We needed a locksmith to come right away because we were worried that someone had stolen keys to our house. Called in the morning, explained the situation, and Idan told me he understood the urgency, and would come out that afternoon (even though he was fully booked that day). He came out at the time he said, and spent 90 minutes redoing all the locks in the house (4 deadbolts, a weird gate lock, and 4 or 5 door locks). He spotted several issues with deadbolts and got them fixed -- stuff a normal locksmith might have missed. He didn't complain that the job took longer than he expected -- he just got the work done, and answered all our questions patiently. A few weeks later everything is still working perfectly. Be sure to get all prices agreed to before he comes by. Idan came over after I called in a panic Sunday afternoon unable to get in the front door after grocery shopping. Shortly after he arrived he donned some slick black gloves (which I assume are tools of the trade) and used what he called the bump lock technique (probably another tool of the trade) to unlock the front door. He came and worked fast enough that the groceries sitting in the heat just outside the front door got into the refrig before spoiling. However when we asked him to do other door lock work after he finished up, his price was not so competitive, so I'd advise getting his price commitment before he shows up. read more

Okay, so I've told this story about a dozen times to friends and family and finally remembered that I hadn't Yelped it! So here it is....After a break in my condo building garage in which something over $10,000 in property was stolen, I went on a security bender. A new neighbor showed me her "multi-lock" key which looks like the love-child of a bike key and wicked metal nail file, but with a brightly colored topper. Needless to say I was intrigued. She said she used Smitty's and before going to them I came here to my Yelping Community. And heck yeah, the reviews rocked. Idan was at my front door the next day...and he didn't need a key because he picked my existing deadbolt in a matter of seconds and said, "Don't worry, thieves lock up after leaving." Ha, security oriented and a sense of humor. Yelp wasn't wrong. Idan installed my new multi-lock the same day in a matter of something less than 2 hours. He was friendly and quick and took the time to explain that if I'm ever locked out, Smitty's is open 24 hours to help me get in. (Since not even other locksmiths can get into these bad boys easily!) Being a goof who has locked herself out more than once, this tidbit was important information for me. I can't recommend Smitty's enough and I am lobbying the Homeowners board of directors to get our existing building locks changed to mulit-locks!
