same thing - check out our electronic keypads etc etc. Another opportunity to make another couple of hundred bucks. After a back and forth exchange, they agreed to send a locksmith out between 3-4pm. No one showed, and when I called during this time frame to confirm someone indeed was coming, they did not return my call as promised and left our employee waiting. Never showed. So, I called back the next day to see what happened and see if someone could come out promptly first thing. There was no explanation as to why no one showed, no apology (but those must be overrated these days I assume), and to make it even greater of an experience, the guy asked us if we "really wanted them to come back out to work because they were in Beverly Hills". To that - my response was no. We will use someone else who wants to work and will not leave us hanging for several days in a row, as we had clients and other staff working and depending on their customer service. read more

Update: they basically breathe down your throat as you type them a 5 star review so I am changing that. They were sooo late! They kept saying 30 mins, "traffic is bad"--yeah, we live in LA, we get that traffic is bad. The worst part of it all was they told me they were doing me a favor by not charging me to come late at night--as if I called them at 11pm or something!! And of course, as another reviewer already mentioned, and this is IMPORTANT: they up charge for everything. I called beforehand to get their pricing and when they went to charge me it was $10 (minimum) more, per lock, than they quoted me on the phone!! BOTTOM LINE: I wish I never used them. They were late, like extremely late. And I had to fight with them over their inane bait and switch pricing. Never ever again. Am giving 2 stars because they did do the job Awesome service.
