I was told that I could be accommodated in approximately 1 hour, so I drove away and came back. Sure enough, I was taken care of with courtesy and professionalism. I called in Saturday and scheduled a smog check. I asked if I needed an appointment and the guy on the phone said they take both drop-ins and appointments so I just decided to schedule one at 1 pm. I called to ask if I needed an appt, they said no you can just show up but they will do an appt as well so you can be sure you won't wait. It was about 9:25am and they gave me an appt at 10am. So $89-30=$59+9 for the CA cert fee, so $68 out the door. And they take credit cards, a lot of places only take cash. I went to this facility with my 1986 Buick today 4/22/18 because another facility could not do the smog even after an appointment was made. Today is Sunday and I know this place says it's closed but they told me that they are now open on Sunday. Straight forward shop, no b.s. They took my car in and we're very professional and courteous. Read the reviews here on Yelp and decided to give this place a try. I found a coupon online for $30 off a smog test and I went to their website- love that you can make an appointment online. The only downfall is that it's VERY hard to find. I have grown up in the Dublin/Pleasanton area and I had to call after driving around for 10 minutes to find out where this place was. Why no star taken away? Because Larry, the smog tech who took care of me, was EXCELLENT. I didn't have to wait in line or for other cars since I made the appointment, Larry was VERY friendly and nice, and I was in and out of there in 15-20 minutes. The waiting area is clean and tidy. Walked right in on a Tuesday afternoon and was out with all my paperwork within 30 minutes. I would make an appointment next time as a few people came in after me and had to come back a little bit later or wait a little bit longer. I was helped by Tim (pretty sure that was his name). Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, He made sure that my aftermarket parts would pass before conducting the test so I wouldn't get charged if they were not CARB legal (which I knew they were but every bit helps). Mention yelp and get $30 off. While it does only brings it down to $64, it is nice to see them recognize us yelpers. A major plus to me was how safe with my car he was. The shell station killed my car (manual) every time I took it in there. Last time they killed it twice... Last time I will ever take it to them that is. Tim obviously knew how to approach a new car with a manual transmission and drove it flawlessly (something I can really appreciate as a car lover and part-time valet!) Will definitely be going here again for all my family's smog needs. Supporting local business=way better than going to some gas station chain for worse service. Scheduled a 4:00pm appt. at the Pleasanton SMOG KING location yesterday after I was referred by Precision Auto. The guy working was pleasant and their shop was COVID clean with plenty of additional sanitizer on hand. No delays as my car was taken in at the scheduled appt. time and I was out in about 15 minutes. I found a coupon on-line which they gladly accepted. Out the door for $58. Pricing varies depending on the year of your vehicle. Some folks were ranting about the pricing but I felt it was no different than others once you add for the DMV certificate and since they were a strong referral I was comfortable using them and will do so in the future. Smog shops are all kind of the same... You show up, they do the test, and you see them again in a couple years. The only way to tell them apart is by their customer service. This place unfortunately ranks badly in that respect. I booked an appointment with them at 4pm, taking time off from work to finally get my smog done. The guy at the desk told me there were two people in front of me and that I would have to wait an hour (!) for my smog check. The whole reason I picked this place and took time off work was because they had an appointment system. If you can't honor it, don't have it. I drove just a couple blocks away and found a STAR rated smog shop that was reasonably priced, took me without an appointment, and had me out in 10 minutes. Because of all days my battery has gone bad and Tim went out to my vehicle to check my vehicle computer to see if the battery would effect the smog check. I am unfortunately updating this review from a 5 star to a 2 star.. went in today for my inexpensive Quick Smog Repair that the owner assured me he was going to be about a half hour if not less and a cheap repair spoke with the technician who was going to do the repair told me the owner was very incorrect with the information he gave me. Technician told me it's going to be a costly repair that needs $140 diagnostic first. I did not agree to any work being done today after all. I'm going to submit to the state request for assistance with the repairs like the back of my registration notice says and I'm also going to get a second opinion. I really feel the sky was potentially kind of shady. I could be wrong but with such an extreme difference and information between Saturday the 22nd and today I'm really disheartened and disappointed. not done working with these guys, as my vehicle actually failed snog. Diagnosis shows a "very small leak" to a hose. My repairs are able to be done at their shop, so i will be there tomorrow for the repair and free recertification for my smog. I chose to go ahead and yelp them with a 5 star rating in advance as a result of the interaction i have had with them thus far. Fair warning, according to the nice gentleman who was working on Saturday 9/22, they have just upgraded their computer system and they have a few kinks to work out. Ie. Dont try to make an appointment with them online right now, as they are not receiving them. Regardless, my car was still in and out within the same time frame it would have been had they received my online 11am appointment. I was upset to hear that the car failed and required a repair, however the man was very nice and assured me that the repair was simple and likely could be done under a half hour. Just bought an older Subaru coupe and took it in to get smogged. Called and spoke to Steve, who was very informative as to how to get to the shop. When I arrived he was just finishing up with another client, and was told he'd get right to me. Asked me a few questions and was very pleasant. I honestly was very worried that the car wouldn't pass since it's an older car, but after he finished the job said the car was good to go. He did mention that I should get the valve cover replaced because of a little bit of a leak, which I greatly appreciate. The price is in line with all other smog places however over the last 2 years not only has their service gone downhill significantly they have changed personnel to far s Less skilled staff After 6 years of going to them for my smog check I have changed. The final straw was when I watch the technician crawl into my engineer compartment for some odd reason and break a hose and then claim he did not do it and due to a broken hose the car would not pass the smog test. I would not recommend taking any vehicles to them until they hire some competent technical staff. read more
