The Smog Express owner is very honest and will clearly tell you what you need to do if you think it might not pass. I totally recommend this place to all my family and friends, He is fast! and the price is right. I clearly told him I was not sure my car would pass because it had been sitting in my driveway for months. He told me to drive it for a few days then to come back. I did exactly what he said, and my car passed. I then took my truck a few months later, He found a broken hose, so he told me to get it fixed then to come back for my smog test. Watch out for this place! If you have an older vehicle that requires the Dyno and Evap they will rip you off. Charged me $125 plus 3% surcharge for paying with a credit card. $129 for a smog check on a 40 year old pickup. That's approx. $40 more than other shops in the area. Do your research and shop around. HE RIPPED ME OFF! I absolutely do not recommend coming here! My car did not pass the first smog check, as it turned out, my car needed the thermostat replaced. I replaced my thermostat the next day and took my car back two days after that. They supposedly offer a free retest if you come back within 14 days. When I took it back after only 3 days, he recommended that I come back after a few more days because he didn't think it would pass again, he told me to drive it around another 50 miles before returning again. Even though I had a busy work schedule, I took his advice thinking he was trying to help me out. Throughout those two weeks, I came back 3 MORE TIMES! and although he had no other customers EACH TIME, HE KEPT TURNING ME AWAY and kept pushing my retest back!!! Today I came back for the 4TH TIME and he retested it in about 5 mins and told me I had to pay again because it was just after the 14 days If you're looking for a smog check, go somewhere else. If you fail he will just keep pushing your free retest back to get you to pay double. read more

WoW! What a difference a few blocks down the street makes! I had taken my 06 Mercedes S65 to a "Special Smog" place a couple of days ago and the Smog Tech (who has been doing smog for 15 years and new everything) couldn't get my car to complete a smog test because of a ton of issues (all his fault- read my other review). So I take it to Albert at Smog Express ( and of course I'm worried because I don't want him to abuse the car like the other tech did). First thing I ask Albert is "Hey do these cars get smogged on the rollers or is it a 2-idle speed test?" And I know the answer after calling my buddies at Mercedes to verify. He says "These newer Mercedes only do the 2 idle test because you can't really turn off the traction control." GENIUS!!! That's all I needed to know. I ask a few more questions and I can tell Albert really knows what he is talking about. Very impressed and I will always bring all my cars to him for a smog! He is one of the few people around that still CARES about his customers and doesn't give you that "I know it all" attitude that most insecure Techs give you. Thanks Albert!! read more
