I used the Vehicle Registration Services part of the business to take care of my out of date registration, because I couldn't do it online. DMV telephone support told me I had to go to a DMV office, which both had over a one month wait time. I called Vehicle Registration Services in advance to ensure they could take care of me, which they believed they could. Under fifteen minutes after I arrived, I'd paid my dues and had my registration sticker. Try to pay cash or debit card, because the Visa fee is high. Happy overall. read more

I have never felt so ripped off in my LIFE! We took our Honda in for Smog Check and they told us the battery needed to be replaced. They charged us $159 for a battery and $139 for a total of $311.91 and then we were told that we would have to bring it back for the Smog!! My Granadma can change a car battery!!! Full disclosure, I did not end up using Smog Stop Shop. I needed a smog only for my vehicle registration. I was doing my research and contacted multiple smog locations. At first, this place seemed like a good deal. Pretty close to the house and the pricing seemed good as well (I couldn't tell you what a smog test costs if you asked me). Unfortunately, when I called the phone rang for a long time before someone finally answered and when they did, I was disappointed. I guess I shouldn't expect good customer service from an auto business given the reputation most of these places have but I still expect professional interaction. The guy that answered didn't even say the name of the business and seemed like he would rather have been anywhere else on the planet than answering that phone when I called. Too bad because I enjoy supporting local businesses whenever possible but I just couldn't get over the poor initial interaction with the business. I really cannot believe I did not take the time to write this review sooner on the very first visit. Well, if letting you know this is my 3rd time happily patronizing this business isn't convincing enough, then let me explain. We all know we have plenty of options out there when it comes to pretty much everything, but what earns my loyalty is the way you treat me. I pass several shops to come here because they're honest, respectful, compassionate, and knowledgeable. The fact that they're also fast, accommodating, friendly, and affordable are all just added perks. I've visited at the busiest times as well as less busy, during weekdays and during the week, with and without an appointment and the experience remains constant. At one point they couldn't bill my Leaseplan for corporate vehicle, but that's no longer a barrier for me so I'll be utilizing all the services they have to offer. I was shocked to see negative reviews, but if I were you I'd come check them out for yourself. I also love that they give great, honest recommendations for other local businesses. They did the smog test and that went fine. They gave me a bogus recommendation to replace the valve cover on my vehicle. That repair was done about 5 months ago by my mechanic and there was absolutely no need to do it, see pics. There was just a little bit of oil spilled near the where you put in oil when you're changing oil that's it. read more

Would give no stars if there was an option. The man in the office to the right when walking in was the rudest person to deal with. Went in because I received a promotion via text with a code sent directly to my phone for their smog service. Was told no I need to print out the coupon even though it states ready to use. Explained that they make it very confusing with saying that when it's sent. He had a very rude remark to me and I am now going elsewhere due to his bad customer service and attitude towards a paying customer. read more

It occurred to me while I was in the waiting area that I didn't select a "Pass or no pay" station. I could hear the technician completely gun my engine...it sounded like a small plane was taking off. He can't possibly being trying to fail me, I thought to myself? So, it failed the smog test and the tech quickly volunteered to provide repair services. Gentle people, I have new model Honda......there's nothing wrong with the emissions. I handed over my $60 and left completely defeated. I was referred to this shop for a VIN inspection and smog test on an out-of-state vehicle. I was able to have both taken care of on a Saturday morning with two other vehicles ahead of me. I was in and out in a lil' over an hour. The pricing was very reasonable as well. I'll be back for future services even though this shop is not local to me. I personally had a good experience here considering I have a newer vehicle (2015) so therefore everything passed, and I got my registration same day as smog. I was satisfied so I ended up recommending my parents to this place and they have an older vehicle (2001) around 67,000 miles, very well-maintained truck. This place ended up quoting my parents $400 worth of work on top of the $240 "diagnostics." They took our truck over the weekend for some reason, and we thought something was unordinary, so we called to pick it up Monday morning to take it to our trusted mechanic only to find out the hood was not even opened, the car was dusty before we took it here and there were no fingerprints, no valves caps or anything in the hood were examined before and the vehicle needed ZERO maintenance. We got recommended to another 5-star smog shop that passed our vehicle and we ended up getting our money back from this place after bringing this to their attention. I'd say only use this place if you want registration done quickly, seems they take advantage of certain people and most likely will say somethings wrong with your older vehicles, for a quick cash grab. Be aware, go to a trusted mechanic for any vehicle maintenance. read more

Went to this place to get my car smoged the employs were extremely rude and not helpful. We had pulled around the back of the building to get the car smoged and they looked at us like we were crazy and then told us to pull around to the front in a very rude manner we proceeded to the office were the guy was very rude again telling is to hold on. So we just left . I would not recommend this place no wonder they only have 3 stars. I will never go back!!! it's to bad cuz it was close to home. They advertised a coupon for $24.95 plus fees. Sounded good. I put the coupon on my phone and made an appointment. When I got there he said you have to have a paper copy of the coupon and points to a sign over his desk. Well, the coupon does not state that you have to have a printed copy. I walked out and he tried to give me a discount $40 instead of his regular fee. Nope, we left and drove to Temecula Smog Center on Ynez. They had a Groupon for $24 plus fees. I called and asked if we have to have a printed copy. He said no and asked if I still have to get the Groupon. If not he will honor the Groupon price. read more

Today I went to get a smog and do a title transfer. Al helped me in less than 30 minutes with a great customer service. I was so impressed that I was able to save hours at the DMV and didn't even have to make an appointment. This is a great place. The fee for the transfer was less than how much I would've lost with work hours so it was beneficial. I would recommend this place to anyone. I left with a DMV registration and sticker!!! I needed a catalytic converter. The office person called around for me and said its between $1,000-1600. But that he could do much better than that and charged me less than $500. Turns out they never replaced the converter. I found out thru a different mechanic, because after they changed my oil they said, you need a catalytic converter. I was crushed. Started to cry. This is the absolute worst smog check station you could go to. First, be spent and hour checking my car with it running the whole time to tell me it didn't pass because i didn't have a sticker. A sticker.. really. Explained to him that my car was in an accident and they removed bumper and hood and such and probably don't have the sticker anymore. Then when he had my hood up, he put my engine cover on my quarter panel and scratched it really bad. He tried to say that it wasn't him and that it was already there because its on the other side and i told him yeah it was probably you too. I take very good care of my car and would have known if that was there. I asked him nicely if i came back with the sticker then he couldn't just pass it that he would have to retest the whole car. He wasted an hour of my time and Morning even more by telling me that he wouldn't give the keys back until i paid $30 and would have to pay again the next time. Safe to say I will never come back here after that. I used to come here all the time with my other cars too. Absolutely horrible establishment. Hope this was helpful. I hope noone has to put up with what i dealt with. read more
