Taking my ten-year-old car in to have it smog tested is stressful. There is always a concern that it won't pass for some reason, and I'll have to take more time (and spend more money) to get it ready to pass. In the past, my stress has been augmented by personnel at test centers who are either unprofessional or unfriendly. My experience with Smog King in Pleasanton was entirely positive. Scott was responsive and friendly on the phone when I set up the appointment, and equally so when I arrived for the smog check. Service was fast and complete, and having a $20 off coupon available from their site didn't hurt either. Went in on a Thursday at 11:00am and was helped by Mike. In and out in about 15 min. There was no waiting and Mike gave me the password for the free wi-fi (not that I was long there enough to really utilize it!). Service was friendly, fast and the car passed (Whew!). The price is higher than some of the volume smog shops, but the Yelp discount helped to off-set that. Highly recommend if you'd rather be doing something other that waiting in line at a smog shop! read more

The attendant (wish I'd gotten his name) was super nice and very friendly; he made great small talk and actually acted like he gave a darn about his customer service. In a day when you literally feel pressured or rushed to get out of someone's place of business, be rest assured that this business in a complete 180 degrees!! I have used this facility for both of my cars biennial smog certs. While there may be less expensive places to have this done, I have never had an issue when picking MY appointment time and getting in an out of there in less than 20 minutes or less. Quick and friendly service. Was warmly greeted at 12:25 on a Tuesday afternoon, and was on my way at 12:46. Received $20 off as a return customer. I've come here for several years now, and I appreciate the service I've gotten. The office is clean, and there is wifi available -- although each time my car is done before I have a chance to get much done online. It's a good place to take your car for the "necessary evil" that you have to have done every two years by the DMV. Hubby recommended I go here for my smog check. This is the place he always uses. Now I understand why he always goes here. I called and made an appointment for the following day. I had a little trouble finding the place, but because I had made an appointment, the guy was on the look out for me. He flagged me down as I rolled past and motioned for me to park in a certain area. Thank you! I had already spent a few minutes driving around looking for the place, so I was so grateful he saw me. Paperwork was quick and he pulled my car around back for the test and, I kid you not, barely 5 minutes later I see my car come around the side again and it's done. He had told me it wouldn't take long, but, wow! There was no upcharge or funny business (as I read about at some other places) and he honored a coupon I had, so it was a good price.
