Smog Xperts does a great job in a timely fashion. They're located in an industrial complex so your best bet is to park directly in front of their building without blocking access to their garage. I purchased a Groupon since the California DMV required that my wife's car be smogged at a Star station this year. Unfortunately it didn't pass the first time since we had recently done some work to it and the emissions monitors hadn't fully reset themselves. They don't offer free retest when you use Groupon. They were kind enough to match their Groupon price a few days later and it passed without any issues. They're very efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. I wouldn't hesitate to use them in the future when we need to get our cars smogged. Their prices are very competitive and I was in and out probably quicker than any other shop I've ever been to. Needed to get a smog check on our diesel truck. I first checked Groupon, where I found Smog Xperts. Great deal, $36 plus $8.75 for the certificate. Extra charge for SUVs and trucks. All of the reviews through Groupon were great. One person commented that they would honor the Groupon price, and that you don't even need to purchase the Groupon deal. I called Smog Xperts, and spoke to a very nice gentleman who told me he would honor the $36 Groupon, but it would be $20 extra for diesel. He asked when I would be coming in, and told me to take a picture of the Groupon so that I could show it to him when I arrived. I went in today, and upon parking in front of the entrance, Chaolee came out to greet me, asking if I was there for a smog check. He asked how I heard about them, to which I told him that I found them on Groupon, and had called yesterday. He asked me to take a picture of my mileage and bring my DMV paperwork inside. Within minutes he handled paperwork and went to smog check my truck, but not before telling me to help myself to a snack (multiple types of Belvita on the end of the counter - nice little touch!) Within what felt like 10 minutes or less, he came back with great news that the truck had passed. I noticed he was wearing an Army Veteran hat, so I thanked him for his service (to which he said thank you for the recognition) and mentioned that my dad had served in the Air Force. I was back home in just under an hour from when I had left the house. Great, speedy, efficient, friendly service. Got my errand handled in record time! Can't beat that! It was that time of the year, the time that DMV gets to clamp down on emissions from your car...at least, that's what the smog check program is designed for. Since I don't modify my cars to make super high horsepower, I'm not too worried about my cars getting smogged because I maintain them properly and not race around in them doing donuts and drag sprints. I used Yelp to look up some shops and after talking with them I found that Chaolee had a friendly business attitude but wasn't pushy and said he'd match any company's coupons. He also said he could take walk-in business right now, so I went to his shop which was nearby. His modest shop is in an automotive related circle of warehouses so be sure to check the suite number when you go there. He tested my car, it passed so I was in and out in about 15 minutes including filling out paperwork...super quick! Only limitation is they're not a STAR certified so I can't bring my older car to them. But for straight up smog checks this is the place! read more
