This owner was incredibly rude to his wife (who also worked there), to me, and to others. I don't know how he stays in business. I had their coupon which I wanted to use and he went on to tell me that it was for cash paying customers only (which wasn't noted anywhere on the coupon at all). I had a great experience with the smog of my diesel truck here. The prices are reasonable and The owner is a genuinely nice man, very likable. He got the smog done quickly with no wait (other than the time it takes to smog). Cherry on top is that he was very nice to my kids that came with me, and didn't act like they were annoying in the lobby (because my kids are toddlers and are busy bodies). He actually asked me if he could offer them a pack of M&Ms each. My kids were super happy about that! I'm calling today to get a smog appointment and I'm just hoping the business is still open. The owner Corey is one of the most down to earth guys I've met. You will not earn his business if you are looking for a fancy place, but if you are looking for an honest man and will do the best smog service for you, he's totally the man for the job. +Very close to the Laguna Hills DMV, I didn't realize I needed a smog and the DMV guy said I didn't have to wait in line if I took care of it and came right back. +Like others have mentioned, my "Service Engine Soon" light was on. It does this occasionally and my mechanic & I have determined the cause doesn't justify the service required to make it stop since it is just a sensor that is sensitive. The owner, I believe his name is Corey, helped me and he was amazing! The first question he asked is if the light was on. When I replied yes, he said "I could take your $60 now and you won't pass. Go to your mechanic, tell them you are about to get a smog test and see what they say. Then come right back here and we'll test you then." HOW AWESOME! I did exactly what he suggested and passed with no problem. I was back at the DMV within an hour with my completed registration and new tags. Now, a few things you should know...this isn't a swanky OC service station with a lounge and coffee machine, etc. DON'T LET THAT DETER YOU! This is a garage in an industrial park. I didn't have to wait either time I visited. This was easily the most efficient trip to a service station I've ever experienced. I hope you never have to worry about Smog Checks & the DMV but if you do, go straight to Smog Service Station. read more

I will never ever come to this store any more. It's much more expensive than other places. I just moved to CA and have to change my registration. Then I found I need to do Smog test and this store is close to DMV. They charged me $49.99 for smog test and plus others fees the total is $65. I was surprised why the test is so expensive so I googled and I found other stores are much cheaper than here they only charge $20 - $29.99. So I asked the man to stop working on my car I will go to other store ,but he refused and said he already work on my car, if I cancel he still change me that amount of money. In then end, I pay him $60 and full of anger! The state required checking has standard price in my original state and every store charges same price, but in here they just rob your money! I'll definitely do more research next time. It's full of trap! read more

My DMV registration renewal is up and I was required to go to get a smog check. I had a "check engine" light on in my car for some time but didn't give it any thought. I went to Smog Service Station and the guy ran the test. Apparently I failed because of the fact that my "check engine" light was on. He charged me $40 and told me that I can come back for a re-test at 1/2 the price once my car was fixed. I went to a car repair shop regarding my "check engine" light and told him that I failed the smog test. I showed him the results of the test and he said that the figures indicate that I passed everything. The only reason I failed was because of the "check engine" light. He then told me that every smog check business would tell you immediately that you could not pass the test if there is a "check engine" light on. Namely, no honorable smog check business would even run the test if the light is on. Either the guy at Smog Service Station knew that my "check engine" light was on but ran the test anyway knowing that it would fail so that he could charge me; or he didn't see the "check engine" light until after the test was performed - at which point he should have waived the fee since he was negligent in pointing it out. It's either lack of ethics or incompetence in my opinion. I'm not going back there for my re-test even if it's 50% off. Come to think of it, don't most smog stations offer free re-tests if a car fails?? Never again. read more

Busy day today. Was not able to get a decal for Gate entrance as the title was not yet transferred. I overheard decal customer service person Therese inform one person before me to go to Auto club for faster service. As it was my turn and needing to transfer auto title. I asked the decal CS person. If the Auto club will do a transfer and where they are located. She said "I don't know you will have to call them. I than asked for a 4 wk gate pass and she said why if you are going to the auto club today. They will give you registration right away. Oops I thought she did not know. Of course I do understand Selective of whom you want to help. Ok went to Auto club wait for my turn and find out I needed . A smog certificate. Ok instead of putting it off I headed to Smog Service and Corey who is a very friendly owner took me in right away . Whew! Passed and back to Auto club and back to our Association. Walla hot my decal. Now not necessary to show gate entrance temporary overnite parking pass. Go to Corey's Smog Service Station. My older vehicle required a Star Certified smog check this year. An online search led me to this location. I called and spoke with Corey; he was very pleasant and efficient on the phone. On 1 June I arrived as a drive-in customer at 0830 (he doesn't make appointments, first come-first served); mere minutes after my arrival the smog check was complete (to be precise from the time my car entered his garage to its return to the front door was 6 minutes according to my watch)! He also took the time to explain how the new smog check system worked to satisfy my curiosity (after all, the prior tests usually took 15+ minutes if I recall) and what the system would do in event of a failed exam. He even gave me a $5 discount on the test because he liked my personalized license plate! Corey was professional, gracious and informative. Nicest person you will ever meet. You might find something cheaper if you drive all over town, but this place will answer any questions or concerns PRIOR to doing your test. Plus it's very fast. He had me out in 20 minutes and that included looking at my car before the test. If you want to drive all over town looking for a cheaper deal and spend a couple hours and gallons of gas doing it, good luck to you. I would much rather support a legitimate, honest business, than a fly-by-night Penny Saver place. I think it's $49 for a car and $59 for a truck before state fees (that's ironic to me considering it's a state mandated test you have to take before you pay your state mandated tax and car registration fees. Of course, when I was there a city paid contractor was going through all the businesses looking for automotive repair trash in the garbage (no repairs at this shop though).
