Found "Smog Station" via Yelp and regret nothing. Very friendly, very efficient. I called them and within 60 minutes I was there, checked, and back home. Granted they will not always be that available, but still worth reporting. I had a Diesel smogged and had zero issues. Will return and recommend when needed. I've been going here the past 8 yrs for all my family's cars. I was there recently with my 1999 jeep cherokee that for some reason always had a CHECK ENGINE LIGHT on. I always went to the dealer and had it fixed (for a fee) but got tired of spending the money for it. Long story short, I always failed the SMOG test because of this. Time to give some $$$ to the dealer. Little did I know that what the dealer was doing was just resetting the diagnostic and not fixing the problem. That is why after a few days, the check engine light would go back ON. This smog station actually told me what was wrong with my CAR! They changed a worn out rubber part with the EVAL system and re-set the system. They told me that now it is a two step process because of the re-set. I had to drive my car a few days for the diagnostics to run and finish and come back for the SMOG. Now, my check engine light is not lighting and passed the SMOG. Best part is, THEY DID NOT CHARGE ME anything for the diagnosis and rubber part! just the SMOG FEE! read more

I actually went to another Smog shop that was drop-in only. And it happened to be closed. So I searched for Smog Station and after following the signs, found no other cars there. Went in, shortly after my car was checked and passed. The parrot kept it entertaining while waiting as well with lifelike alarm and beeping sounds. Glad I went here. read more

I took my car in for a smog certificate. He told me I needed some work on my carburetor and it would be between $200-$500. When I went to pick it up the bill was nearly $600 and no smog certificate! He said I needed a catalytic converter, so I asked if he would test after I got one. He said he would but no discount. And the carburetor was way off. Charged me almost $100 for some used hoses but never stopped the leaks. Never called to give me the update on the extra charges either. read more

This is a great place to quickly (most times) get your vehicle smog'd. Troy and his co-worker (?name) are really good. It's a place I love to hate because it's so messy and cluttered, the "waiting room" is atrocious, and sometimes it takes about 30 minutes because he's busy. The location is tricky to get into, compared to other spots but I've been going there since the late 1980's and Troy is honest, knowledgeable, and the price is always $70.00 with no B.S. If he would clean the place up (and it needs a major cleaning) and create a nice waiting area, it would be a lot better. His pet bird, which I think is a grey parrot, is nice entertainment. His big screen T.V. is nice but viewing selections that he uses are sometimes offensive, especially if there are kids present. Overall really good but could use some T.L.C. on the customer experience. read more

I'd been going to this place for so long I didn't realize it wasn't normal to wait one to two hours for a smog check. I had my suspicions a few times that the boss was taking other customers ahead of me, but I finally got wise yesterday when, after going to this place at their regular posted hours of operation and they weren't there ( I waited for a half hour and no one showed) and there was no answering machine when I called, I went to another place down the street and it only took 20 minutes. I've been coming to the Smog Station for years, and have been recommending Troy's place to everyone who will listen, and even to people who won't. He's honest (usually a term blatantly contradictory for a mechanic), friendly and easy to deal with. Last smog check, he noticed my radiator had issues, and offered to replace it for me, after telling me how to get his discount from 1-800- RADIATOR to get the replacement parts. When he was done, that engine was as sparkly as the day it was made. He charged me a quarter of what Honda quoted me. Troy truly is a master mechanic...not just the smog dude. My wife needed her Honda CRV Smoged, but also the Check Engine Light was on. They repaired the Check Engine light, and also performed the 100,000 mile service. We found the experience to be very quick and the price was fair. The team at Smog Station is very friendly and easy to work with. I will recommend them to all my friends!
