It's also first come, first served so don't expect to roll in and have them jump on your car that very moment. Yay or Nay? Yay Now for the longer version ... for readers that like the details. I brought my son's truck to Smog Stop this past year. I called before I came to see about scheduling an appointment. I showed up and was treated with excellent service. We were a bit worried about the truck passing as he had just purchased it and it was 30 years old. Not any of their doing, but it passed. They were quick and friendly. So, without calling, I popped in today to have my other car smog check completed. I was greeted with the same courtesy that I had experienced the last time. The manager isn't your average status quo dude. He has a personality; I am pretty sure that if you do, you will be laughing before you leave. If you need to be wined and dined, or if you need to be an a$$-hole and not expect to be set straight, this is probably not your spot. If you don't have much of a personality, you have options ... come here to work on that while they get the test done or work on it somewhere else because they will still smog check your car. Either way, I was in and out in less than 25 minutes and there were two others chilling alongside me. All three of us left smiling. So, there is that! Counter associate a nice enough guy but the service tech was extremely rude. Tech had no intentions of doing his job and appeared to be completely miserable . He was glad to look for a reason to not attempt to smog the vehicle and had no idea what he was even looking at. My car is 100% as it came from the factory with all of its cats in place and he said it had aftermarket headers and no cats. The tech didn't want to bend down to even look under the vehicle it seemed to be too much hassle for him to do his job on a Saturday. read more

Took my car to smog stop yesterday (5/16/23), as usual, I have to put up with the dramas from the cashier. But since I went there many times, I put up with it. The car passes smog check, but he failed me on the blue smoke, which I couldn't see for myself. So I took the car for another shop to get another opinion, passed smog check with a flying color and the final report is much better. Oh, I don't have to put up with the dramas and to top up with a better waiting room. I wish smog stop would just be honest and tell me that they don't want my business, that would be fully appreciated and valued. They are slowly gotten rid of their faithful customers. I am quite sure they will be succeed in a few years. I have 3 other cars, which I will not take it to them, simply I just don't want to waste my time and money. I've been coming to this location for over 10 years and have always had a pleasant experience. Everyone that works there is friendly and I think they know most folks come in nervous about smogs so they always try to lighten the mood and make you feel comfortable. Yes, I have had car(s) not pass and car(s) pass but that's what comes with driving in CA. They're always honest and they do retest the vehicles once you get it repaired. Will never go elsewhere. Great group of people. I was selling my vehicle and had the buyer meet me there. Not only did they get my smog check done quickly but made sure I was safe. Came outside and would walk by casually and checked in while getting paid and paperwork done and suggested I stay in the office until my ride came. Went above and beyond. My mechanic in Newcastle has been sending me to The Smog Stop in Roseville for a couple of years. I have always received quick service here. Shane behind the counter does a great job checking you in and out. He represents this small business very well. The company is lucky to have him as the face of their company. I was there on a busy morning and was still in and out in less than 45 minutes. Smog Stop runs a coupon in the Penny Saver that can save you some money but you have to have it in your hand...not just mention it. I was told that they would get done with my car in about 40 minutes so I went down the street to McDonalds to wait over there (the waiting area at the smog place is extremely small and I didn't want to wait outside in the sun). I came back around 50 minutes later because they never called me to tell me my car was finished. Apparently they finished up about 15 minutes after I left (according to the paperwork) and when I asked why they didn't call, the employee just said it was busy and they forgot. I had a coupon so it only cost about $50. They get the job done quick, but in their haste they don't seem to be paying attention to where they're driving the cars. I was pulling out of the parking space and one of the technicians backed a car out of the garage and almost hit me. It wasn't carefully backing a car out and parking it in the lot, he just floored it and backed it up without even looking. He maneuvered around me and acted like nothing had happened. read more

My boyfriend needed to get his new car snogged asap and came to this place after calling around to a few places. Great price! $56 for a complete smog check which is one of the cheapest prices that he was able to find. One of the pluses is that this place is open 6 days a week and their service is fast. As soon as we got there all we had to do was give them the registration and the total mileage and within 5 minutes his car was already being checked! After about 10-15 minutes we were good to go (the car passed of course!) Another great thing about this place is that they offer a free re-check if your car doesn't pass the first time. I arrived today for a smog on a p/u to find that they would not take their digital coupon discount for $10 off. Has to be printed. Wow. DO NOT COME HERE! This place was absolute bullshit! I just moved to California from out of state and came here to get my car smogged because it was really close to the DMV... believe me, do not go to a test-only location. My emissions all were fine, but they failed me for timing. I went to an auto repair place that informed me that my engine is rare and that it is non-adjustable (we even called Toyota to confirm), and that there is a sticker under my hood with this information. So I went back to Smog Stop for my free re-test and the technicians refused to re-test my car because they insisted that the sticker didn't matter. I was sent back to the autobody shop to discuss the problem with them, they contacted the Bureau of Automotive Repair who said I would need to see a state referee about it. So I scheduled an appointment with the ref, went to him and he confirmed that my engine was non-adjustable (however I did not pass emissions this time). I was sent back to the autobody shop for some repairs. The autobody shop passed me with flying colors. What it amounts to is that Smog Stop didn't know what the hell they were doing and failed me the first time for something they should not have failed me for, leaving me to run around and lose lots of money over a period of 2 weeks for their stupidity. Believe me, avoid the hassle and incompetence of this place and go get your car smogged somewhere that can actually fix it and somewhere that actually knows what they're doing. I intend on getting my money back from Smog Stop this week. I've never been so angry in my entire life!!! read more

If the older woman is in the office-be patient. If the talkative younger gentleman is in the office-expect expedited service but with out the sweet caring attention of the older woman. -- I have been coming here for almost 8 years now, off and on. The only consistent figures being Ken the service writer, Joyce the other service writer, Carl the very knowledgeable tho sometimes a bit short, super technician, and usually quick and accurate smog inspections. Oh and the competitor coupon matching policy is great. Quick tips: 1. write down your odometer reading on your renewal form before going in to the office. 2. have any coupons ready at the time of write up. 3. be sure to give any gas cap keys to the service writer. 4. INFORM them of ANY SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES OR CONDITIONS with your car i.e it only starts in neutral, the window doesn't go down, there is a light flashing on the dash, it doesn't move in reverse, the doors lock by them self even if you leave the key in the ignition, etc. 5. I am pretty sure that if you stare at the smog technician like you are trying to undress them and then examine thier internal organs IT WON'T HELP any thing and may make them nervous enough to make a mistake. 6. Try and be patient. Good luck. I still like this place. It is the one place that I can count on to be honest and when they mess up, they make it right. read more

My friend and I brought in a car that had a 50/50 chance to pass or not and he tried to keep our hopes up while we waited for the results to come in. The car thankfully did pass and he was thrilled right along side us. I've went to a few different places before here, and it is nicer than a lot of other shops. It is kind of small but you're not here long. Usually they get my truck down in about 10 mins and I just walk over to Big Lots anyways. The prices are fair in fact a little cheaper than other places in Roseville.
