He inspected the key and asked her where the car was. He quoted her $250. He told her that this key is a piece of junk and she needed to buy another key from him so that he could program it. When my 288 lb Fire Safe decided to lose power to its digital combination keypad, I decided to give these guys a whirl again. Nice job! Just when I was going to become another victim of the sheisters who call themselves Toyota Service Stations, Midway Locksmith came to my aid. The former was going to charge us $115 for a replacement remote key for our Camry PLUS a $50 reprogramming charge that was going to take 1 hour. Aghast at such robbery, I google mapped the closest remote key service to me and found Midway Locksmith. With an over-the-phone quote of $65 total fee (new key and programming charge), I knew I was dealing with an honest broker here. Not only that, the 1 hour programming was going to take a mere 5 minutes time. True to his, word, this was all done by the owner with dispatch who was also able to revive our old remote key and reprogram that, as well! A nice added bonus! The lesson here: if you are beyond warrantee and can source out work from a car dealer to another specialist (here: a locksmith), do so! You might find that there are nice, honest brokers who can do the same things for a fraction of the cost! read more

I needed someone to program the key and remote for my 2007 RAV4. I called a Toyota Dealer and they wanted to charge me $250. I found Midway on Yelp, gave them a call and was quoted $95. When I arrived, they cut my key and told me there was no chip inside of the key that needed to be programmed, it was just the remote that needed to be programmed - so the cost was only $30. I was thrilled! The bottom line...they were very responsive - returned my call within 15-minutes of leaving a message. Their pricing was reasonable. They worked quickly (I was in and out inside of 10-minutes). And I was happy with their service and their pricing. I wish I could give this guy more than 5 stars. I bought a relatively expensive deadbolt for my place. Since it's wasn't one of the cheapo basic types (Kwikset, Schlage), he had to walk me through how to install it, since it had many more steps than the cheaper ones. I thought I had it down and took it home and got it installed...only it didn't work. I called him up and he tried to trouble shoot it but we couldn't figure it out. So what did he do? He closed down his shop and drove over to my house. He figured it out in 5 minutes, totally my fault, and we got it fixed. When I tried to give him some money, his response? "Buy me a beer sometime!" He smiled and drove off. This shop carries EVERYTHING. From the cheapo $25 locks, to $180 Medeco and the Israeli version. If you need to protect anything with a lock, this is the place to go. he will work with you to make sure you get the best you can get within your price range. And he's AAA certified. read more

This is where I go when I have a difficult lock issue: needing discontinued or rare blanks to make key copies, fixing an antique pocket door lock, getting a mechanical (not-electronic) Simplex safe, etc. Costs a little more than Home Depot to copy a key, but when you get home, their keys always work perfectly. I needed to get two new keys made for my Scion tC. As the Scion is using a transponder key and combination remote I knew it was going to be pricey. However, I was in shock when two dealers quoted me over $500 to make two keys! I happened to run into reviews on Yelp for Midway Lock and Safe. Al was great in programming my 2007 car with both an actual key and car fob. I paid $95 for the service and it took all of 20 minutes, which I just spent hanging out at The Grove anyway. My situation was tricky because the key I gave him (the one I currently use) to use as a guide for the key blank only works on one side. Al was able to use the one side that worked to cut the key blank so that BOTH sides work. He even gave me a spare key to use when I go surfing. After the frustrating experience with Beverly locksmith I trusted yelp once again and gave this man a shit. Although it was Sunday he agreed to see me in 15 mins. I paid 109$(tax included) for a key that was quoted 388$ at SM toyots dealership and 190$ at the other locksmith (granted I took the non remote verdion, if I took the remote version it would be 50$ more but still cheaper than 2 other options). All was done within 15 minutesni upfront payment, cash only etc bs. I would definetely come back here for any future key needs and recommend this place to everyone read more
